Feeling conflicted…GFV or VDH

So funny! The more you buy the harder it gets to resist buying more 😂
Ain’t that the truth! We bought 200 direct this January because I figured that’s about what we needed. Booked our first trip with banked and current points and decided it would be nice to have an extra 125 at a monorail resort a couple months later. Then right after that closed on VGF resale, I saw a fairly reasonable stripped BCV listing for 101 points and negotiated a great price thanks to my husband drawing a hard line. Right about that time they announced summer incentives for VGF… I knew I didn’t need more but I caved last week because the price point at 150 was amazing and I mean I’m happy to use them. 🤣

Turns out I’m really good at justifying DVC purchases…I told my husband I would sell the resale VGF points in the next year…but I didn’t tell him that I am hoping to trade them for some poly points. 🤣

Sooooo true! Somehow my 150 turned into 450 within 7 months 😎😳

Happy to film an addonitis PSA if it will help others.
There is actually a quick remedy to avoid buying more - but you might shoot the messenger (me). Whenever I start to add more, I take my points and put the Annual Fees in an excel sheet with only a 5% inflation factor (or more, or less, as the mood strikes me). Those numbers really add up in a few years.

I’ve thought about annual dues for the 1,000+ Points Club which even now is a little :scared1:

That’s the angel on one shoulder. The other shoulder is learning how to justify it

Absolutely true. I’m currently at 576 points and I haven’t calculated exact annual dues across the various resorts but I’m assuming it’s going to be ~5500/year starting in 2024. 😵‍💫 We have spent that much on a single week stay at Beach Club before…BUT I don’t think it’s an appropriate long term annual commitment because I’m not certain we actually plan to visit the combination of WDW, Aulani, and DLR more than 12 days a year (we also like to visit Europe, Asia, to say nothing of DCL…) after the next few years, so I think we are slightly over where we want to be long term. I’m waiting to see how much we actually enjoy Aulani compared to our usual places on Maui and the Big Island before deciding the appropriate amount of points long term. If we love aulani and want to go there each year, then we probably have the right number of points, otherwise we will divest our resale VGF points.

I also worry that my pay doesn't increase by 5% yearly so each year the burden increases, once I am on fix income, going to have to really hunker down
