Feeling Hot Hot Hot! The Rain Curse is Broken! Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun! COMPLETE

May 19th continued

Mom and I did one lap around the Lazy River and then went back to rejoin the boys. It was now time to hit the wave pool! I think that Typhoon Lagoon has to have one of the best or perhaps even the best wave pool in the world! It is SO MUCH FUN!

We all started to wade into the pool. Alek and Erich were complaining that it was too cold, big babies! I didn't think the water temperature was bad at all and I am usually the most sensitive of the three of us to cold.

Mom got left behind in the shallow waters, we like to head out into the deep end where all the fun is!

I know, I know, Alek is way better than me in this picture. I just don't have the dramatic gene like Alek and Erich plus my eyes just happened to blink when Erich took the picture.

IMG_3061.jpg

Erich was really into bursting up out of the water like The Little Mermaid.

Another Mermaid shot

At one point we were all just floating in the pool waiting for the waves to start up again and a couple approached and commented on how they hoped my camera was waterproof as it was sure to be damaged being in the pool with me. I should hope that I am not that brainless that I would take a regular camera into the pool, sheesh!

Of course, I had to take some video while in the pool. A little sampling of what it is like to hang out with The Brothers Grimm at a water park. Some of these may not be entirely little kid appropriate. :rolleyes1

I was a little nervous when they decided to act this next one out. I was afraid it would bring the wrath of the lifeguards down upon us...

After spending a good amount of time having fun goofing off in the pool we made our way back to the chairs where Mom was relaxing.

After spending some time drying off in the sun we were ready to head back to the hotel. We had hit all the good slides, the lazy river and the wave pool. We had another water park day planned so we felt no need to spend the whole day in the park.

While leaving I saw some BABY DUCKS! So cute!

It was around 2pm when we got back to the hotel. What to do with the rest of our day?

Typhoon Lagoon is by far my favorite water park. I could imagine that being in the wave pool with your brothers illicits some fear that they may do something to get you booted.....I have had the same fear with my brothers. They have toned it down a bit as they've gotten older.

I love the videos with your waterproof camera. Good lookin' out that it was waterproof! :rolleyes1

Wow Lessa I was so far behind I didn't realize it. I just finished your first Universal day. Your Hogwarts photos are terrific!

I cannot believe how much stuff you bought --- You have taken "kid in a candy store" to a new level!

The green eggs and ham photo made me feel a little ill. I have made green eggs for Katie on St Patricks & Dr Suess's birthday, so I know its just eggs. but still it looks gross!

The Shrek attraction looks awesome. I love the Shrek movies! rip tide? No WAY!

your pictures have me seriously debating whether we can work a universal day into our June trip!

I can see how parents were not so happy explaining to their kids why they could not hang upside down from Jaws' teeth. FUNNY!

ok now i am confused -- is islands of adventure a separate park admission than universal? is IOA the first day with the marvel characters, beetle bailey and harry potter??

Kids freaking over sharks? Hmm who would have thought there would be sharks in Shark Reef? wow.

We watched extreme water parks a few days ago and they would agree with you for the wave pool at typhoon lagoon and the huge slike at Blizzard beach. It had us talking about adding a day but i want to enjoy the lazy river at the yacht club (included in our cost!)

I love your relaxing afternoon in the water park. you all must have needed that sleep in day and the lazy river...well I probably would have gone around about a dozen times before I got out. I love just soaking and floating!:woohoo:

Hope you all had a great Christmas Lessa!

 Normally I don't get too worried while we are in the pool that they will do something but the staged "drowning scene" had me a bit worried because that could really tick off a lifeguard. But, they didn't seem to see it so we were golden. I do worry that they will get in trouble for their Lazy River racing. :rolleyes1
So ... was your camera waterproof? :confused3
:lmao::lmao: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

So when did you get evicted from TL? :rotfl:

 Well, we do still have another water park day coming up! ;)

Thanks! I have a classmate who went to Orlando over Christmas and she has been posting her pictures live on Facebook and it has really made me want to go back!

It does look a little gross doesn't it? I don't think I would have eaten it but I think the gross factor is what drew Alek and Erich in.

Universal is very fun and if you have the time I recommend it but if you only go for one day you will have to choose which of the two parks to go to: IOA or the Studios.

ok now i am confused -- is islands of adventure a separate park admission than universal? is IOA the first day with the marvel characters, beetle bailey and harry potter??

Yep, Universal Resort has two different parks which require separate admission: Islands of Adventure which was our first day and is the newer park, it has Harry Potter, Lost Continent, Suess Landing, Superhero Island, Toon Lagoon and Jurrasssic Park; Universal Studios is the original park and had Shrek, Rip Ride Rockit, Twister, The Mummy, Jaws, Simpsons, Men in Black, ET, etc.

Yeah, if I were spending the money to stay at Beach/Yacht Club I don't know if I would go to a water park with that awesome pool being right at the resort. Well, I wouldn't if I was only going for a week, a longer trip I would probably still go to a water park simply for the slides and wave pool. :thumbsup2

We always enjoy our water park days, a nice break from the heat and lines of the regular parks.

