February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

Just saw this over on the main boards, so some of you might have seen it already as well...but for those of you who haven't ......

Here is the drydock upgrades coming to the Magic
Hi all, I haven't seen this posted but I saw this press release and wanted to send it along. The Magic is getting some nice upgrades:
CELEBRATION, Fla. – An exciting collection of enhancements awaits the Disney Magic as the ship heads into dry dock Sept. 6-24, 2008. The 2,700 passenger cruise ship will undergo a series of upgrades for guests of all ages.

Here is a glimpse at what’s in store:

Indulgence and Relaxation
Quiet Cove, the serene pool retreat reserved for the enjoyment of adults, will undergo a makeover including upgrades to Cove Café, the pool and the deck area. Cove Café, the ship’s sophisticated coffee lounge, will incorporate a new seating area with plush, comfortable chairs providing the perfect venue to relax while sipping a cup of gourmet coffee. Meanwhile, the adult pool will be outfitted with soothing, cascading waterfalls from the two hot tubs. Teak deck and lounge chairs with plush cushions will line the pool, creating an inviting, stylish ambiance in line with the Vista Spa and Salon.

Fun for the Little Ones
The Oceaneer Club, a Neverland-themed play space for 3-7 year olds, and the Oceaneer Lab, a whacky and interactive laboratory exclusively for 8-12 year olds, will be enhanced with new registration areas that make the check-in process more efficient and hassle-free. This sets the stage for incorporating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in the youth activity areas later this year, which will further enhance and streamline the check-in process. The technology uses RFID tags embedded on wristbands, allowing children to simply tap a sensor to check in and out of the clubs.
Even the youngest cruisers will have a splashtacular time in “Mickey’s Splash Zone,” a new toddler water playground inspired by Fantasia’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice. This 385-square-foot extension to the Mickey Pool on deck 9 will feature star- and moon-shaped interactive fountains, a soft play surface and whimsical splash zones; creating an inviting environment for children not yet toilet trained and in swim diapers.

New Conveniences
The guest staterooms onboard the Disney Magic are receiving an infusion of technology with the installation of flat-screen LCD television sets. The new 22-inch units will be mounted on a swivel arm to allow easy viewing from multiple locations within the stateroom.

I also have seen reports where they are replacing the carpet in the staterooms...(which I feel REALLY needed it!!!)

Thanks for the warm welcome!!!
Oh I am so excited, I am going to Joann's this weekend to get some cloth to make my own fish extender :rotfl2:

I have to keep myself busy somehow.:lmao:

We didn't do the Fish Extender thing last trip. Don't know exactly the whole thing.... are you supposed to exchange gifts? Is that what it's for?

Hope everyone has a great weekend. We're supposed to get hit by Hannah (the tropical storm, not hurricane) but I'm really not concerned. Too much going on this weekend for a little tropical storm to get in my way.

The power of a busy mom! :woohoo:

we did the FE thing on my cruise in July on the make, they way it works is we got a list of the cabin numbers, then on differnet days, like whatever days we picked we would deliver the gifts. We all got some cool things, some people brought what they could only find in their state or country and some people brought candy or pens. Really a lot of fun

Okay some of you know from the last cruise what I am going to say about the FE thing.....    Our family will scratch this idea. I am already stressing how I am going to get all of our stuff down to 4 luggages.:scared1: Last year we did not do it but did something simple for the kids and it still was a lot of work. I volunteered to deliver the items and did not realize how much work it was with 6 floors and two sides. Also, the stuff we get in the FE is cute, but not worth the space it takes up in the luggage on the way home. I know people say do things like candy, things you eat, but my family does not eat candy and food is tricky for us. Also, we are eatting so much on the ship, we could not imagine anything else. We still have our choc. they place on the pillows every night from the past two cruises. I guess it does not taste good by now... :upsidedow I just brought it home because it had Cindy's house on the front. Just my opinion...... Do you guys really want to do it????:headache: And I am not being a "Stinky Tinky" BJ....:lmao: :lmao:

Welcome ChocoKat...... Happy to get to know you over the next few months. Thanks for joining in. Do not believe anything my "Friends" say about me....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm not going to do it, last time it was fun, but too much stuff that I threw away like food, well beside the baked bean candy, I can never find them and they are good :lmao:, I loved meeting everyone though so when we were on the ship we saw people we knew all over

LOL
I'll have to work on the magnets for our door then
I have been thinking about it, but I still haven't come up with anything I really would like to do with them.

And candy on top of all the food on board? I think I'd just have to rolled off the ship :rotfl:

The sports junkies finally stop talking sports, and still everyone else disappears! Hope everyone is doing well.

I know a couple of you sent me updates for the list; I'll try to work on that this week.

Brenda - are you recovered from the flu yet?

Tink - how's the patient????

Happy Monday!!

Can you please tell Mark for me: Thanks for Manny. Over the weekend we moved into first place with 20 games to go. Also to all the Yank fans out there I have a question for you. What does a 200 million+ payroll get you get? I no one answer is you don't get to see your team in the Playoffs.

so, anyony hear about Tom Brady, I heard he is out for the season, does anyone know if that is true?

GO GIANTS!:goodvibes

I can't wait for basketball to start again. Nets are gonna suck, but hey what are you going to do, As long as either Lakers, Suns, or Hornets do good I'll be happy:cool1:

But, I'll start posting more again been busy with work and stuff

Hi Johnna and everyone!

DD and I spent the weekend in Colorado. We flew out of KC on Friday evening after DD got out of school. Saturday, she was a bridesmaid in one of her colllege roommate's wedding. Her friend got married at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It was a beautiful warm & sunny afternoon in a gorgeous setting. On Sunday, we spent some time wandering around downtown Denver--saw the state capital with its gold plated dome, Larimer Square with its historic buildings, strolled and shopped along the 16th Street Mall and Denver Pavillions, and ate lunch at a sidewalk cafe which was once the lobby of the old Paramount Theatre in Denver. Got back home about 9:30 last night. Thank goodness that is the last wedding we have until mid-October!!!

We had such fun though with a girls only weekend (another of DD's college roommates went with us) that we've decided to plan a girls only trip next summer. DD has always wanted to go to New York and, I must admit, I would like to go at least once too. DH absolutely refuses to go though! I've already asked my BFF and she is all for it. DDIL wants to go too so we could have 6 or more "gals" going. So if anyone has been to NYC and has any suggestions on things to do, places to stay, restaurants to eat at, please let me know. You can PM me, if you want, so we don't hijack this thread. I would be ever so grateful as I really don't know where to start in planning a trip to NYC. :confused3

Back to our cruise planning....when do you think they will have the St. Croix excursions online???????

On another note, DS and DDIL got back Friday from their honeymoon cruise on RCL Majesty of the Seas. They had a good time and Hurricane Hanna didn't bother them too much other than they didn't get to stop at CocoCay, RCL's private island. They did get to spend an extra evening in Key West, FL which they enjoyed. They've said their next cruise will be either a DCL cruise :rotfl: or an Alaskan cruise. I told them they might get both of their wishes in the next 2 or 3 years if the disboard rumors prove true. :dance3:

YUP! Brady is out for the season from a knee injury.
I cheered for the Giants during the Super Bowl!

Brenda - are you recovered from the flu yet?

We are getting WAY TOO OLD for the flu!!!!!!!!
It seriously kicked our BUTTS!!!!! It has been a week since Ron came down with it, and he is still suffering. Ron had it so bad, he ended up in the hospital. Today was the first day I have felt like I could actually function......but not very speedy LOL!!!!

Tinker..... we NEEDED you:sick:

Donna...glad to hear that you had a nice time in Denver. We live about 180 miles away from there...that is usually where we go to shop (over a few days at a time, not just for the day). Denver is also our closest airport....that is where we fly out of, which kinda stinks, because after we land back in Denver, we still have the drive home....driving over isn't so bad, because we are always excited to go!!!BUT..... the drive home.. UGH!!!!!

Alan.....:thumbsup2 on the Bushwacker's on Paradise Point(St Marteen)!!!!! That was where we got hooked on them!!!!! If any of you haven't been up there...the views are unbelievably breathe taking!!!!!! It really is pretty looking down over the Island, as well as a getting a great view of the "Disney Magic"(and it is a easy walk from the ship).
They have the "Bungee Trampolines" up there as well, that DD 11 loved...she wants to do it again.

For those of you who have been to St Marteen...what was your favorite thing to do????? We haven't been very adventurous when we were there before, the only thing that we have done was the Paradise Point (on our own) and shopping down town....Johnna, if I remember right you guys went to a beach didn't you?????

Hope all is well with everyone!!!!!
Brenda:)

Donna - I'll hijack this thread to talk a little bit about NYC. I totally think you should go with the girls! That is one destination that is on my "Girls Weekend" list. We started our girls weekend - called "Moms Gone Wild" last year at a beach house in Delaware. This year we're going to one of the girls' house in Jacksonville, FL (most of us are here in MD) and perhaps next year will be the year we go to Plano to the other out-of-MD-mom! But NYC is high on the list of destinations. I LOVE it there. I grew up in NJ and used to go to NYC a lot, but not so much anymore. So I don't have any tips for you, but I'm sure whatever you do, it will be awesome. And I would totally disagree with your DH about not going - it's someplace you should go at least once in your life. But perhaps I'm a little biased?

Brenda - what is up?!?!   ????? Poor Ron (and poor you too) but the hospital?!? When that boy gets sick, he just goes all out, huh?? Only 100% for dear Ron.

Ciao for now... Johnna:yay:

I cheer for the Giants every season all my life I can remember so I cheered for them during the Super Bowl:lmao:

My family in NYC are HUGE Giants fans! My cousin just recently met the whole team and Plaxico signed her jersey.
I'm actually grew up a Dallas fan cause of my dad. He was in the Navy and all his buddies were from Texas. My hubby grew up a Dallas fan too and his cousin is the QB.
It's cool having a jersey with you're name on it! :woohoo:
But since we didn't quite make it to the Super Bowl last season , I was cheering for the Giants! (even though they were the ones that beat us) It's ok though! To me, it's all in good fun! I love football!

By the way, what's a Fish Extender?

I love football too, but I have to say I LOVE Basketball more. Can't wait for this cruise, because when it happens Basketball games will be on by then and I won't be as bored, not that I will watch basketball on the ship. I'll be in Rockin' Bar D, but leading up to the cruise, it helps past time:goodvibes :cool1:
