February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

So today is DS's 10th birthday, and he is all excited now that he will be in the "older" group in the Oceaneer Lab. As fas as he is concerned, the cruise can't come soon enough (and I tend to agree) :)

Anyone else notice that DCL still has no info regarding St. Croix excursions on their website? It would be nice to know what is available so we can make some decisions before the booking window opens.

For those DCL veterans out there (especially on the Magic), is there a night that seems more popular for Palo on the 7-nighters? Not being Castaway Club members (first timers here), we can't book anything until 75 days out and were sort of wondering what the best time/chance to get a ressie would be (for 8 adults).

John

Yeah I was wondering the same about Palo.
We have the REAS package so we can reserve in advance, but I am trying to figure out when to do it.:confused3
I really would like to experience formal night at Lumiere's and Pirate Night at Parrot Cay, and I don't want to miss the show at Animator's Palate, but I am at a loss about when do these things happen. :lmao:

I am also playing with the idea of brunch at Palo or tea, I really love tea. :cool1:

Help?

Hi Everyone- We are on the bottom of page 2 :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: What is up with that???????

Oh BJ, just caught up to hear you and ejkj dad were sick. I am sooo sorry to hear that. Are you back to the surface now? Hospital :sad1: that was bad. I wish I could have come to help you. That is never fun....

Little Tinker is doing well. Literally the day before school started was her turn around day. We had to go through some issues after posting that delt with constipation from all of the narcotics and some dehydration because she would not drink anything including water.:sad2: She was in a lot more pain than I perdicted and I had to get up with her every couple of hours. The good thing is she lost 11 pounds  but has gained 2 back.

Okay, does the BUSHWACKER club have a new meet place??? Deck 4 with someone bringing us drinks. Sounds good to me.... BJ you can give them your KTWC as they run by and pick up the tab.:rotfl2:

We did go on and book the cat. 6 GTY from the 8. o now I have to just sit and find out our room.:headache: As long as it is not infront of the elevator, I will be good.

Can not say I will be taking the stairs. The only stairs I do is during the lifeboat drill and that is it.... I guess if I get upgraded to the Roy Suite, I could drag myself from deck 8 ALLLLLLLL the way up to Topsiders...:lmao:

Palo- I do not stress out like other DISers about Palo. Have never booked it at 90 days or 75 days. What the heck, I do not even pay DCL until 75 days out. I have never stressed and have actually always got in and on the days I want. I do not know if that is just luck or the fact that the DISers are very OCDish and stress over nothing. Would never dream to sit up at a computer to book the moment it opens.:confused3 I will probably aim at my birthday again. We will probably do both brunch and dinner on that day again. Last cruise I ended up there three times. So, if BJ does not mind, we might just tap in to your ressies again once on the ship as well. That was fun. I do not think any night is more popular than the other.

We have second dinner, so we just go around that.

I still have to wait on the airlines guys..... I am getting a little nervous..... Last year we booked in October....

Donna, someone told me the NEW members of the BUSHWACKER club has to pick up the tab for the first 3 days.....:rotfl2:

We are looking at the same rotation (PLAPLAP)... formal in Lumiere's, Pirates in Parrot Cay, see the show at Animator's. My original thought was either miss semi-formal (Thursday) or second Lumiere's (Wednesday) for Palo. Also would like to do brunch (although my wife, the tea fanatic, would love high tea, I can take it or leave it).

John

We have gone to Palo for both brunch and dinner. Brunch we will try to do with a group of all of you (it was a HOOT the last time - will have to try to dig up those pix) in the private room - it's a lot of fun.

As for dinner - we actually like to go on our last night - Friday. We end our trip with a nice relaxed dinner and recap the week. For us, it's a great way to end the week. I know a lot of people don't like to miss the last night with their servers 'cause that's when they usually give them their tips, but we give it to them the next morning at breakfast (I realize this is not an option for the late risers... yes Tink - I'm talking about you! ;) ) but it works for us.

Never have done tea... would rather do wine tasting... :goodvibes

Is this something that you should..maybe run past your tablemates first, to make sure it is okay if you miss dinning with THEM on your last night????:confused3
Just a thought LOL!!!!

Johnna is right about the group Palo Brunch..it really was a highlight of the week..If I remember right, we did it on our 2nd day, which I thought worked out great..it was fun doing it towards the beginning of the trip, that way we can visit and get to know each other a bit better, which made it more fun when running into familiar faces during the week...:)

Last March was fun also, as we had brunch with Mr & Mrs Tinker(somehow the name "Tinker" doesn't seem to fit Chris LOL!!!) as well as another couple....remember Tink...we saw dolphins during brunch that morning!!!!!!

