February 8th 2014 Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Cruise Meet

2014!!! :goodvibes
My son and I have not ever been to either Disneyland or Disneyworld! We are planning to do Seaworld the day before the cruise.
From what I've heard, if you only have one day, it's not worth going to WDW because there is too much to do and it's overwhelming. Anyone have an opinion on that????

My husband has been to Disneyland but I'm not sure what year(s) that was.

Oh my goodness I would never say that! If I had one day near Disney I would still go. Just have a plan! Pick one park and review which rides you really want to try before you go. Arrive at rope drop and stay all day. No matter how long you stay you leave wanting more and knowing you didn't see everything. Just start budgeting for a return trip because you are going to be hooked!
Also consider using touringplans.com - they have good plans that can be personalized so you can see a lot of what interests you, even in one day!

First time to WDW:
Me - at age 10, 1993
DH - at age 8, 1988
DD - at age 2, 2010-2011 - went over the new year and despite the crowds it was magical!

First time to DLR:
Me - at age 15 or 16, 1998 approx
DH and Dd - 2011 - we all loved it but cars land wasn't open yet so we can't wait to return

Kathy, I am thinking along the same path as you....this seems to be a very active group.....yay!!:cool1: I am a lot like you and tend to be a disneyholic even at the ripe old age of 42 and a grandma myself haha. I have made disney fanatics out of my kids as well and my husband just goes along with everything and anything. He has been an at home dad for almost twenty years and is PERFECT at it! So for him, this is a vacation away from dad duty!

I am all for t shirts and will take them anyway we decide to get them. This last cruise, our oldest daughter made all our t shirts and did a fantastic job!! She used the iron on transfers as well and they turned out great! So if that is what the council decides (do you hear a little Lord of the rings in there?), count us in!! We are easy going and will go along with the majority. :thumbsup2

This is the first Eastern itinerary for us, so we are doubly excited. We have always done the Western.....we didn't even get off the ship this last time until we pulled in to Castaway Cay haha

Shannon

I think the shirts sound like a lot of fun:thumbsup2
As this is our first cruise, I don't have anything to compare against but I love reading everyone's posts/ideas/stories!!! Count us in for the shirts. I think the iron on transfers would get my vote for being the easiest to coordinate but we'll do whatever the group decides!!

I'm in for matching shirts, but I will say my kids already think I'm crazy. And I agree the print and iron on sounds easiest.

Most looking forward too? We are planning a week in WDW before this cruise, so for the cruise part I am most looking forward to the relaxation. I really want to try the rainforest spa thing and on our last Disney cruise my DH and I treated ourselves to the couples massage (twice) so definitely want to do that again.
The other thing I am most looking forward to is we talked extended family into joining us on this cruise, I love to share Disney. So much for a short answer.

Previous trips:
Honeymoon to DL in 1995 (1st for me)... Disneyland I mean, not honeymoon, but that was first too (and only)
Family to DL in 2005 & 2008
Family to WDW in 2010.
First DCL in 2011.

Kathy.... I want to be you or live in your house. I so wish we could go that often. We definitely need to move.

Your more than welcome as long as the dogs dont mind sharing their bedroom with you. ;) Thats all the extra space we have right now. If you bring some kind of meat as a peace offering I'm sure they wont mind. :rotfl2:

Hopefully by this cruise we will have bought a different place and have an extra room. We are looking but havnt found anything yet.:confused3

Kathy

Good morning everyone,

Looks like the matching shirts is a go for people. Hopefully in the next few days some more people will voice their opinions on it.

I will hold off again on the question of the day to see if someone else has one today.

We did get a good one yesterday.

Not sure if anyone is interested but 2 other kinds of meets I have had on other cruises were:

On a sea day: A ladies only meet. Usually in an adult area of the ship. Just to sit and chat about the cruise, family, funny stories and stuff men dont want to hear us chat about.;) Usually lasts about an hour.

Scrapbooking meet:
For those who sign up everyone makes one scrapbooking page to give. Usually cruise themed. So if 5 people particiapte(including yourself) you will get 4 pages and give 4 pages in return.
Some just make one page to show what it looks like and then package up the pieces they used and give to people so they make their own page when they get home. That saves on space in the luggage.

Pin trading meet:

Just pick a day and time and place to gather for a few minutes to trade Disney trading pins. This is casual and kids are also invited to bring their pins or lanyards with pins on them. They usually have 1 pin trading meet on the ship too.

If anyone is interested in any of these speak up. I can keep a list of those interested and then those participating can pick the place and time to meet.

Due to excursions most meets are on sea days which means we have 3 days for everything. So plenty of time to do everything we want.

Any other ideas for extra meets, speak up!!:thumbsup2

Now is the time to throw ideas out there for everyone to have fun discussing and deciding what this group wants to do.

Good morning all!! It's beginning to look a little like spring here in good old Colorado Springs....finally!!

My two DD's and I would love to join the scrapbooking meet. I am not crafty in any way, shape, or form :scared: but my DD19 is fantastic at it and my little one just loves to be involved in anything and everything!.

So for our group, you can count us in for the initial meet and greet, the t shirts, the FE activity, and now the scrapbooking....yay!! :cool1:

On our 2008 Christmas cruise, we had an ornament exchange and it was so neat. My DD19 is trying hard to come up with something similar, but Valentine's themed. Anyone have any ideas? So far, we have thought of a valentine cookie recipe exchange or homemade valentine card exchange....both of which are not very creative ugh We are huge holiday celebrators in our house, can you tell (we even went all out for St. Patrick's on our first cruise haha)

I like the idea of a valentines receipe exchange. It could be cookies that are cut in heart shapes or receipes for a romantic dinner? Lots of great dessert recieps out there for that theme.

Ornaments are nice but so easy to break if your flying. Those guys really toss around the lugggage.
Maybe everyone could give it some thought and see what we come up with.
Tell DD to keep thinking!!!

I will start a tentative list for a scrapbooking meet and we will see what happens. place, time and date to be set later and exact details.
I will start with you and both your DD's and myself and see what happens from there.:thumbsup2

Here is an easy question of the day:

Are you or any members of your family planning on dressing up like a Pirate on Pirate night?

My answer:

Yes, I love to dress up on pirate night.
DH usually wears a pirate t-shirt and bandana and he has been looking for a pirate hat to wear.

Kathy

You can count me in on the scrapbooking exchange! I have done scrapbooks for each of my boys and I love to do it! However, I am not super crafty so my pages aren't anything spectacular! Hope that's ok with everyone :rotfl2:

A valentine's exchange sounds like fun too. I don't have any other suggestions at this point, but I'll let you know if I think of any other ideas. I like both the homemade card exchange and the cookie recipe exchange :cool1:

Hope you all are having a great day!

I am NOT crafty either but I do have fun with it. Thats the whole idea is to have fun!!

I have added you to the list.:thumbsup2

We will get into more details after we get a few more people. Glad to see a few people here like scrapbooking, besides me.

Kathy

Hi There. Sorry for being behind in the questions of the day. its been a pretty hectic week.

Yes! We plan to dress up for pirate night! pirate:pirate:pirate:

If I can find something that fits I will dress up for pirate night. My 2 older DD's will be going to the BBB and the baby has a pirate outfit I bought on sale at the Disney store. DH may wear a pirate themed t-shirt but that's about it! pirate:

Please add me to the scrapbook meet, that sounds fun.

As to dressing up, I think everyone in the family will to different degrees.

We wont do much for pirate night. Maybe t-shirts if Amanda's from last year still fits ;)
