February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

Marie, welcome back, I was wondering where you were. I think your dolphin excursion is right near Playa Uvas, you should definately come by! I booked Rum point beach for Grand Cayman, but I might cancel. I need to bang heads together here for a straight answer! nobody wants to commit.

I will have my lime green ribbon on at the port, I can't wait to see everyone else. I'll probably be driving my family crazy with "was she wearing a green ribbon?, look for a green ribbon!" haha. I can see it now, "wait I'm looking for green ribbons", my dd was like, "tell me you are NOT going to wear a tee shirt or something with your group name" hahaha now that's an idea! I can totally embarass her before we even get on the ship!

Pg, I know I'm soooo excited. It's absolutely freezing here today, snow and ice EVERYWHERE! Can't wait for the warmth.

so I have fun question for everyone, We love the part of the cruise when you board the ship and they announce your family name. I've heard other families call themselves some funny things, so I'm wondering for all you cruise veterans, do any of you do that or are you thinking of doing that? I'm thinking I may do it differently this time, give them a funny name or something. I gotta think of something good though....

Off for breakfast, be back later

Michelle

Michelle, I see you've received the parent handbook and have read it cover to cover as well. I tell my kids that as soon as you become a parent you are given the handbook and only parents can see it. The rules read on one of the 1st pages, (I believe page 10 section 3) that "All parents MUST embarrass their child or children at every opportunity possible and when an opportunity doesn't arise we are bound by parental law to create an opporunity!" You go girl, holding up your parental oath of embarrassment! I won't wear a lime shirt at boarding only because I'm hoping to coordinate our clothes for a nice family pix...but If I wasn't...who knows how much lime I'd have on :rotfl:

I also love the idea of giving a funny family name :lmao: I can only imagine what some people come up with. Too new to the whole Disney criusie experience not to want to soak in hearing our name one more time. Next cruise...watch out for the funky name. I only hope I remember your suggestion because our next crusie may be many years off.

My DS, Bailey, woke up the morning and told me, "mama...my chin doesn't even hurt." So we are on the road to recovery. Stitches will be out 1 week before cruise and hopefully the bruising will have disipated some also. Always thinking of our photo shoots.;)

We're so excited that in 2 weeks we'll be on our way to Orlando!!! Yesterday we did a little last minute clothes shopping which was great. We went to the outlets near us and I found some capris for $7 that should last through my whole pregnancy :) which made DH happy to hear that we won't have to be doing too much maternity shopping when we get back :lmao:

Plus if anyone else needs any last minute FE gifts or extras we stopped by KB toys and they are having an amazing sale. Or if anyone wants to stock up on outfits for Halloween they had them for 90% off!

So here's what we have planned for all the excursions:
Key West: Back to Nature Kayak tour
Grand Cayman: Atlantis Submarine at 12:15
Cozumel: Mexican Cuisine and Tasting workshop 10:45
Castaway Cay: Personal Watercraft Eco tour 11

Playa Uvas sounds fun but DH can only take so much beach and until I'm 100% that I can find a swimsuit that will cute on my new shape I'm not committing ourselves to any beachtime. Luckily Target had suits in their ad today so maybe I can find something.

dceks cruisers - the cost of bingo depends on how many chances you want during each game and usually the cost increases the longer the cruise goes on. I think in the beginning the cheapest was $18 for 4 rounds with 6 cards.

As the resident DH of these boards, I feel like an outcast. I am bringing a jacket, constantly planning and have tried on my clothes (DW helped force that one on me).

I know I'm outnumbered here, but I find everything you gals write entertaining.

My DH constantly asks me what's going on with our thread! You are not alone! I caught DH and DBIL surfing the DIS looking for info, we were out to eat and they individually started giving me tips and suggestions!!!:rotfl:

Good morning from cool but sunny Orlando!

You have to give me the scoop on the weather for 2/4-2/7!!! I am nervous about what to pack for our days at AKV. The weatherman is never right anymore!!!

9 DAYS!!!!
till we leave for AKV!!!!

it is always so difficult packing when coming from a colder climate and going to a warmer climate which has such temp changes like Orlando/Daytona may have in Feb. We were down one Feb where we had coats on the whole week and another with raincoats and sweatshirts and some others where (more of this type) where we were in shorts and bathing suits. Our luggage is stuffed because you need to pack for everything sometimes. Good luck carrying that ;)

I hope you and everyone else travelling before the cruise get nothing but :beach: as do we who are staying a week in Daytona after the cruise.

