February 25, 2006 Western Magic Cruisers!!

Who evers going on the Chacchoben ruins tour with David and Ivan, they are truly amazing guys. David was our guide and spend 5 hours with us (note: the bus ride is 50 minutes there and back), he was so patient and had so much information to share about the ruins as well as Costa Maya that it was truly a wonderful experience. Ivan even came by to say hello and introduce himself. We took our DD 10 and DS 4 and they all had a great time as well. Enjoy!! :thumbsup2

As for packing sandwiches you may want to bring some sandwich bags with you for putting them in your cooler. Just note that your cooling box doesn't keep stuff frozen or really cold so you may not want anything with mayonnaise. Don't want to get sick!!

Sorry to impose on your cruise discussion, I just thought that you might like some tips. Enjoy your vacation. pixiedust:

Now the kids are interested in going on the Maya Tour with David and Ivan. I need to check with DM and DA to see if they want to do this as well.

Don't forget to order sandwiches and chips and cookies the night before your excursions to bring off the ship. Don't worry - it's allowed. We carried ours right off. You paid for it. They're yummy.

Anything else? I can't recall.

Going to work out....

Hi Kim,

Do you mean order the sandwiches, etc through room service and have them delivered in the morning?

Thanks!

Can you order them wrapped, or plan to bring sandwich size ziplocks too ?
I would image you could have it delivered either night before, or AM ? or do they only serve breakfast stuff in AM ?
Night before could go in fridge... pack in cooler in AM

opps thanks disneymum for sandwich & David Ivan tour Tips..
Share all the tips you like :teeth:

Inside the cabin you will find a book. Inside the book you will see a list of items you can order from room service. We called on the stateroom phone the night before and ordered three sandwiches, three chocolate chip cookies, three sodas and three bags of chips. We put them in our little Castaway Cay bag (we had purchased on another trip. It's the size of 6 cans of soda). It was all packed so great that we just put in the bag. We tipped $3.00 for the delivery. The sandwiches were uncrustables. I'd never had them before and they were delicious. It certainly was needed after the excursion because it's actually alot of work snorkeling. I hated to purchase food on the island.

It's my suggestion that you stuff some additional baggies in your luggage. the cookies come on a plate with saran-type wrap. It's pretty good but there was an unwrap factor that I didn't dare mess with.

Another thing I picked up from these awesome boards was to bring a wet washcloth from the cabin off the ship, in a baggie. There's something about salt-water on your face for long periods of time. It was great to have that on hand.

Don't forget the Purell minis for the on and off-ship activities. Do you really trust people wash their hands? I wonder how many railings on the DCL ships? hmmmm. Lots of germies there!

Did anyone else book their cruise with them? I am filling out those Bahamas forms - oh, how I HATE paperwork :sad2: - and they request the city of the agency. Where the heck is Dreams Unlimited??? :confused3 I have been combing their website looking for something that says where they are, but now luck!! Anyone else know? Ugh. I am about to give up!! :crazy2:

Ok, I have been searching the DISboard, and lo and behold, I found the answer to this!! Hooray for this board!! I don't know how to link to another post or even sure if I have posted enough to be able to do that, so for anyone else with the same question, they are located in Blackwood, NJ.

The Shaggy Dog with Tim Allen. That was actually the main reason for my calling DCL to ask them. I was hoping it would be b/c everyone here wants to see it too. She said that was the complete list they have at this time - so maybe we'll get a pleasant surprise on board, but I'm not counting on it.

Melanie

They don't tell you in advance if a new movie will be showing, but they release movies on the ship the same time as the theater. So if a new movie is coming out while we are on the ship, it should be showing on board.

Okay, Mark just got off the phone with Disney Cruiseline, and they say all ashore in Costa Maya is 10:30 a.m. Anybody else wanna call and see if you get anything different? LOL!

Our family is planning a visit to the Turtle Farm on Grand Cayman, but think we will do it on our own, instead of the DCL tour. Has anyone gone to the turtle farm, and, if so, what arrangements did you use to get there?

From what I understand, the turtle farm is located on the other side of the island from where we are tendered ashore?

Our grandson is 4 and our granddaughter is 18 months, so our daughter felt that the tour would be too long for them.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Only three more days and a wake up as we used to say in the Air Force.

"Sea" you soon. Leta

Okay, I don't like our sign. :crazy2: But I am out of time, so it will have to do.

Let's see if it shows up.