As far as Palo's go, we have only done the brunches, which we REALLY enjoy:thumbsup2 !!!
We never have done the dinner meal, and probably won't again this time...The girls are still at the age were they like to eat with us..and at ages 11 and soon to be 15...we have to take advantage of that while we still can LOL!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Beside Palo's Brunch, my favorite place to eat is at Goofy's Galley up at the pool....they have a sandwich there that I think I had everyday for lunch last March...(and would love to be eating one now LOL!!!!) it was a Turkey Chutney YUM !!!!!!! they also have fresh fruits and wonderful salads everyday for lunch....it really is good.

Oooh... all this talk is making me even MORE excited to go!!!!
Can't Wait!!!!

Hope everyone is having a GREAT Wednesday!!!!

P.S. If the Tink family upgrades to the Walt suite....we all know where the party is going to be LOL!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Tinker aka "The Hostess with the Mostess"!!!!!..."well yes, Thank-you, I think I will have another Bushwacker!!! LOL

I'm so excited about this cruise!!
We're already half way through September!:yay:

Then all this talk about Palo brunch and high tea, Goofy's Galley sandwiches (which sound awesome :thumbsup2 ) wine tasting and Bushwackers has me hungry and thirsty and wishing the cruise was already here!!
And I want one of those Mickey ice cream bars too! :mickeybar

Oh and crab, and shrimp and chocolate cake and brownies and....

I think I just want to eat EVERYTHING.

I could go for a Mickey Bar right now too, I could go for about 5 actually I love them:yay:.

Only got to wait till Febuary 21st, 2009 though, gotta love booking a back-to-back cruise:goodvibes

Oh- I think we're going to get along just fine. :rotfl:

:yay: Yes we will!
I can't help it. I LOVE FOOD!

I was just looking at the pictures of the food at the Palo brunch and it looks sooooo good.
I want the smoked salmon, bacon wrapped scallops, shrimp cocktails, all the breads and pastries, pizzas, Alaskan King crab and Stone crap claws, the tilapia plate looks good too, then wash it down with a champagne cocktail.....or two.

Then after that I'll attack the dessert table!!

WOOOOO! :woohoo:
Sounds like a plan to me!

LUCKY!!!
My hubby told me he wants to do a back to back cruise after this one.
Hearing that made me want to do cartwheels!

The rotation that you guys are talking about is second seating of whatever rotation you have. It was our rotation last cruise. I do not think I will ask for it again. Does not bother me where we are on what night. I requested it before because of my birthday. Just told them I NEEDED to be in Luminers on my birthday. They did make it happen. This cruise I think closer to the cruise, I am going to request my HS if he is still around. If he is, I will just follow that rotation. Last cruise we did Palo for dinner on my birthday and guess what, got Sea sick  and never got a chance to eat my dinner.:sad2: In 4 cruises, never sick and this time and on my birthday. It was what I get for making fun of the others. Good thing they are in dry dock to fix the engine and can keep out the stabilizers.;)

Yes BJ, Brunch was wonderful last cruise. The dolphins were the added unforgetable treat.... Sooo special. We have to do it again. Lady Story, if you want to do the group brunch that is good for us as well. That would be the day before my b-day and on AL''s birthday if I remember correctly. The only problem is the limited number of people we can have there. If you need to get someone else in, we can opt out and just aim for a different day too. I do not know who else is interested....

So are you guys keeping a secret from the "not so tiny" Tink family......:lmao: :lmao: BJ are you linked with the Storys and did not tell us???? How dare you guys..... I'll keep our reservation to ourselves....:snooty: No, the truth is, I know you guys do first dinner and we just can not. We like second because we run late too much as you know. We would not show up for dinner until 7:30 PM if we had 1st. Some type of way I do not think that would fly with the staff or our tablemates. Now you have to give it to me though.... Last cruise we did make it up for customs without our names being called over the PA. Now yes we were late, but we did make it.... I need to stick to the Western sailings....:lmao:

Who else has 2nd dinner? I have not looked at the e-mail in that great of detail. I did see that someone here is from Heartland.... My college roommate is from there and her family still lives there. Small world.....