:mic: Calling on the good weather fairy, "We've been such good Valentine Voyagers. Please, oh, please give us all perfect weather:beach: . So perfect we can brag to our friends and families left behind in the cold :lmao: " That last statement may ruin my chances of a good weather week but doncha just feel so devilish telling everyone who has been freezing about your warm sunny days!

We are first time cruisers so will take any advice. Do people bring their own beach towels at all or is it all DCL issued towels? Has anyone done a Harley drive on Key West? My DH would love that. I had another ? but I never seem to remember it when I'm online!:sad2:

I usually don't bring a towel to save space. Disney towels are just regular white towels and not beach towel size, to take more than one.

Oh my on the Harley drive on key West, didn't even know they had rentals for that if they do I love to hear about the information. I'm a rider as well. I don't have a harley, but I have a want-to-be suzuki cruiser and ride regularly. Even to work each day in good weather.

I have to do some more research... not sure were all I would ride that wouldn't be just in the town. more research

Hi!

Hope you are leaving before two weeks or the ship will leave without you...:wave2:

We are looking at doing the cuisine workshop as well. We did it the last time we were in Cozumel and it was a lot of fun. The drinks flowed VERY freely and the food was great. I tried to sign up today but the website seems to be having issues. Anyone else having problems?

We are supposed to be near or at 80* this week. 85* by Thursday. Seems that our cold snap has gone away for this week anyway. It is 70* right now and we have the back door open for some fresh air! Hoping to sail with the verandah door open for most of the trip. :thumbsup2

Wheeww!! I feel better!

Ok so I am DETERMINED to start packing today!!! Yes, today is the day! :laundy:

dceks cruisers:
We have done the stingrays on Grand Cayman, the water was about 5-6 feet, my husband was the only one who could touch bottom but they make everyone wear inflatable life vests. It's an experience.. have fun!

As for beach towels, they supply small white ones at the pool, as for the beach, I'm sure you could sneak a pool towel or two, I plan on doing it. They do sell Disney Beach towels onboard as well.

Namsupak...when I read your post I went running to the calendar! Whew...less than two weeks! Yay!

Ok-- today I pledge to get my butt in gear and put cruise stuff together... Yes, I will go (with Passporter in hand) to get the last-minute items that my empty suitcases are calling out for and I will (I WILL) order the costumes for my children for pirate night so they don't have to be buck naked bucccaneers :) Yes... I will...

Now... To pull myself away from the computer...

PS-- the forecast for the next ten days (through Feb. 3) in GC and Cozumel is a bunch of rain... Which means, Mother Nature should have all the water out of her system by the time we get there... She's just wringing herself out so she'll be nice and dry for us! :thumbsup2

I think the only way to book it is thru the cruise website which seems to be acting up. I am going to try it again in a few minutes. It is $79 and includes transportation, lunch and lots of drinks. We did it and had a great time.

Jill

okay so between loads of laundry :laundy: i re-made ressies for PUPS at 11, phew i feel better! hubby and DD8 are doing the ruins so i am gonna chill with the PUPS and DD6! she will have a blast with not having to share mommy time with her big sis!

Michelle, I believe we are all going to meet at the cab stand when we get off the ship and then head over there together cab by cab? Unless you all think we should meet together on the ship before getting off? We may have a flag to put up at the beach so we can find each other.

I think we are definately going to wear green ribbon at terminal too.

Princess, I have no idea, but I don't remember seeing anything (or not seeing anything) when we were there last.

michelle

Everyone HAS been busy out here!

Your FE looks gorgeous Susan, as does the BAG - WOW! You are very talented!

My FE is a bag that I decorated as I don't have a sewing machine. I will have to relearn when I get one again, its been awhile. The guys like it so that is a good thing!

Can you believe we're this close? I can watch the 10 day forecast in two days for snowstorms in Cinci! I figure if the snow comes, we can drive down and we WILL... but no snow would be the best....

Think Positive.

Uva's looks fabulous. We may end up joining you all, but I need to talk to DH about it.

See you all soon!
