February 25th Magic Cruise Board

OK let me see if I can cover all this. :)

First I am a stay at home dad and I am in charge of decorations for out cabin door and such.

Did you do Remy on the new ship? Nope

Do you just prefer not to eat in the Adult areas or with all the kids you just cant? I think we would like to try it sometime but with all the little ones we enjoy having dinner with them.

IT really is nice maybe one of these times you can try it.

DO you guys get a suite or do you do 2 cabins? We get 2 joining cabins. Boys in one and girls in the other.

We fly out of Indiana at 11 and will arrive in FL at 1:20p from there we will have a Disney shuttle take us to Contemporary(sp) Pop once we are unpacked Ill take a shuttle to DTD my husband and son dont like it there so itll probably just be Mom, myself and Sydney..she loves Bippity. Im going to schedule the latest appt which is 430 I think!

Photo Matte is a great idea...Think I will put Sydney's Make a Wish cruise on it along w her pic so all the characters can see just how special she is:)

Decided to book some adult time BUT all Palo reservations are SOLD OUT!!! WOW didnt realize it would be. Im glad I didnt wait for Make a Wish to send me my Disney packet since I havent received it. In return, I found all of you or I wouldnt know anything and all activites would be BOOKED. Getting excited purchased a Minnie outfit for everyday for Sydney..just look for the cutest girl with Down syndrome and her Minnie apparel:) Ordered our FE and working on all the gifts:) Working on our matching shirt for boarding!!
Who is the "captain" of this ship?? Is it Mickey?

Keep checking for Palo people cancel /change their mind all the time. Also when you board you can check for reservations then because they usually hold some back. Dinner will probably be easier to get than brunch. Yes Captain of all DCL ships is Mickey but according to the concierge team they told me that the captain on our sailing will be Captain Marco Nogara and cruise director Darren McBurney(in 12 DCL cruises have never had either so can't tell you much more):goodvibes

That's so great! Do you normally do the door decorations, or is this your first time? I am not being nosy, I just need some tips on how to get DH to lend his creative talent to my door-decorating project!

Don't worry, Denise. By the time I figured it out last time, Palo was all sold out in advance. Not only were we able to add dinner and brunch once we boarded, but we were able to get a second reservation later in the week with no problem just by calling Palo directly from our cabin. As soon as you board, have one adult in your party go directly to Rockin' Bar D (double-check the location with a CM, but this is usually where they are set up to make changes to dinner rotations and seatings, book Palo and sell Spa passes). I'm sure you'll get a spot!;)

P.S. - Is that Sydney in your avatar pic? SO adorable!

Dizzi - can you call him DH if the wedding is right before the cruise? :rotfl: JK!!
When i signed on Saturday AM i thought it was strange that it was almost 24 hours without a post from you, and then I'm off for 2 days, and you blow up the thread again! :lmao:

Three wilmingtonwalls- he didn't give me a new price. I'm guessing we can talk him down from what he quoted you. He just gave me the standard price $40 and said to remind him to include with your group on the van/bus?

dpequinot- i'm doing an embroidered pillowcase for DS's character signatures. A lady on e-bay is making it, along with our FE. I'm not that crafty. FE Gifts are going to challenge me as it is!

Welcome all the new folks!:banana::banana:

Less than 50 days until we sail!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

It also applies to drunken college kids too, but it seems sort of an Appalachain / hillbilly thing. I went to Ohio University, and they would often burn couches after big party weekends, especially if the party got out of hand and the police came. The rows of houses just off campus ALL had ratty old sofas where everyone would hang out on nice days. Think the worst goodwill couch that never sells, even though it's only $5...:rotfl::rotfl:

Hi, I'm new to DCL and your thread has been wonderful, very helpful. I have a few questions which I hope someone can answer:

1. Which side of St. Martin will we dock on?
2. Can we bring alcohol back to the ship when we are in either St. Thomas or St. Martin?
3. How formal is "formal" night? Do men have to wear jackets/suits? We want to save room in luggage and not pack DH's suit, if possible.
4. We have the late seating for dinner but 2 younger kids (DS8, DD6), so what's the recommended strategy to feed them earlier and keep them occupied during dinner (either with us at the restaurant or at the kids club)? How well does the kids club feed the kids for dinner/lunch?
5. How do we book the character breakfast?

Thanks a bunch!

