February 9, 2012 3 Night Bahamian Dream Cruise

Checking in as the 100 day countdown begins!

Just received my notice of final payment from DCL for this cruise. :cool2: I guess that I had better gather the money!

Hi Everyone!!! :wave2:

My sister and I will be cruising with you!

This is my second Disney cruise (last one was Feb 2005) and my sister's third.

I can't wait to see the Dream!!!

We are so excited and even did a Countdown calendar for the first time ever!!!

Now, off to join the FE group!

We are a family of 5 (Myself, my DH, DD7, DD5 and DS3) embarking on our first DCL experience!!!
My DH will be home from Afghanistan on his mid-deployment leave; being the die hard Disney addicts that we are, we couldn't think of a better place to spend our precious family time then WDW- until we remembered that Disney has a cruise line!!

Now we will be squeezing a six day stay at WDW and this three day cruise into his short fourteen day leave window. The best part of the whole thing is that my kids have no idea about any of it- that Dad will be home, that we are going on a trip and then that once we are done with the WDW part that there is a cruise to follow-(it won't be until we are in the car heading for the airport to return home as far as they are concerned, that the cruise will be revealed!) the whole two weeks is going to be like one dream come true after another for our dear babies! I have never been so excited about a trip in my whole life!!! :woohoo:
So, that being said what does a first timer need to know??:confused3

This is absolutely wonderful!! I hope you all have a wonderful time!

Just wanted to say hello! We just booked today -- thanks to the great military rate! This will be our 2nd cruise on the Dream! It's fantastic. We also sailed in May.

I'll be celebrating my 40th birthday :scared1: Actually, it's the day after we get back so we will be off the boat -- but I'm celebrating the entire week.

We are heading to the Yacht Club for a couple of days post-cruise and I'm trying to decide if we are going to stay at Port Canaveral or at French Quarter or Pop prior to the trip for one night. hmmmm.....

It will be my DH and DD - 4 on this trip and we can't wait. The last trip was with my parents -- which was lovely but very different than a trip with just the three of us!

We LOVE the Dream and can't wait to go back!

Welcome!!

We are in the process of changing our 8A to a Cat 5A with the FL Res rate (!!!) - love saving money ($450) for upgrading to a verandah!!!

So, soon, Room 5522 will be available if anyone is interested (it's the huge double porthole room that looks like a mini-suite!).

We'll update our stateroom on the FE list as well.

We just changed our reservation from a porthole room on deck 2 to a gty verandah room and saved $50 in the process. I had to cancel current reservation and rebook on a non-refundable room as it's for new ressie only. Also, final payment needed to be made.

I called DCL and had them cancel and rebook the ressie so they could apply the deposit. I lost the $25 onboard credit for booking online but verandah plus saving $50 is worth it in my opinion.

Looking forward to sailing in Feb! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info!! :thumbsup2 :worship:

I called DCL to ask about this and we too moved our ressies to a verandah and saved about $400 per room! :woohoo:  It did cost us the room credit we had for booking onboard but that is still about $300 saved plus a BIG upgrade in rooms. pirate: We even got rooms together. :thumbsup2

Again, thanks!

Happy to help :thumbsup2 This happened to us in Aug 2010 as well - the DIS let me in on the FL resident rates :goodvibes What would we do without it???

We too lost the $100 on board credit from rebooking onboard, but we get now get $100 OBC from our travel agent for now booking a verandah room (instead of the $50 previously), so we are only out $50 on board credit. Since we saved $450, I am happy!!

I usually transfer our ressies to Dreams Unlimited but because it was so short and the "pay-off" wasn't that great I didn't do it for this cruise but now it has become better. :thumbsup2

Isn't the military rate AMAZING!! This will be our first trip with the kids but without my parents. We love having them along, but I do think this will be very different! Look forward to cruising with you!

Just curious - why don't you just book with them from the get go?

Isn't the military rate AMAZING!!!

The military rates and Florida resident rates are the same for this cruise ~ since they have released both, I am guessing that our cruise isn't very full :thumbsup2
