.Meat is usually Deer meat which my Dh and sons hunt themselves and have processed but I am not sure how expensive that is ,I would have to ask him.

I imagine you really don't want to know. By the time I factored in the vacation time, the guns, ammo, gear, calls, scents, blah, blah, blah it was over $75 a pound for us. Yeah. Oh, and I didn't include the processing as we did it ourselves.

Any one have any suggestions on good meals that don't require much time in the kitchen? It's gonna be another hot one next week. My family will only do so many salads. :lmao:

I'm thinking lots of sandwiches i'm gonna break down and buy store bought bread.

Thinking buying a large ham and just cooking that in the even night before and we eating ham sandwiches and ham and eggs or even a turkey breast doing the same. But if you have any other suggestions i will take it.

When I'm low on time in the kitchen, I just throw some stuff in the crockpot. Easy things like sweet and sour chicken (chicken, catalina dressing, apricot jelly and onion mix), chili, pork, etc. You could always shred it up and make sandwiches from it.

Fruit salad

Taco Salad or just Tacos

Pizza

Sorry I'm not much help!

No those are great ideas i love taco salads
Thank you.
Plus just remembered the kids and hubby are going on a camping trip for a few days so i only have to worry about 4 days for meals. I will probably eat what's in the fridge or maybe treat myself to Chinese or Mexican, or both :rotfl:

I read this post each day just to see all the different ways that you guys save money on food! It is interesting to read. I have a family of 4 and sometimes it is hard to stay under $20 a day! LOL

I just wanted to say that it has become easier to stay on budget now that I have a huge garden to pick from! I am so happy that most of the stuff is up now and we can eat fruits and veggies for free (basically! LOL). We now go out to the garden each day to pick Cucumbers, Butternut and Summer Squash, Tomatoes, Peppers, Yellow Beans, Sugar Snap Peas, Radishes, Beets and Carrots. We also have 6 Watermelons growing and also 5 Cantaloupes. We planted Corn as well, but it isn't ready yet. The kids love to help in the garden too because we let them plant "fun" things like Sunflowers and Pumpkins! They love to see the baby Pumpkins on the vines and have been watching them grow each day! :) They love the fact that the Sunflowers are taller then they are now! :)

Anyway, just wanted to share that with you all because a Garden was a real money saver for us this summer!! :)

Since i'll be busy tommorrow here is our plan