I was running out of things to say about Universal, since I'm not experienced there. I didn't want to annoy you with my questions, so I'm glad you're back at Disney! Admittedly though, I've never been to a Disney water park either, but I would love to go to both someday. They look amazing. The Little Mermaid pictures are hilarious! :rotfl:

Never hesitate to ask questions, I don't mind them at all. :goodvibes

If you ever have the time in your vacation schedule I definitely recommend visiting a water park, Typhoon Lagoon is our favourite of the two. :thumbsup2

Great update, Lessa. Your brothers just crack me up with their shenanigans. I LOVE the tidal wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon; we really need to go back there one of these trips.

Isn't the pool so much fun? It is the main reason I prefer Typhoon Lagoon to Blizzard Beach.

You guys STILL crack me up everytime I come to your TR! So much fun and funny!

When we arrived back at the resort we found that our room had been cleaned and mousekeeping had left us an info sheet about Star Wars Weekends. I picked it up to see what it had to say and I lost my mind. They had changed the schedule for SWW thus messing up all my plans! :furious: The info sheet stated that SWW activities would not be starting until noon (rather than at park opening) the next day (Friday) which was the day I had us slotted to go. That just was not going to work for me, the crowds would be insane by that time especially as this was the opening weekend for the new Star Tours and the first weekend of SWW for the year. This change in schedule meant I had to completely rework our itinerary!

I ended up reworking everything and our new schedule had us going to Animal Kingdom on Friday, another water park day on the Saturday and SWW on the Sunday with Monday at Epcot and our last two days being open for whatever we wanted to do. Would we stick with this plan?

To calm my nerves, after getting all stressed out over the itinerary change, I indulged by eating the Cauldron Cake I had bought at the Wizarding World. Alek and I split it.

IMG_3083.jpg

It was okay, probably would have been much better if we had eaten it the day we bought it when it was still fresh.

Mom and I decided to take a stroll over to El Centro to browse the gift shop and to arrange for a late check-out on our last day. Alek and Erich stayed in the room watching tv and playing on their game systems.

Once back at the room we all just lay around for a few hours napping, reading, playing video games, watching tv. I did all that while still stressing out over the change to our itinerary. I kept reworking it as I was never satisfied with the results.

I hate it when last minute changes cause you to rework your schedule. :headache: Especially since it wasn't something you could control!

And while we were in Jamaica, we also had someone approach us about the "waterproofing" of our device. Good grief! (Do you think it's a common occurance that people take nonwaterproof cameras into water? :confused3) Although he thought my little Kodak Playsport was my cell phone! (To be fair, it is definitely cell phoned sized and shaped) He started the conversation with me by saying, "I didn't know they made waterproof cell phones!" He was very intrigued by a waterproof video/digital camera--I don't think he realized they exsisted before he had that conversation with me.

Being the control freak I am when it comes to vacation planning, having some form of a schedule is very important. Having things change on me last minute like that was a nightmare!

The rest of the afternoon was spent napping and relaxing in the hotel room. Around 5:30 we got ready for dinner and made our way out to the car. We were headed to Medieval Times for dinner and I wasn't entirely sure how long it would take us to get there although I did know where it was, on Bronson somewhat past the Super Target.

Alek and Erich had been looking forward to eating here for years so I was glad we were finally getting to go.

IMG_3117.jpg

We arrived with plenty of time. The show was scheduled to start at 7pm so we had about an hour to browse through the shop and wait to get seated.

When you arrive and check-in you are assigned a table and colour that is associated with your knight for the show. We had the red and yellow knight. Everybody in the party also gets a crown.

IMG_3118.jpg

IMG_3119.jpg

We had fun looking around the shops. Erich bought a few items, can't even remember what anymore, I'm pretty sure he got a t-shirt.

IMG_3126.jpg

IMG_3128.jpg

IMG_3130.jpg

Alek and Erich found a guy to take pictures with. He seemed surprised and amused by their request to take a picture with him, guess he doesn't get approached that often.

IMG_3131.jpg

IMG_3132.jpg

IMG_3133.jpg

IMG_3134.jpg

They called everybody into the "throne room" where the King was conducting knighting ceremonies. Everybody who was there celebrating a birthday got knighted, very cute ceremony.

IMG_3136.jpg

IMG_3137.jpg

Erich decided to order his drink in the souvenir gold knight cup.

IMG_3142.jpg

IMG_3143.jpg

Eventually we were all called into the arena to be seated for dinner. It is done by colour. As you enter the arena you hand over your colour coded tickets and are taken to the appropriate section. We were seated here:

IMG_3147.jpg

The menu is standard for everybody and is printed on your napkin so you know what is coming.

IMG_3148.jpg

IMG_3149.jpg

The tomato bisque soup was delicious!

IMG_3150.jpg

Being Medieval Times you are not provided with cutlery, you eat everything by hand. They do provide wet wipes with the meat course.

IMG_3154.jpg

The meal is served throughout the show, it seemed that they always delivered the food during the "romance" part of the show.
