Federal income tax refunds

So, DH called the IRS tonight to get an update and you won't believe what they are telling us now: now it doesn't have a date. It is still in processing. They told him to call back next week. This is unbelievable, they tell people to file electronically to speed up the process and yet this happens. It's not like we had a completed return. Let's see what happens tomorrow. A foot note: the lady he spoke with was unbelievably rude. She kept saying:"you know we have 3 weeks to process it, so don't call back until that time frame is up". He about dropped the phone, but kept his cool.

I was just getting on here to post the SAME thing!

I am PISSED about this 3 weeks business. I was told 8-14 days to receive a refund. I didn't assume it would be 8-14 days after the damn thing was processed. I should have spent the extra couple hundred dollars and done the RAL with h&r block again. Would have had my money the same day or even a couple days.

Is it bad that I am finding comfort in this thread because it lets me know I'm not alone?

Is it bad that I am finding comfort in this thread because it lets me know I'm not alone?

I cannot even properly express the rage that has entered me (for a brief moment) when I read that people who have filed AFTER me have already received their refunds while mine won't be here until the 16th, if I am lucky. It makes me want to throw up a little.

It is at least putting me at ease that its not being held up because something is wrong with my return. I'm also waiting on my school to refund my loans and grants so I have to direct my anger at the IRS because I can't be mad at school just yet!

How do you even get a hold of anyone at the irs directly. everytime i call, it only gives me refund info recorded, no options on the menus to talk to anyone, yet the site says they are open until 10 local time?? Most of the day, my refund info showed up online, saying feb 16, from the original feb 5 and then feb 9. then since noon, it says info is unavailable for me and has been that way all day now. the recorded info says feb 16. What is going on?????

I called the very first number on the contact irs page. I don't listen to options, just hit zero til it takes me to someone

then you have to hold forever to talk to someone who directs your call, then some more holding. depending on time of day, you could hold forever. i've held for almost an hour this week. they are open from 7 - 10 (EST).

Mine came in this morning. After 3 date changes (my return was accepted the 28th), it was there this morning. Hope everyone gets theirs ! Just keep checking

Ok,got an update from the wonderful irs: apparently the error was fixed, but the lady said she didn't know how it affected our return yet. she said to call back next friday morning b/c the updates only happen once a week, which is thursday night. our return status won't change before next friday morning.
the item that is causing all the problems this year for 1000's of people is the schedule m (making work pay), which is line 63 of 1040. she asked what i put there and i told her, her response was: "that is what i would have thought". so, we are in limbo right, don't know what our refund is, will be or won't be.

Mine showed up this morning unexpectedly I didnt get it done till the 30th, was accepted on the 31st which should have meant a deposit date of 2/12, and the website orginally said the 16th (like everyone else) then on Wed it changed to the 8th, and showed up today (the 5th)...so go figure I was pleasantly surprised! Off to pay bills, and buy airfare!

What did you put there LOL I used Turbo Tax, so it filled in all the blanks. I hope ours isn't put in Limbo because of that....we didn't even need that credit, we have an adoption credit carryforward that we're using....so that would be harsh to be put on 3 week hold because of something that didn't even help us or effect our refund.

The website that I was directed to said that if mine was accepted by the 4th by 11am that I would get a direct deposit refund on the 12th of February....wonder why the big difference in dates but the same refund date. I hope ours comes on time....gotta pay off some bills and the sooner the better. The longer they make me wait...the more ways I can figure out how to spend it LOL

$800. We used turbo tax also. I just looked at schedule m and everything was done correctly, so I don't know what to expect. All she said was this is happening to 1000's of people.

when I rechecked this am the date for my refund has changed to the 16th but if you look on the chart on page 1 of this thread there is no dd dates for the 16th. Can I hope to get my refund on the 12th. I was hoping for today because by that chart it was suppose to be today!:confused

I used the wheresmyrefund website via the IRS. It was really weird how it changed. But like I said, as of today it is in my account....not even in pending, which I figured it would be till Monday.

I actually called last night around 8:45pm and was talking to someone who could actually do something within 15-20 minutes.
