Feel like a traitor if I stay off property?

Granted, I have not stayed on-site, but my wife has, and she has absolutely no problem staying offsite and no desire to pay more to be onsite. We usually stay at Windsor Hills and it's perfect for us. We like having room for everyone, a kitchen to make quick breakfasts and lunches, and being able to escape all the craziness. It feels like you're staying at a home vs. staying in a hotel. Offsite resorts also have pools, playgrounds, and other amenities that are rarely overpopulated like the resort areas can be. The driving doesn't bother me at all. It's maybe 8-15 minutes each way, depending on which park you go to. I also prefer to be in control of my own transportation and not dependent on a schedule (which is essential with four kids under 10 :D ). Give it a try, and don't feel bad. You may end up loving it. If not, at least you can say you tried it. :D

I love staying offsite - we rent a 3 BR 2 BA condo for WAY less than we'd spend staying onsite. It's nice to have a washer and dryer & full kitchen. I've never paid resort fees or resort parking. My kids are teenagers so they prefer more space. I don't mind the short drive and prefer to be in control of my transportation anyway. We have annual passes so parking is included with that. I've been to Disney enough times that the EMH don't really sway me.
