February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

We for sure are doing door signs...and we are going the lamination and adhesive magnets route.

Anyone who wants inspiration just check out the DISigns section of the Disboards... it is almost at the bottom of the main page!:thumbsup2

Not sure yet what big signs I will end up with, but I got Tom over at his custom door signs thread

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1936740

to make me name tags for all 14 of us... mine looks like this:

I will probably go the laminated card stock/corner magnets route as well. My printer would probably NOT like magnetic paper.

Glad to hear it is warming up in Florida again... I am soooooo looking forward to getting away from winter for awhile.

Dave... you are scaring me, man. :scared:

I do NOT want to know what you have for my kids, so I will probably just ban them from the sailaway party and confine them to the stateroom for the whole cruise... :scared1: ...just kidding... but if it is anything to make them even worse than they are... I will personally pay your room steward to short sheet your bed. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Happy Hump Day everyone!!!

John

Will it be the ipod touch? My DH and I are totally addicted to ours!

Much as I love the idea of the Touch, I'm going to get the Nano. I don't really need all the features of the iTouch - I just want to have songs and the capability of video; we have two "old generation" nanos that don't have video capability, so I need (and perhaps deserve?) a new one.

Just one more press check in a couple of hours and I'll be done with it from here until May, that means no getting calls at ungodly hours of the night to check on color and registration of tickets. I'll be able to shut my cell phone off!!!! :yay:

Tonight I am going home, answer the phone one last time if they don't call me during work hours, gonna work out, eat a light dinner and the I'll just pass out. :woohoo:

Anybody else looking forward to Valentine's day? Just another excuse to go out to dinner on Saturday. :rotfl:

John - LOVE that sign!!!! And with just enough knowledge of Photoshop, I think I can make them for our family. :dance3:

Man.. how will I get ANY work done over the next two weeks?!?!?!?

What exactly do you do? I don't know that I could handle a job where they call me at all hours of the night to check on registration ticket colors! :confused3

And yes, we are looking forward to V-day on Saturday. Couple time without the kids is never easy to come by!

HA!! If my manager has them, I don't care if he's 6'3!! I'll DROP him!
I called my travel agency and they told me they were sent out on Monday! So they're in the mail!! WOO!
I need to get here guys..I need to!!!

This picture makes me take a deep breath and say "ahhhhhh....i will be here soon...." :beach:

I just made that my laptop background! I can't wait to get here! Plus we get to see it twice! Yippee!

As for tips: The standard per day for the waiters in the restaurant is $3.50 per person... so we always figured $1 per room service delivery was fair.

With the porters at the cruise terminal...we are just two guys with two suit cases and I usually give the the arrival porter $5. My feeling is if that's not enough for the 5 minutes my suitcase is going to be in his hand than he can take my other tip...which is "to get a new job."

Ha ha John! Let's just say that my mom's best friend and I are a lot alike and when I was little her favorite thing to do was to bring us kids really noisy toys or sticky taffy... stuff to drive my parents nuts. She is my inspiration. He he he

:rolleyes1 :rockband: party:

I love the CM tag John!
Hmmmm... thinking about making a couple for us too, maybe I will :surfweb:

Let me know if I can help anybody with their designs, I might be able to provide pointers or solutions to those using photoshop:3dglasses

I am a graphic designer for the lottery.
I work with a team of other 3 designers, we normally take turns with the press checks, the company that prints our scratch off tickets works 24 hrs a day, so they can call us at any time, we need to get up right then, check that the tickets look correctly and send them off to the presses for mass production.

I took the on-call duty for 2 months in a row since I wanted to make sure I had all my time available for the cruise. I just started this new job 2 months ago, so I hadn't quite racked up enough hours for a full week off, thank goodness for press checks though because now I am fully covered :woohoo:

I'm doing door signs, too. I have the nametag ones, they are great. I bought some magnet paper and will do some that way and some on photo paper with adhesive magnets. There are so many creative people on the Dis, I've found some great designs for my daughter's birthday.

It is just gorgeous here in Orlando today! 82 degrees and sunny blue skies. We're supposed to have nice weather until the beginning of next week when it gets cool again. But what I think of as 'cool,' others think of as warm!

Let's not forget that we know your room number, and our kids roaming in the hall with their new "souvenir" in front of your room when they wake up at 6:00 or 7:00 am may not be what you had intended...

This happened to friends - we went to the opening of Sesame Place one year and they gave all the kids "clappers" so they could clap as the characters walked the red carpet.

That night, our friends we kept awake by teens running up and down the halls, yelling, etc. until some ungodly hour. Their sweet revenge was letting their little ones run up and down the halls at 6:30 a.m. with their clappers.

I'm just sayin'...

Ness! I LOVE the New Yorker coming out in your posts! :rotfl:

Everyone... picture this post being said by Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny. :rotfl:

How many of you will be making door signs? How many do you plan to do?

I'm just starting to think it might be fun. I'll see how much time I can find between now and sail.

We are not doing the door thing. I know a lot of people like it, but I have never understood it. Also with being on a tight budget ever peeny I can divert from other things into my bar bill I want to do. So if the door stuff is only like 5 bucks, I look at that as another drink in the bar.

Johana,
When it comes to your iPod, did you get the apple care protection plan? Also did you look into the battery replacement that Apple provides? Of course if you really want a new one go for it. I was just wondering. If you have Apple Care that is still good for it you may get a new one free.

Thanks Alan for the tip. We got this iPod over 2 years ago - we actually didn't even buy it, but redeemed Marriott points for the Bose headset/iPod combination; I don't think it had any kind of warranty or care plan for it. I'm bringing it with me to the store, but I'm not terribly optimistic.

But you never know...:confused3

Hi Everyone!

I'm sitting in the ER with my DMIL. She has been complaining about being short of breath for the past couple of days so her doctor felt like she should go to the hospital to get checked out. Turns out she has pneumonia. Thank goodness it isn't anything more serious. She is 82 and is diabetic and has high blood pressure so you never know.

I'm glad I have my iPhone to read this thread & help pass the time.

Good luck. I was just asking because all I will buy is Apple stuff when it comes to gadgets. You will never find a windows computer in my place. My curentt mac is a new free one from the apple care plan. Something went wrong with the screen, I took it into the Apple Store, they could not figure out the problem. I was told I can have a new computer for free because I had Apple Care. The best part was, I got a upgraded computer because they had just stopes making my model six months eariler.