For all of you who do not yet know me well, Johnna is right, the Tink family is late for EVERYTHING..... Even overslept one cruise on disembarkment morning....:scared1: So she just knows me well.... BTW, for those that do not know, they knock on your door if you are not out by 8AM...

Wanda- send me that information via PM. I want to work on that. We can talk about the other part later. No big deal... We know where to find each other....

Yes, I have a feeling we will be upgraded to the Roy Disney Suite. Since Johnna talked me into this GTY.:lmao: So party in the Tink room..... Drinks on Donna though....:lmao:

I will talk with ya tomorrow. After that I am on call at the hospital for the entire weekend. Keep telling myself DEAD GUYS ON PAPER..... Since they are not laying on the lawn of Jonna's house like I thought...:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

THE ROY DISNEY SUITE???!! NIIIIIIIICE!!
Can I come over?
Just kidding!

btw I have second dinner seating also!

I have first dinner seating. I thought that if there is a desserts buffet, etc etc and I have late seating I'd never be able to fit any of the sweets after a big meal :rotfl2:

I am having my birthday while on board as well, so that's very exciting!!
I didn't even realize it until after DH had booked it and pointed it out :rotfl: that's me, forgetting my own b-day.

Oooh dolphins during Palo brunch, that sounds magical!
How am I ever gonna make it to February without loosing my mind? :rotfl2:

Good point Brenda - we'll have that discussion with you about last night Dinner at Palo or not. I'm sure we'll want to spend more time with you guys - or maybe not by the end of 7 days together... JUST KIDDING!! :lmao:

Tink - no secret. As you said - just know you too well. I guess there is "standard" time and then there is "Tink Family" time. No problem - just don't miss the boat!!!!!

Going to FLA this weekend with the girls - annual "Moms Gone Wild 2" weekend. A group of 6 of us will escape to a friend's house with no kids, no husbands, lots of wine and lots of chit-chat. Oh - and shopping. Cannot wait. Hope for good weather for us. We'll be in Jacksonville - thank you God for no hurricanes this weekend. :yay:

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Check in with you next week!

Ciao for now, Johnna :woohoo:

LOL, I hear ya on that, Tink! We have the same problem, seems we can't be on time for anything, hard as we try. :confused3

Which is one reason we have late seating. The other is that we normally eat supper late anyway, sometimes as late as 7:30, so it will be nothing new for our kids.

as of right now we have early seating for dinner on this cruise. The week before this we have late seating.

Oh, guys, I'm in  :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Found someone like us and the kids are the same age as our kids..... I knew if I keep trying someone else can go to Early Morning Customs with us..... We promise to get everyone off the ship by 10AM that morning.... See they are even from Canada. Minnesota - Canada what's the difference..... Hey Rookie, Bushwacker for you on me.... ;)

Donna, someone told me the NEW members of the BUSHWACKER club has to pick up the tab for the first 3 days.....

Boy, I can see I'm going to have to really keep an eye :3dglasses on you guys. Miss checking in here :surfweb: for a couple of days and all kinds of rumors get started...maybe I better start looking for some more new BUSHWACKER club members...anyone else want to join??????

Brunch at Palo sounds good! On our two previous DCL cruises, we never booked Palo so we are ready to give it a try.

We also have the late dinner seating. On our last cruise we had the last time (8:30 p.m.) of the late dinner seating and it was almost too late. I need to check on what rotation starts at 8:00 so I can request it. :confused3 Anyone know?

Johnna, have fun with the "moms gone wild" weekend in florida! party: Don't do anything the rest of us wouldn't do...just kidding! Have a wild and  time!

I wish they would put the St. Croix excursions on their website too!

Donna

Donna- You better recruit Vanessa...... Then the tab can be on her....:lmao: I tell you my fellow cruise buddies will have a big thud at your door on the final night because the bill will be too large to slide under the door.:rotfl2: .

The rotation that is first is the one that starts with AP, L, PC. We have done all three and the last one for some reason does seem even later than the 8:15one for some reason...:confused3 so I totally agree.

Lady Story, again have fun on your trip. We will wait for the video when you return. I get soooo jealous of you being able to do this each year. Next year it is on my list to do for sure.....:thumbsup2 Have fun for me too......

We do not do a lot of excursions, so we do not keep up with what they are. When they are posted, let us know thought because I will still look threough them. Maybe something will catch my fancy...

Keep us posted with Palo and let us know what everyone is thinking. The only problem is that that room is sooooo small. How many does it hold; 10 right?:confused3
