For those who have taken trips during the first weekof February I would like to hear about your experience concerning crowds, weather, etc... We are looking into doing a Disney cruise and thought about going in February and want to do the parks first before the cruise. Since we have usually gone in March we know what to expect for crowds and even the weather. Would anyone have any idea if there are usually cheerleading competitions going on around the first week of February? I know to avoid President's week since that is suppose to be crazy that week. Any input would really help plan this trip since nothing yet is booked. Thanks

I've been twice the first week of February 2002 and 2003. I stayed at All Star Sports the first year and Pop Century the 2nd year. Both times we were there with cheerleaders. However the cheerleaders were never noticed by us at all. I live near Boston so Florida weather was great. We never once wore jackets though it did get too cold for shorts after sunset. We were at the parks from opening to closing most days. We never once waited in any line over 5 -10 minutes either trip. Almost everything was a walk on. We didn't do many thrill rides (little kids) so don't know about those. We swam once each trip but could have swam more. I'm going in January this year so a friend taking college classes can come but otherwise I would have probably booked the first week of February again. In terms of the cruise we found the weather comfortable in January (Eastern) but not all that warm for swimming on the disney island.

Crowds are not bad in Febraury as you said, except for President's week.

Weather is completely unpredictable. you could have days near 80 with cool mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing and afternoons in the 40s. Both of those scenarios could happen within a few days of each other, so pack everything you own!

We were there this past Feb 5 - 12. It was very crowded. From reading these boards at the time, it seems it was unusally crowded for that time of year. But the cheerleading comps were there, the Grey cup (I think that's what it was - the big football thing) was in Jacksonville, it was start of NASCAR in Daytona, which may all have been contributing factors - people were in Florida anyway, might as well go to WDW. We stayed at Pop and it was filled to capacity (we arrived a night earlier and couldn't get a room). As for the weather, we had a variety - it was cool in the mornings, one day it was really cold (50's I think) and a couple of days were in the 80's. Most days were low 70's.

We had a similar senario a few years ago (4?) only it was also Marid Gras! It was not crowded when we arrived (we had done a Wed-Tues trip) but each day the crowd increased and by the day we left it was very crowded! So I guess Feb. just depends on what falls during the month. In '06 Mardi Gras is late, I don't know about the 500 week.

Weather can be anything. We had a couple of warm days, went to the pool and waterpark. We had a couple of rainy, cold days where we wore gloves and polar fleece coats!

Good luck.

We were there Jan 28-Feb 4, 2005 and had the BEST time. The crowds were VERY light and the weather was very pleasant. The mornings were cool, mid 50's, but quickly warmed into the 70's-80's. Then again at dusk it cooled off into the 50's. We didn't see any cheerleaders.
These photo's were taken around 3:30pm on a Wed. I only took the photos because it was the emptiest I've ever seem MK! It was an overcast day but no rain.

I've gone the first weekend in Feb for the last couple of years. I always enjoy calling back to Massachusetts, while my friends are knee deep in snow in ice, and telling them that I'm walking around in shorts and a t-shirt. The crowd's tend to be lighter than usual, but the parks do fill up as the day goes on. The dance squads and cheerleaders aren't that big of a deal (besides, they spend much of the time competing). That being said, they do have a tendency to practice their routines on the bus.
For me, it's a perfect time to go, and I'd have a hard time getting through a cold New England winter without that early Feb trip.

First week in Feb is great! :cool1:

Not crowded at all. No lines or very short wait (<10 mins). A little cool first thing in the morning, but warm by mid-morning. Might get a little cool late at night (after dark). Dress in layers. We went the 1st week of Feb 2003 and are going back for 2 weeks (end of Jan into Feb) :cool1:

Sounds like a great time to go, thanks for all the replys. We will only be doing the parks for 4 days and then we will be off to enjoy our cruise. It so happens that we will be cruising on Valentines Day so I am pretty excited. And as far as the crowds go in Feb. we always go in March so I know what to expect from crowds, it will be a pleasant surprise if the parks aren't so crowded. And as far as the weather I know that we will have to pack a little bit of everything from our winter clothes to our Florida clothes..thanks again for the replys.

My experience has been the same as many above, the first week or so in feb is AWESOME. the weather is great, the crowds are low. and the prices are great!!! You'll enjoy yourselves.

Feb is a great time to go. see my siggy! The weather can be a bit cool in the morning but it is great to walk aroung in the afternoon and not sweat!
We left on Valentine's day in 2004 and the crowds were increasing since it was also Pres day week. We always go to FL the week before Pres week and come home that weekend.
2005 was calm until after the weekend of the 4 fecta! There were just waves of people coming into the MK on Monday about 11:30 am. we left! :rotfl:

I've been going the first weekend in February for the past 2 years and it's great. Weather is fairly warm (Sweater at night is nice), crowds are non-existant and rides closes for rehabs tend not to be too bad (maybe one or two)
