February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

Welcome to all the new folks!!!! :wave2:

So is everyone done packing??
I haven't even started.
I haven't started my door signs either! I still need to get my DD a formal dress and shoes and I need to get snorkel gear cause my DH doesn't want to rent the gear. THEN I need to get my shoes too. AND THEN I need to get an underwater camera. AND THEN I still need to get some more tops and capris to wear. AND THEN my daughter has a science project due on March 9th which means I gotta help her do that now too! :headache:

I think I procrastinated a little too long this time guys. :scared1:

OH! I heard that there's a chocolate fountain at the midnight buffet on Pirate night!! I LOVE THOSE!
Has anyone ever put their face in one?
I know it's not sanitary but I've always wanted to do that.

I was just telling my husband last night how some of you guys have been having cruise nightmares...then mine came:

Somehow I got on the shuttle bus from the hotel with all of our luggage, then got off the shuttle without my husband seeing. He got on the shuttle with the kids, saw that I wasn't on there and got off to look for me. But he left the kids on the shuttle and the shuttle left! It took several minutes to find me so the shuttle was long gone before we realized that the kids were on their own. This shuttle bus was a huge bus loaded with luggage and strangers and my poor babies were all alone! Okay, they aren't exactly babies, 9 and 4, but still! :scared: We found ourselves in the middle of a bunch of grey concrete buildings, everything was deserted, with no cars around to help us and we had no idea how to get to the cape. We started walking but we didn't know if it was in the right direction and I was bawling!

I woke up without ever having gotten to the kids! I told DH about the dream and he assured me that would never happen because he would never leave out children alone. I guess he found himself feeling like he needed to defend his actions:laughing:

My goal is to be all packed by Sunday. I started working on DS's stuff today. He's the easy one as I pretty much had to buy all new stuff for him anyway, so it's already sorted out. DD's is another story, we need to pull her stuff out from last summer to see what still fits and what doesn't so that we know what we need to buy. She's so busy with homework, school, girl scouts (as a matter of fact, I should be on my way to pick her up right now) and dance that we just haven't had a chance, so that is tomorrows project. DH and I still need to pick up a few more things for ourselves and we've got a babysitter for tomorrow night specifically to go out and get those things done. If we can get all the packing done by Sunday, then the next few days can be spent clearing up loose ends around the house like taking care of bills that need to be paid while we are gone, getting the house ready for the housesitter (pet food, etc.), and getting nice and organized for our 15+ drive down to the Port.

We won't start packing until Wed or Thurs night but we will bring e/t down from the loft this weekend. A week from tomorrow we will be on a flight to Orlando I told DH about the maybe launch on the 27th and I think I may have him thinking about flying down earlier Maybe???:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Is anyone else having bad feelings about your tablemates for dinner?? We had a really bad experience on our NYE 07 cruise (which I will share in person) that this is the one thing that I am really nerveous about for this cruise. We lucked out on Sept 08 cruise because it was family and we all sat together and than when we went in Nov 08 we meet up with a friend from the Sept cruise and we were able to get a table together. Hopefully NYE 07 will not repeat itself in Feb 09 :scared1: :scared1:

I am starting the packing in about 20 mins.

I am nervous about table mates, I am shy, but friendly, we have had to share tables with strangers before at Biertgarten in Epcot, 3 out 4 times it has been ok, we were seated with nice people, some more quiet than others, and only once the quiet was just uncomfortable.

I hope we get good table mates, they don't have the be outstanding, but I can't deal with terrible manners (chewing your food extra loud with your mouth open, burping, picking noses etc) or obnoxious behavior. I cringe when I dine with somebody that won't be happy no matter how the staff bends over backwards, it always makes me miserable, I waited tables for a while when I was in high school, so I know what it is like. I am hoping for the best and crossing my fingers :thumbsup2

I'm not nervous about tablemates and I'm on two cruises only one cruise we didn't have great tablemates that was september 2007 and they weren't bad just not great like others have been so I've had good luck with tablemates:goodvibes, I'm not packed and I leave tomorrow at 7:00am to head to the airport:lmao:

I wasn't nervous about tablemates until you guys brought it up! I am a pretty social person, and my son is full of personality, so we can usually hold our own. I hadn't thought about the poor manners or poor attitude though! What a way to ruin an evening, and it this case it would be several evenings! :headache:

Oh well! It is what it is and I'm not going to let anyone else spoil one moment of this amazing cruise that we are going to be on!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

:goodvibes I was reading your posts to see what you all have planned for your trip next week. My family will be in severe packing/planning mode in a month. Well, who am I kidding, it will be all me doing packing and last minute planning.

Anyway, I noticed from Audra's post that you have two girls, Lauren & Megan and so do I. My Lauren is 10 and Megan is 6. (Megan will turn 7 on our trip.) I have met at least 5 families with a Lauren and Megan in fact my friend who had twins asked me if I minded if she copied both of my daughters first AND middle names. Just goes to show we picked excellent names. :thumbsup2
Anyway I hope you all have a great time and beautiful weather!:goodvibes

Well I guess I have technaly started packing. I picked up some dry cleaning and just handed it to the wife and said here you go.

