Our 25th wedding anniversary is this year and I want to make it really special for my DH. His dream is to feed a giraffe. I was wondering if the AK park or lodge has a package to let you do this. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks!
An aquaintance of mine said she fed giraffes at Brevard Zoo. It isn't WDW but it is within travelling distance about an hour I think if you have a vehicle. Just a thought. http://www.brevardzoo.org/
Check with your local zoo. I am 90% sure you cannot do this at WDW.
Dd and I did the morning with the girrafes at our local zoo. It was $12pp including park admission. We got to spend 2 hours touring thier night time home, feeding and meeting them, then we got to see them put out onto the savanaha for the day. It was awesome!
San Diego Wild Animal Park allows giraffe feeding both on their Photo Caravan Tours and from a special giraffe feeding station in the "Heart of Africa" area of the park.
I could swear there is a tour at Busch Gardens that gives you this opportunity....I am a travel channel Nerd and seem to remember wishing it was not so expensive (there are six of us) because I would LOVE to feed a giraffe......check out Busch Gardens Tampa.
We did the backstage tour at AK a couple of years ago and we were able to feed a giraffe that was in one of the holding areas. I'm not sure if this changes or not through the years but we were able to feed one at AK.
Binder park is where we did ours, we did the behind the scenes and the pictures I posted are from there. Your right, not the best zoo but DD sure loves it there.

A couple of years ago Busch Gardens Tampa had an awesome behind the scenes tour/safari where you could feed the giraffes. My sister and I did it and it was absolutely amazing!! It was a package deal where you paid (I think) $50, got a three course lunch, and then went on a 1 hour tour. The group size was small, about 12 people to two guides. You stood in the back of a modified truck. Sorry...I'm not great at explaining!
We fed about 3 adult giraffes and would have fed a juvenille had his mom let him near us.
The drive from Orlando to Tampa was a nice one and we did it as a daytrip. Hope this helps.

You cannot feed and or touch the giraffe at the AKL or at the AK. But, if you go over to Busch Garden Tampa they have a tour where you can feed and touch giraffe, I got to bottle feed one of the babies. We also go to feed Rhino. We also got to toss food to the hippos backstage and one of those was a baby as well. Very cool. It is only about an hour drive west on I4. We flew into Tampa on a Saturday stayed overnight at a hotel there and then we spent all day Sunday at Busch Gardens and then we headed to Disney after breakfast on Monday morning. The tour at Busch was much better then the Sunset and Sunrise Safari tours that we have gone on.
There is somewhere in the U.S. where there's a lodge where the giraffes stick their heads in the windows and you really live as close to them as possible but I can't find it by doing a Google search right now. Anyone familiar with that place? I'd love to know the name of it!
And, heatherlynn444, what's the name of the place in LA?
