February 26, 2005, Magic Western

In favor of late sitting, we had late sitting on our last 2 cruises and we loved it, we do tend to eat late anyway, but on vacation we even go later, the girls enjoyed seeing the shows early, and if they were tired we fed them earlier, then they went to the club.
I am really starting to count the days......

littleb's mom - we have never had little ones in a 'Navigator veranda', just the standard. They could see thru the glass and with LOTS of adult supervision they didn't seem interested in climbing. Sue

Happy October! I enjoy the fall weather and changing leaves. May be in the mid 40s Sun nite. Going for a bike ride in the am and then watch football. See ya soon!

Good morning people! I forgot to post the email I got from Cap'n Marvin's in September:

To all of you who have written with questions about how we are doing after
> Hurricane Ivan, here is a brief update. Thank you for your prayers and
> concern; they have meant a lot to us during the past several days.
>
> The island has been ravaged by the hurricane. Most people have sustained
> damage to their homes and businesses. The trees are mostly gone; what are
> left standing have few or no leaves/fronds left on them. There are
> literally tons and tons of debris that need to be cleared, but this
> massive task is underway and there is a great improvement already.
>
> Capt. Marvin's Watersports lost two of our three locations, but the one in
> town at the Waterfront Centre is intact and although we have sustained
> some water damage, everything else seems to be fine here. We lost one of
> our boats but hope to bring that back up and get it going again. All of
> our crew, staff and owners and their families are well, which is the
> biggest blessing of all. We are thankful for life.
>
> Grand Cayman has never in recorded history been hit directly by a
> hurricane, much less a category 5 hurricane such as Ivan was, with
> sustained winds of over 165 mph, and gusts up to 208 mph recorded at the
> airport.
>
> Flights with returning residents and emergency/humanitarian supplies are
> arriving daily. One cruise ship arrived today with no tourists, but with
> humanitarian supplies, for which we are very grateful. We plan to be up
> and going whenever the first tourist arrives here, by land or by sea. We
> are actually capable of running at almost full capacity already, so we
> will be ready as soon as the first tourists arrive again.
>
By the way, the Turtle Farm survived the storm in great shape!

> Thank you again for all of your prayers and concern. I apologize for the
> global email, but just don't have time to write to everyone individually
> right now. There were almost 500 emails waiting for me when I booted up
> the computer for the first time today!
>
> Gratefully yours,
> Ruth and the staff and crew from Capt. Marvin's

kshabare....Thank you for posting that e-mail. I feel so horrible for everyone on that island. I can't even imagine what it would have been like to go through that...how completely terrifying it must have been! I'm glad to read that everyone in the Captain Marvin's family is safe. I think I posted before that my hubby & I will definitely be doing an excursion & some shopping on Grand Cayman now just to help the businesses out.

DH & I were/are debating booking a cruise for Oct 06. This is one of the "special" cruises that will skip Key West & Grand Cayman & go to Castaway Cay twice. The only thing holding us back is that DCL must have bumped up the $ needed for booking because when I booked the Feb 05 cruise the deposit required was $500 (I think---I put $800.00 down). The depost required now is $1,000.00. I think we'll be waiting to book that cruise until after Christmas, probably book while on board in Feb.

I am not sure what is going on with the deposits, I put a deposit on Feb 2006, and the deposit was the same as last year, $1,000.
I booked through DU, I am not sure if that makes a difference.

 I can't find my paper work for the Feb 26 cruise. I was going to verify the deposit $. Now I will relax and look again tomorrow. We booked while on Magic in January '04.

Found our orinival deposit paperwork. The deposit required was $500.00 for 02/26/05 cruise. The only thing that I can think of is that I did not have to put a deposit down for kids for 02/26/05 cruise. My princess: will be 5 at time of cruise & pirate: will have just turned 2. The cruise that I requested a quote on was Oct 2006 special western itinerary & kids will be 6 & 3. I requeste quote through DU.

On a side note....we paid off remaining balance on 02/26/05 cruise the other day. What a good feeling! :thewave:

YEA, we have paid off our cruise :Pinkbounc
only 133 days to go, soon we can start booking excursions. It is getting grey and cold here, the idea of the cruise is really the light at the end of the tunnel......

We are now at 120 days to the cruise, it will be here before we know it, especially with all of the holidays in between.
We should start talking excursions.
It now looks like grand Cayman will happen. My husband will go scuba diving in both Cozumel and Grand Cayman, the girls (7 & 9) and I want to go to Sting Ray City, are we all ready to start booking, I guess now we can book at 90 days out if paid in full.
That is only 30 days away.:Pinkbounc

Just paid off our balance for the cruise. Oh what a feeling!! I am trying to keep some of our summer clothes out of storage as I do the switch from summer to winter clothes. Can anyone give me an idea of the type of weather to expect and the temperatures during our cruise times? Thanks!

We went last year at the same time, and the weather was beautiful, we wore summer clothes the entire time, just bring some jackets for the evening it can get cool. My kids just stayed in their bathing suits most of the time....

I was on Magic the end of Jan '04 and wore shorts and tees every day. The only time I was cold was attempting to swim on CC.

Kim, should we start talking Captain Marvin, if I remember correctly you were thinking about booking around October/November, so who do we have so far????
If we do not Captain Marvin, I might just book the excursion that inncludes the turtle farm (if it is still there) my 7 year old really wants to see it......
Decision, decision.....

Christine,

I'll probably book before the end of the month. We booked the early one last time we went. I'll let you know when I book it. The turtle farm could be interesting but I think we'll just snorkel with Captain. We had so much fun.

Kim

Just wanted to take a moment and say Hi to everyone. We will also be cruising with you on 2/26/05. This will be our 6th Disney Cruise and our third on the western route. I have a DS age 13 and a DD age 12. DD is very outgoing and would love to email any other kids her age going on the cruise. DS is shy but loves sports and video games. Our email is dsny88@aol.com.

Welcome aboard, and do you all know what today is?
We are 100 days to the cruise :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
My DDs are 7 and to be 10 in April, so a little bit young for your DD.

I hope that you all had a great thanksgiving.
Did anyone but me make excursion reservations, on Sunday we were at 90 days, which meant that we could make reservations, if we were paid in full.
I got my husband the scuba diving in both Grand Cayman and Cozumel, and the girls and I will do the Island tour and swimming with sting rays in Grand Cayman...

Christine,

Where did you book? Captain Marvin's? I have to still pay the cruise off so we're going to wait. My mom and brothers just pulled out so it'll just be Norman, Joshua and I. I'll miss them but we've only taken a vacation without family once before, in 2000. It'll be a nice vacation and since it's after the holiday I won't feel guilty leaving them home. We plan on booking for the mid-morning excursion.

Can you believe the count is under 90? I remember us posting that it was under 200! Hoping we'll be able to meet. We'll have to bring those magnetic memo boards so we can leave each other messages to arrange a meet!