The Ejkj family for one is very much looking forward to our tablemates!!!!!!
We are linked with the Story's, :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: and can NOT wait!!!!
Remember Johnna, you said I can have a small sampling of your food every night LOL!!!! :lmao: :lmao:
Or was that Mark who said I could do that???? :confused3

But yes I can understand your worry.
For us, dinner is one of the highlights of our trips, and I am happy to say that we have been very fortunate on all our cruises as far as tablemates go. And this cruise will be no exception!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

A BIG WELCOME to all our newbies!!!! Looking forward to meeting everyone!!!

Vanessa...you are making my head spin.. girl!!!!!! You need to remember Johnna's advice and breathe in with the good air out with the bad!!!!!
If you didn't need a vacation before, you will surely be needing one after this coming week!!!!! :faint: LOL!!!!!

Packing.....is still on my list of things to do LOL!!!!! The girls are both going to be gone this weekend, so I guess I will have no excuses not to at least get started, actually I do have cruise piles started and all my washing and ironing taken care of so it SHOULD be relatively easy,
Yeah right LOL!!!!! Packing is NEVER easy!!!!!:scared1:

Marla...you are giving that saying "Waiting to the LAST Minute" A true meaning!!!!!! :lmao: :lmao:
I guess that is what you can do when you only have to pack underwear for yourself and not your kids and husband LOL!!!!!!:lmao: :lmao:
In your hurry scurry to pack, if you forget anything, let us know and we will bring it to you next week LOL!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Okay, since it will be Friday when you all read this, I will wish you all
"A Happy Friday"!!!! Enjoy the weekend!!!
This is our LAST weekend before the Cruise:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Can't believe it is ALMOST here!!!!!

That is just soooooo cool. Ours are Lauren Jessica and Megan Nicole.

They are VERY excited and we are counting days and sleeps until we leave for Florida on the 27th. We will get to OTown and my mum-in-law will pick us up and we will stay in Palm Bay for the night and drive to the port the next morning. We will be one of the first ones to board I am sure. We are all THAT excited!

Enjoy your cruise SandieT and tell YOUR Lauren and Megan we said we hope they have a lifetime of fun!

Packing humm have I started? Well I did go through all of mine and the girls clothes and they are set aside, did a little ironing as well. Suitcases are all still in the basement though and I keep thinking of little things I need to pack like sunscreen, but I just can't start! I still have this birthday party I NEED to work on right now. I usually do parties on Sunday's so I have all day Saturday to prepare but I'm a Sunday School teacher and they have this big art fair planned for this Sunday that I need to be at so the birthday party had to be on Saturday. Somehow between tonight and tomorrow morning I need to get the whole house company ready, decorated and all the food prepared and cooked! So far the house is clean but not 'company ready' and the cake is baked and frosted, not decorated, food is bought but obviously not cooked. I put my mom on the jello task today. :lmao: Thought her and the birthday girl could have fun making that so that is one less thing to do, as minor as it is I'm glad I won't have to deal with it. As soon as the art fair is over the packing will begin! Perhaps I'll get the suitcases out after we clean up the party but I have a feeling I'll be too tired to deal with it at that time.

I told DH about the dream and he assured me that would never happen because he would never leave out children alone. I guess he found himself feeling like he needed to defend his actions:laughing:

It is your subconsious saying you think your DH would leave the kids alone. I'd be defending my actions as well. :lmao:

Is anyone else having bad feelings about your tablemates for dinner??

I'm not to nervous, we never had BAD tablemates. Dh and I can usually make good of a bad situation but if not this time I'll just ask to be moved, even if it means going to late dinner. I just can't let dinner ruin my trip.

Right back atcha girlfriend! We are looking forward to it just as much as you!:yay:

And I'm going to request that all of our meals be served "family style" - so it's a big buffet every night for all of us. Or we just all have to order something different each night and just pass the plates around for a sampling.

Yeah - that's a great idea for this Weight Watcher...:sad2:

ONE WEEK PEOPLE!!!! :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Oh man! Wish I had thought of the linking dining thing. I am sure any of you guys would be awesome tablemates. Oh lordy, I can't imagine being able to finish dinner before dying of laughter if we sat with Dave and Micha :rotfl:

I can't believe that next week by now I'll be getting ready to hit the road and start this adventure. :cool1:

Yes, it would be awesome to share a table with anyone of you guys! We will be fine with whoever we end up sharing a table with. I keep telling myself it can't happen again!!:scared1: :scared1: Can't wait one more week and we fly to Orlando. :dance3: :dance3:

I feel like I'm missing something.

First, we've completed all the documents available online - payment authorization, passport info, etc.

Then, I printed off the "cruise contract" signature page.

Is this the only thing we need when we go to the terminal, plus passports?

I really feel like there must be something else.

Kristin

Can't wait! This is our 4th onboard the Magic. We have three daughters ages 3, 4 and 9.

Has anyone scheduled a fish extenders group?

The fish extenders are the decorative pockets that you hang outside of your stateroom door. Other cruisers and sometimes crew members fill these little pockets with goodies throughout the cruise and you do the same. Makes it fun for the kids. It's nice to have a group assembled of those interested in participating so we can share stateroom numbers and leave gifts for each other.