That's great! He quoted us $70/person for just the five of us. I wanted to make sure we weren't going to pay $700 for a private tour. :scared1:

I have all kinds of friends, but you, dizzi, are now officially my first hillbilly! That's pretty awesome. :lmao:

Welcome! I will try to answer you as best I can, but anyone is free to correct me if they have better info. :)

1) I'm pretty sure we dock in Phillipsburg, St. Maarten, which I guess if we are talking "sides" is on the south side of the island.

2) The last time I checked the duty free limits, I believe they were 1L per person in St. Maarten and 5L per person in St. Thomas (6L if one L is from a "local" producer.) Daily Navigators will give you specific, current information on allowable duty-free purchases in each port.

3) We did see some people wearing nice dress shirts and slacks on formal night. Jacket and tie or suit are not required.

4) If your kids are registered for the Oceaneers Club, you can let your dining room servers know that you want to do "Dine & Play" as soon as you are seated. They will get the little ones fed quickly, then at about 9 (9:15) a CM will come to the main entrance of the dining room to take them to the Club.
If they prefer to stay at the table, the servers are pretty good at trying to keep them entertained in different little ways throughout the course of the meal.
If they eat in the club, they are given pretty basic fare, chicken nuggets, sandwiches, etc.

5) You do not need to book your character breakfast. It is pre-assigned to everyone and there should be tickets waiting for you in your stateroom when you board.

I hope this info helps!

Have finally got time to get back on here, and have just spent the last half hour reading through all that has been added since just before Xmas. Lots of new cruisers - great & welcome :banana::banana:.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas :santa::santa:,like we did and a better New Year than we did!! DH has just got back from a stay in hospital where he had his appendix removed! He was taken in on 29th December by air ambulance (sounds dramatic, but as we live on an island 30 miles from mainland UK, he had to be flown), and finally got back home on 3rd January. Not a great place to celebrate New Year's Eve - but better than having to be taken off from a Disney Cruise I suppose. He's recovering slowly and once he's finally off the antibiotics we will be able to open the bottle of champagne I had ready for NYE!!

To cheer ourselves up we did a bit more holiday planning and have booked our dining for our WDW stay before the cruise. We have booked a lunch a TRex - went there last year asd DS loved it - he made a great dino afterwards, a dinner in AK Rainforest Cafe (DS hasn't been to one of these as the last time we went in Vegas, I was pregnant with him!), then have booked a dining package to get reserved seating for Fantasmic at HWS. Very touristy, I know, but if we are flying all the way from the UK we have to do the whole bit!

Broached the subject of wearing matching T shirts with DH - his response was "I hope not", so we shall see. Will definately update our door magnets from last year.

Is any one else going to the port on the DCL coach from WDW? We are booked on and it worked great last time. Great videos on the trip to keep DS entertained and we had no queues at check-in at all.

Next job is to update our visa waiver paperwork to make sure we get into the States in the first place, then it's on to making our FE. I used to be able to sew, but haven't done any for years, so it could be interesting!:upsidedow:scared1:

Will read through all the rest of the new stuff tomorrow to make sure I haven't missed anything important and have just PM'd through our cabin number for the FE.

Just previewed this - it's a bit long - sorry. Just to make it longer DH has just shown me a clip of the float-out of the Fantasy!! Glad to see it's floating seeing as we are booked on it next year!:cheer2::cheer2:

I AND WELCOME!!!!:cool1::cool1:

1, Not sure
2. YEs you can bring alchohol back, you can even take it to your room, BUT if you open plan to drink it all. WE always get the Guava berry we purchase as much as we can in the large bottles and then buy some of the small ones to drink on the ship.
3. FOrmal night is as formal as you want it to be and no you do not HAVE to wear a suit. I am wearing a BALL GOWN and DH wearing a suit with matching tie.
4. WEll, there are several solutions, feed them early at one of the walk up placces on deck 10 and take them to the kids club before you eat dinner, or ask servers to bring out kids meal quickly and then have the CMs take them to the kids club, every one eat on deck noone come to dinner, I DONT THINK KIDS CLUB FEED LUNCH BUT NOT SURE!!
5. YOU DONT HAVE TO BOOK this your tickets will be in your room!!!

DISCLAIMER.....on treadmill while typing!!

we have called each other DH and DW for years as we have lived with each other for near 10 years and as we were dealing with children it was just easier.

so time to make it offical dont you think:cool1:
