February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

What's wrong with the Storys?!?! :confused3 We didn't even realize that today was the booking date. We've got to get on top of that. :scared1:

I had to remember. I really wanted brunch on my birthday and my wife really wanted a tea. I am so happy I was able to book both for the days I wanted.

Here are my cruise plans:

Day 2 - At Sea - Palo Dinner 8:30
Day 3 - At Sea - Palo High Tea 3:00
Day 4 - St. Croix - St. Croix Sail, Snorkel and Beach Adventure 8:45-12:30
Day 5 - St. Thomas/St. John - Captain Nautica's Snorkeling Expedition 8:00-12:10
Day 6 - At Sea - Palo Brunch 10:30
Day 7 - Castaway Cay - Personal Watercraft Eco Tour - Double 2:00-3:00

I'm uncertain about my excursions on St Croix and St Thomas. I hope these are good ones. We did the Eco tour last time and DH & DS loved it. I'm going to wait on the beach and take pictures this time around.

I am posting this with my iPhone. Can you tell me the secret to making the DCL web site work right. It never seems to load right. Not to make fun, but if you have a iPhone (so 21st century) why dial up? (so 20th century). Just wondering. I mean no offence.

No offense taken but to explain...we live in rural Central Missouri and, unfortunately, our only internet options are dial-up or satellite. For the basic satellite internet service, it would cost us $300 for the equipment and $60 per month with a two year commitment. For the quality of service with satellite, we don't feel that it is worth the price. We have only one telephone service carrier, Embarq, and they have DSL in our small town as well as 4 miles outside of town. We live 5 miles from town. According to a friend of ours who works for Embarq, they have equipment that would extend DSL and would only cost about $150 to do so but they won't even give us the option to purchase the equipment and pay them a monthly fee for service. :confused3

So last month when my old cell phone gave out, I got an iPhone. Of course, I can only get Edge or 2G here at home. It is still slow but can be faster than my home computer. I love techno gadgets and am really enjoying my iPhone.

Thanks to REAS I could make my reservations well in advance, but yesterday morning I had second thoughts about the placement of Palo brunch and dinner, so I moved them around and now we have Palo brunch in the first day at sea, palo diner in the 5th day (I believe), bicycle rentals for castaway key and an excursion for St Thomas.

I am so pumped! :cool1:

I had Palo brunch on the first sea day but was going so quickly I didn't click to also set up daycare with it. Then when I went back to get daycare for the same time it wasn't available. So we switched brunch to I believe Thursday. I then went back and got a dinner as well on Monday night. I'm excited to get both. We have never done brunch before. I'm not sure if we will keep dinner, if its the night of our AP show will skip Palo. We will probably wait to book excursions until the day of depending on what we feel like doing. When cruising with a 1 year old your options are limited to the mostly boring excursions that don't fill up. :lmao: We'll probably just pick a beach.

Well that make perfect sence to me. I was just wondering. Thanks for that answer but I am still wondering how did you get the DCL site to work on the phone. When I pull it up it never loads right.

I didn't do anything different than I do when I sign on to DCL's website from my home computer so I don't know what to tell you. It does take a while to load but I'm used to waiting. :)

We got Palo brunch for the 1st day at sea. We signed up for the West End Highlights Tour on St. Croix but may change that. On St. Thomas we are going to do the Water Island Mountain Bike Adventure.

Maybe I just need to wait longer. I will try again one day.

I personally do not think that I will be doing any exursions with DCL. In St. Croix, my friends and I just plan to get a cab and tour the Cruzan rum factory. I am not planing on getting off the ship again till we get backto PC. Well maybe at CC fir some BBQ lunch a d a Knok Cooler. That is a maybe. I just may stay on and have lunch on the ship. I just love the empty ship.

:sad1: You guys are bumming me out here. I am a DCL rookie so I can't book anything until the 12th of December. I'm hoping to get a Palo dinner for 8 as well as a brunch for 8 at some point (I'm thinking dinner on semi-formal night), as well as book a few excursions and register the kids for the clubs.

11 days...

Don't be too bummed...I still haven't book anything as of yet! I just e-mailed our TA to see about getting our trip paid off , we have only paid the down payment. And beings how you can't make any ressies until paid in full...I guess I will need to get that taken care of today.

WE just got back last night from our week long stay in Des Moines IA ...We had such a great time! We always look forward spending Thanksgiving there (with family)this year made the 11th year in a row of going.

We do nothing but eat shop and play cards...(and if you are Ron, you throw in watching FOOTBALL):happytv:
Our car would have given Santa's Sleigh a run for his money!!! :car:
Our Aunt and Uncle always say that I am good for the Iowa economy LOL!!!!!
Sales are definitely up the week that we are there ;)

Hope everyone had a Great Thanksgiving!!! Hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner...after Christmas we will be strictly in CRUISE MODE!!!!!

This week I will be busy putting the finishing touches on the Christmas decorations as I have a Christmas party here a week from tonight! and with that being said...you all know what Ron will be doing this week as well LOL:lmao: :lmao: He can't wait!!!!!

Okay, I just wanted to check in with everyone and say HI!!!!! Hope everyone has a great week!

Brenda:)

Don't be too bummed. As a first timer I'm not sure I would even try for Palo dinner. I wouldn't want to miss the dinners in the dining rooms. Also semi formal night is my favorite meal (lobster) so I'd pick a different night to miss.

I would really like to experience Palo. We are travelling with my brother and two sisters and their families, so a nice Palo dinner for the 8 adults would be a nice bonus. Perhaps I will try for Wednesday night, and maybe Sunday brunch.

Things should be paid off soon, if they aren't now. Just waiting for confirmation from our TA on the Canadian discount for the last 2 staterooms, and she also sent me the DCL flight itinerary, and I decided to book my own flights, so once she takes that off the reservation, I think I'm good to go.

Now to decide on excursions...

Hey all:

I've lurked a little here but am finally popping in to say "hi" because we finished paying for this cruise today.

My husband, 3yo son, and I are cruise rookies and I have to admit I have had reservations with trying a cruise. My husband, though, has always wanted to go on one but he's always let me choose. I figure it's his turn.

I did get to pick the itenerary, though - I love St. John in the Virgin Islands (we've vacationed there 3 times in the last 7 years) so I chose St. Thomas / St. Croix. I've seen some of St. Thomas but have never seen St. Croix so I'm going to be scoping it out for potential future vacations.

I'm still trying to pick between staying on St. Thomas or taking a ferry over to St. John but I'm thinking we'll play it by ear and we'll see how we feel when we pull into port.

Anyway, hi again, and I'll be popping in from time to time to ask questions. :surfweb:

See you all on board,

-Sandy :)

Weptome to all the new people. I hope your first trip with DCL will be a great one.

Wow Brenda! Sounds like you had a great time over Thanksgiving! I can't believe it but I didn't do any shopping until Sunday afternoon when DD left to take her boyfriend back to the airport.

Rookie Mouse, Here's some pixiedust: that you are able to get a reservation at Palo. When I checked back yesterday there were still lots of dinner reservations open except for Thursday evening. All the brunches were gone but that could change and they also keep some back for booking onboard.

Sandy and Family, :welcome:

We really did have a great time!!!! And the shopping was an added bonus...I did some major POWER shopping...we hit the ground running LOL!!!!!

I missed out on all the Palo Brunches... darn it!!!!!! was TOO late! but if I remember right, the same thing happened to me last year. I just kept checking and finally was able to get reservations, so hopefully that will happen again this year! I really am not to worried about it...

So the only thing that I have made any reservations for is a couple massage on Thurs. we did this last year and LOVED it!!!!

I want to :welcome: Beesmom and family!!!! You are now an official member of "The Bushwackers Bandito's" :cool1: :cool1:
