February 26, 2005, Magic Western

We are staying at the Radisson at the port before the cruise, is anyone staying there, we are actually arriving on the 24 and planning to the Kennedu Space Center on the 25.
Brenda, which excursions did you book, we booked the 7:20 that includes the turtle farm, Hell, and stingray city....
The color of the disboard is lime green, and that how we can recognize each other, I will go today and try to find some lime grenn rubbons, to attach to my bags and myself, it seems that we will all be at the terminal early, it would be fun to all start talking at that time.

In Key West, we are doing the sightseeing tour. In Grand Cayman, we booked Stingray City at 7:30 through DCL, but do not have anything else after that...big mistake, maybe??? I like the turtle farm idea...maybe we'll add that. In Cozumel, we have chartered a small 5-seater Cessna to go to Chichen Itza to see the 75-foot pyramid and ruins. The flight is about one hour and we'll spend the afternoon visiting the ruins then fly back to Cozumel before dinner. We did this on our own as DCL only offered local ruins.

I like the lime green idea. I'll look for some lime green scarves to attach to our bags and something to put on the kids hats.

Is Palo a must-do? We enjoy dining with our kids and since they tend to like adult fare as much as we do, I wasn't really planning any kid-free dinners.

I really liked the tip about having the kids wear bathing suits under their clothes for embarkation - we'll head straight to the kids' pool and avoid the stress of just waiting around for our stateroom.

Cheers!

Palo is certainly a very nice restaurant, the brunch is great, we are planning on doing both brunch and dinner, but I am not sure I would call it a must do, I know that the kids actually enjoy a night without us...
I did find some ribbon, not exactly lime green but close enough.
See you all soon....

Do you reserve Palo before or after you actually board the ship?

Can it be done by telephone now, like the excursions? I'm guessing not because that would be too convenient.

Less than six weeks to go...

Hey guys! If you go to Home Depot they have lime green mickey heads instead of paint chips. You can laminate them and tie them onto your luggage/carry-ons. I grabbed three of them a while back for that purpose. Now I have to find them!!!

Kim

You are right KIm, that is a great idea.

Now we can all be on the lookout for documents, last year I received mine 30 days out, we are really getting close to that date......

Hi All! We just booked the 2/26 cruise this week, and can't WAIT to go! :boat: My husband and I are going, along with our two year old princess: and my mom and dad. This will be my 3rd DCL, and my husband's 2nd. We are really excited to see it through our little girl's eyes. She loves anything and everything Disney! The people in our two cabins will be Sarah (myself- 29), Frank (30), Madison (2), George (58) and Wanda (56). We hope to meet some of you there!

Welcome Sarah and family.

We're Brenda (myself, 38), Marcel (41), Nicholas (9) and Joshua (7) from Montreal, Canada. It was -24°C (that's -11°F) here today. With the wind chill factor, it was a whopping -33°C (-27.4°F). When the weather is that cold, it may as well be -2000 degrees 'cause you're too frozen to feel it anyway. Even the cat refuses to go outside!

Welcome aboard. We're not big Disney fans, but we're looking forward to seeing the kids' faces when they realize that what they thought was a big ski trip out West is really some time in the sun.

Cheers from Montreal,

The Lafleur family

Hi all,
We just got our cruise book for 2/26, and we cannot wait! It will be myself, Shelia (35), My husband, Chuck (36), Christopher (15) and Kelly (2 on feb 27th). It will be great to get out of this cold for awhile. This will be our first cruise.

It's hard to believe our cruise is only a month away now. My 5 year old DD asks every day when we leave for the cruise, so that makes it even more difficult to wait. Looking for our documents to arrive soon. Wondering if I should follow up with cruise.com to make sure the paperwork will be arriving soon. Anyone else have any experiences with cruise.com?

Leaving VA on the 25th and staying at the Courtyard Cocoa Beach the night before. Anyone else staying here? Would love to meet with everyone. I've seen several posts with others that have children my DD's age, so I am sure they will become fast friends at the Mickey Pool!

It has been so cold up here, and we had a blizzard this week-end, too cold to even go skiing.....
We are all so ready for the cruise, I would expect to see the documents soon, most people receive them from 15 to 30 days before the cruise. We are leaving on the 23 and taking the auto train from Washington arriving on the morning of the 24 and staying at the Radisson for 2 days....
I am hoping for nice weather there...
Welcome to all of the new people to the thread we should all have a great time on board...

Christine and everyone else!

I have a very informal list going on MSWord, on my PC. I didn't think there would be this many DISers on this cruise. It would be great to run into one another, don't you think. I'd like for my son Josh to buddy up with the boys for the club so that he'll have some 'friends' going in.

I think maybe I'll put kshabare on my lime green Mickey head so people can recognize our family board name.

We were snowed in Sunday and I made a chain for the remaining days. Each day has something cruise-like on it in marker. Yesterday was Mickey Bars! Each day we rip one off and display it somewhere in the house just to psych ourselves up. I'm just so ready. More snow coming in tonite :(

...going to dream of Mickey and the gang, Mickey Bars, warm sand and no coats!

Kim

Kim, in the "it is a small world" type of comments, I was looking at your web page that you had posted on another thread on the DIS, and I realized that Tyler who became a friend of your son on your last cruise, was the tyler that we had dinner with on our cruise last year, 12 of us shared a table we had all met throught the DIS, and we also exchanged pictures, the picture that Tyler' s mom posted was the picture of your son and Tyler at Castaway Cay....... Now I feel like singing we are all a big family...
I will hopefully be one of the first one in line to get on the ship.....
I will have green ribbons on my luggage and on my wrist, will put it in my daughter's piggy tail....

One month to go. Let the pre-packing begin...

I read on the DIS recently how OTD shoe organizers can help keep your toiletries from taking control of the limited bathroom space onboard.

Well, I just came back from a nearby Dollarama store and you can get them for a dollar. At $1, I'll get two: one to keep us from tripping over shoes all week and another for the bathroom. When it's time to leave, I won't lose any sleep over throwing my $2 in the trash!

What a great idea. Thanks to all who suggested it.

Brenda

Hello all. Have been enjoying reading the posts in anticipation of our second DCL cruise. Last year we sailed the 4 day Eastern and enjoyed one our best vacations ever! When we were planning this year's cruise we considered others but decided to stay with a safe bet. 3 additional days can only make the experience more magical. :wizard: Love the idea for the shoes and will definitely pick one up for the trip. Thanks.

Karen and Roy (p.s. we used to live in snowy NY (Albany/Saratoga) and feel your pain of cold temps

I started taking inventory of what would be needed, especially for my soon to be 2 year old, that nothing fits anymore (we are having a growth spirt) and realized I really didn't know how cool it will get at night or how cool the ship was with the AC's. If anyone who has traveled previous febs, would let me know I would really appriciate it. I'm sure I could find it somewhere, but going through the terrible two's and my 15 year old, I am lucky I am here now.
Thank you all.

:confused3

SamB - I am having the same problems. I've had a growth spurt too! I am scared to check my summer clothes because I may not have anything left that fits! Sure glad the stores have the spring/summer lines already out. :confused3

When we went last year, we wore bathing suit, sundresses during the day, and dresses, skirts tops at night, with a light jacket to go on deck, we went on the Eastern, and it was 80 degrees on the island, except castaway cay where it was cloudy, windy and cooler......
It is -17 F here this morning, so at this point 50 will be a heat wave.......
