Feeling Hot Hot Hot! The Rain Curse is Broken! Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun! COMPLETE

That't funny your talk about the felling of time travel when crossing time zones and humming the back to the future theme. It makes me remember my second trip out to Disneyland I was in three different time zones in one day. I left Toronto in the eastern time zone, flew to Calgary in mountain time and then flew to La which is in pacific time. :rotfl2:

While I appreciate the beauty of the photos that you've shared, I have to admit that my idea of enjoying nature would be the mall with the great views :lmao:

Glad you survived the step-mother.

And your brothers took some serious photos! Only for their Grandma huh?

 Yeah, changing time zones can really mess with your system. Luckily the three hour difference b/w east and west coast is not too hard to get used to.

May 17th continued

After our yummy lunch at Mythos we headed across the way to Poseidon's Fury: Escape From The Lost City. I wanted to visit this attraction as I liked the theme of the area and also the name drew me in because as you all know by now I am a mythology buff.

The entrance to the attraction takes you through the ruins of a temple and then into the temple where an archaeological dig has been taking place.

IMG_2316.jpg

Once you enter the Temple there are informational signs up explaining the work being done at the temple and the strange occurrences that have been occurring. Take the time to read these if you see this attraction as they will enrich your experience.

IMG_2317.jpg

The first sign basically says that "The Global Discovery Group" has been investigating the temple's origins for over a year and explains that strange occurrences have been going on ever since its construction 2000 years earlier. They have yet to discover any hidden secrets.

IMG_2318.jpg

This one says they believe that there are hidden chambers inside that may contain treasure, something powerful or a hidden connection to the seas. They believe once they find out the secrets of the temple they will find out the secrets of The Lost Continent.

IMG_2319.jpg

The temple was originally built in tribute to Poseidon and only the Priests of the Inner Circle were allowed inside. Then around 400 BC a great clash occurred inside and the energy from this clash destroyed the temple and everything around it thus explaining the ruins.

So you can see that if you don't stop to read the signs you are missing out on part of the story.

You eventually end up in a hall where you then wait to enter the show.

The room was decorated with paintings on the ceiling and walls, nice touch.

IMG_2323.jpg

You are then lead into the main chamber of the temple where a junior archaeologist is giving you a tour and explaining the importance of the temple.

IMG_2325.jpg

Of course, this is where things start to go wrong. You end up finding the hidden chambers and go off exploring with your guide and everything goes wrong from there. I was naughty and flaunted the stupid no camera rules and took a few pictures. I won't explain anymore of the plot so that you are surprised if you go.

Just a warning, you can get a little wet in here so it can be a little chilly. You don't get soaked or anything like that but there are water effects but there are also heat effects so it doesn't last for too long.

Overall we enjoyed the show. Was it our favourite in the park? No but we didn't regret spending the time on it. However, if you are there on a really busy day and you have to cut something off your list because there is no way you can fit everything in this would be one to cut.

After exiting we took some more pictures and checked out the gift shop nearby.

Lessa, if I can ever tear myself away from going to Disney World for all of our vacations, I would LOVE to visit your country -- the pictures are just beautiful. Thank you for sharing them with us. I am so glad you got to spend some time with just your dad...I know how important that is to a daughter. Okay, and I just have this to say to Maria:

Great photos on Banff...Love your pics with your grandmother and Aunt Mary. (I too, had an Aunt Mary!).

Mythos looked really cool -- all the architecture was neat to see ... and the super-spy photos from inside!!:lmao::thumbsup2

I defy their no camera rules at every turn! Well, I did a few times. It just seems so silly to me to not allow pictures. :confused3

Wow, Mythos looks so cool. I don't think I have ever seen what it looks like inside.

We haven't spent much time in the Lost Continent. We went through the Poseidons fury many years ago and thought it was broken. All I remember was standing in that room and having water fall, but nothing really happening. I'll have to try it again one day. I was convinced it was broken the day we were there and don't remember the other parts.

I can't believe Maria ran out of food! How dare her, she should have packed more.

Love the pictures of your grandma and aunt. They are so cute and your family looks very nice in non silly pictures. Who would have guessed?

Okay, Maria is just crazy! Insulting your Aunt Mary and everything? That's just wrong man. Wrong. :P to her

Okay, I have been on Poseidon's Fury a few time, but I admit, I'm lazy and didn't read the stuff. Oh well. Now I know thanks to you. :lmao:

I hadn't seen pictures of the interior before either which is why I took so many. Considering what a major park Universal is there is an amazing lack of info/pictures at times.

 You go through 3 or 4 different sections I believe and there is the water tunnel thing you walk through to get to the final chamber.

:rotfl: I don't think that would have been physically possible! :lmao: I can't remember what she ran out of that caused her to not have enough "breakfast" for all of us. She had the package of rice but she didn't have one of the additional ingredients to make it. :confused3

 Yes, it is possible for us to take nice pictures from time to time.;)

Yeah, she insulted the ingredients she uses but then wanted her to hand over her family recipes so that Maria could make them. :headache: Of course, Aunt Mary is polite as she apparently taught Maria all the recipes during her visit. :headache:

After Poseidon's Fury we decided that we were done with The Lost Continent but before leaving we explored the exterior of Mythos. There is a path that you can take to the back of the restaurant which offers great views across the water to the other "islands".

Looks like fun! We're trying to figure out how much Universal time to plan into our next vacation. WWoHP is a MUST.... or DD may disown us :rotfl2: Other than that, I'm not sure how much of the park the others would be interested in. I'm the one who loves the thrill rides (coasters and such).

I can't wait to see what else you explored in Universal, especially the Hulk...it definitely looks awesome!!:thumbsup2

As a fellow classics nerd, I'm with you on loving the Lost Continent! ;) I agree that Posiedons fury is not a must do, we found it pretty cheesy, but I just had to give it a whirl since it prominently featured archaeologists!

We didn't get a chance to eat at Mythos when we went, but WOW, it looks awesome. The decor is great and the menu looks good as well. I also can't believe those prices, you'd be paying twice that at Disney.

Reading your TR has made me really want to go back to Universal. We did enjoy our time there, and I've actually been a little POed at Disney for some of their recent changes (not running monorails during EMH, the new $10 dining penalty), so maybe it is time to branch out a little more.

<Ahem, is this thing on?> (stepping on my soap box):

Just wanted to say "I hear ya"...I do love Disney and will continue to go, but if they keep making these cost-cutting measures that take away from your family vacation experience ...

We are actually going to try the new Legoland for one day on our next trip in January.

I did write to Disney re: the $10/pp dining penalty (suggested that it's only charged if you fail to cancel prior -- not 24 hours prior) but unfortunately, never heard back from them. But I'm hoping that if enough people write to them and/or also stop doing as many TS, then they will readjust their policy to make it more friendly to families with kids. -- You don't really want to sit next to my screaming, overtired kid, do you? ;)

But who knows? Maybe you and I are in the minority. I can certainly see how this benefits adults w/o kids who get sick or tired very easily...

OK, stepping off my soap box...

I loved your most recent pictures!! The theming looks absolutely amazing there! Someday, I might drag my Disney butt from WDW property and visit "the other side".
