Federal income tax refunds

I wonder if the issue with the delay isnt affecting those of you who put an amount in the Make it Pay work section. (I think that is what it is called.) We shouldn't have needed to put anything in that section because we didn't receive checks. We should only put something in that section if you don't work or are disabled. I don't remember the exact wording but some people who could not recieve the credit through changes to the payroll taxes recieved got a one time check. I think social security reciepients and maybe disability recipients. These are the people who should have put an amount in it. I didn't put any amount in there and I filed mine on 1/30 and it was direct deposited on 2/5. Friday to Friday.

If you didn't receive a check and you worked you received a 400 credit for single 800 credit for married. They reduced the taxes taken out of your check during the year so you in a way already received the money but if you don't claim the credit you don't get the full benefit of the program.

We efiled with our accountant on 1-29. I wasn't able to get any refund status on the IRS website until this morning. Our accountant told us we would have our refund by 2-11 which by the chart in the listed link on the front page, is correct. However, the IRS states that we are scheduled for a Feb 23rd deposit!!! I am really hoping that I'll check my account this week and find it. We so need that money right now.

Correct but with the H&R Block program they automatically figure the credit so you don't have to enter in any amount and then they ask you seperately for the amount of the check and my concern was that people may have entered an amount in this area thinking it was the credit. I almost did until I read it 3 times and realized I didn't get a check so I shouldn't enter anything. The credit was figured automatically by the program based upon the number of people with W-2's on the filing. Sounds like maybe that wasnt the issue with the delay but I thought I would throw something out there as a possibility hoping maybe it would help someone out there.

I just looked at our schedule M and we got this credit as well. We didn't receive a check during the year. Just looked at the step by step instructions and I think we did it right (we used turbotax). :confused3

Mine just moved from the 12th, which would have been right by the refund charts to the 23rd :( Our Georgia refund was in there today.....and I filed it last week....so YAY for them and their quick processing.

Woohoo!!!!!! Just got up and checked our status with IRS and ours went from saying we should receive it on the 16th if there were no mistakes to a direct deposit on Fri the 12th.:cool1: So glad to get it on schedule this year after being delayed so much last year. Everyone check your status this morning because on Tuesday night is when the IRS usually makes their status change to a certain date of direct deposit or another date of delay. Hopefully no one gets the delay.

Mine said the same! changed to 2/12 deposit date, if not received by 2/17, then contact them again. hope it there on friday!

:cool1:
I got up today and checked the bank account and my deposit was in there!!!!! It was suppose to be deposited on Friday the 12th but today 2/10/10 there it is!

thank you! Originally mine said the 12th; then it changed to the 16th. Now it's back to the 12th

I checked with my accountant and she said that the IRS would not allow any returns with the energy star credit to be filed until Feb 5th. That is what is causing my delay :( It says the 23rd. My accountant said she said it *could* be there this week but more likely the 19th. I need that money to pay my college tuition. It's situations like this that makes me angry at myself for not going to school right out of h.s.

Woohoo mine changed this morning too. I was originally told the 5th then that changed to the 16th. This morning it says "it will be deposited on the
12th!!"

Mine was in the account this morning as well. Spot on the date they'd upped it to. :thumbsup2
