February 25, 2006 Western Magic Cruisers!!

Hello from Koln, Germany . . .

I hope everyone in the Northeast is OK after that whopper of a storm. Even made the news here! Good luck digging out, and remember that we all will be warm in less than 2 weeks.

I'll try to take a gander at the boards and answer questions if I can.

Stay warm and dry all . . .

Rick

I want some of that snow! We haven't had near enough here in CO. :sad2:

I thought I read somewhere that we had to be back at the ship somewhere around 5:00 or 5:30? I hope I dreamed it.

I am still fretting over Costa Maya. I know, I know. But I had all of our plans finalized, and now I have to start again. I have read things about Maya Palms Beach Resort. But I don't know if I know enough about it.

The beaches in Majalalala (forgot how to really spell it!) don't have beach chairs. Just regular, cheap, plastic chairs. Don't know how comfy that will be for a "day at the beach." So yeah, still fretting a bit. :confused3

Hi Jeff! Donna and I made our green mickey paint swatches into pins and are going to put our names on them. I put my DIS screen name on there...and then we'll wear the name tags around the hotel...the port...etc. I dont think I'm going to get the rest of the family to wear them...but thats ok!!

Thanks I'll have to get working on them

I don't mean to burst any bubbles but...
According to a Western Navigator (posted on someone else's site) for the Magic cruise on I believe 12/15 or there about, the all aboard time for Costa Maya was 5:30, departure at 5:45. This can probably be cleared up with a phone call to a travel agent tomorrow, but for now we are planning our Costa Maya activities as if we are going to be on the ship by 5:30.

Jennifer

We were only Guestamating based on Cozumel times (which was 10-10), but they may not want to be at Costa Maya after dark, :rotfl:

Sally, I've been working at getting back to Lifetime all 2005. I stayed at the same weight, within two pounds. Maybe psychologically I think I'm taller than 5' 2.5?? Wish I were - then my pudge would be stretched! Oh well. I can't wait for the midnight dessert buffet. Does everyone know about that night? Yah - it's to die for. One year we took a nap and set a wake up call from Mickey for midnight! Ha! Just a BLT, right? Bite, lick and taste?

Okay, time for bed - it's way past my normal bed time tonight.

If anyone has questions just ask - I love trying to answer them.

Kim

I'm far away from lifetime but I'll get there :) We have an awesome group and I love the meetings with them. My SIL will be with us on the cruise and she goes to the same meetings. That midnight buffet sounds incredible!! I hope I can do it... if I lay down after eating stuff like that... let's just say it doesn't stay down. That alone will keep me in check for most of the cruise. :thumbsup2

Kim I have a question for you... What do you think about the timing on Costa Maya? They had us in Cozumel for 12 hrs. And we only switched islands.. I think it's a little further away so maybe 10 hrs. there. I was hoping Disney would give us more time in Grand Caymen and take time off of Costa Maya.. Do you think they did? That would be awesome! Otherwise what else did they do with the extra 6 hrs.?

Oh man... Watching those incredible videos was awesome!!! You are very good at making those! But it makes me sure wish I had started my diet a year sooner!!! :rotfl2:

Grand Cayman is before Costa Maya [if they leave Costa early, just means early arrival at Castaway Cay]
actually Costa is about the same distance from Cayman, but Costa is further away from Castaway, so I'd say maybe need 2 hrs to make up... maybe get us to castaway ealier to enjoy that one more ? I am sure Disney has it all figured out

:wave2: :yay:
Good morning to you also Rick!!!! Great to hear from you!!!!! Glad al is well and that you can drop in. As you can see there are a bunch of newcomers that we welcome and the posts are coming in so fast alot of us cannot keep up!! So good luck!

I too, DID make time to watch the videos and it was great. I am going to try to get my DGD4 to sit down and watch it with me to get her excited!!!

We are doing an excursion through the Island Marketing Ltd. We just do not seem to have enough hours on this island to plan on anything else but the tour. If we have left over time, I am thinking shopping or beach. However.... partier that I am  .... I will PROBABLY pass up the $30 Beach party and just do what I have to do to get a chair... order a drink at a time. If I do the beach party I may try to hard to get my monies worth and not make it for pirate night!! :confused3 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao:
I am planning on having my day at Costa Maya end at 5. If it is longer... then that will switch my plans, but I am trying to be safer than sorrier.

Beaner.... you mentioned DH not getting excited... I can relate....mine says he does not want to get his hopes up in so his expectations are not let down. I said GET YOUR HOPES UP!!! It will be GREAT!!!! It is 7 days away from the phone, computer, and work with all the food and even SLEEP if he chooses!! Even if the weather is bad... it is STILL vacation!!!  :woohoo:

OK everyone... I just cannot keep up with you guys but I SO enjoy reading and canot wait to meet you all.!!! :grouphug: :woohoo:

Being away from work is a vacation in itself... being on a Cruise is incredible.. don't even need to stop anywhere.... 12 days is a while to be excited for some.. I just enjoy finding stuff that can be visited.. try to be prepared
As long as it doesn't snow or freeze, I'll be happy

Use Tip Calculator for Cruise you are on http://cruisetip.tpkeller.com/
To those Crew Members who have provided excellent service to you, the following guidelines are suggested by DCL:
Person: Seven-Night Cruise
Stateroom Host/Hostess $25.25
Dining Room server 25.75
Dining room asst. server 18.75
Dining room head server 6.50
Dining Manager Your discretion
Room Service Your discretion

~These amounts are for each guest per cruise, not per day. Children also receive services from these crewmembers, so you should tip on their behalf also. Therefore if you are a party of 2 adults and 2 children, multiple the above amounts times 4 for excellent service.

~We normally tip the room service crewmember $1 for dropping of the tray; $2 if they were particularly helpful.

~Child counsellors are not allowed to receive cash tips. But gifts are ok. Most people give International phone cards from what I've seen. I also saw Target/Walmart gift cards mentioned

Bahamas Form - This is used becasue Castaway Cay is in the Bahamas. In section 1, you need to fill out name, passport number (if you have one), birthdate, and address. Also, check arriving by Discovery Cruises/Ferry/Other Ship. Put the date of arrival as 03/03/06 and put "PC" as where you boarded the ship. In section 2, list your TA and their city. Also put "1" for number of nights, check the "other" box and list the "Disney Magic" as the hotel name. Everyone in the group needs to fill out a form (including children).

Other docs - You only have to fill out the minor authorization form if you are travelling with kids without their parents. The payment authorization form is the official signature form the KTTW charges. The embarkation form is to list an emergency contact. Finnaly, everyone must sign the cruise contract form.

I just called my travel agent and she called Disney, and found out that we are leaving Costa Maya at 6pm that day. (Much better than 10!!) And I think the Pirate party is that night too. :)

I still feel confident with David and Ivan. We have 3 hrs. leeway :)

It's not getting here fast enough!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Around here it's referred to as "ypsi" (rhymes with tipsy). Full name -"IP-SA-LAN-TE"

Very strange name, therefore I generally tell people I from the Ann Arbor area. Almost everyone understands where the "Big House" is.

Glad you are enjoying the videos. Hopefully some of you are featured in the next one!

By the way just for the record my husband and oldest daughter love camping (her first backcountry trip was at 3 1/2) My youngest could take it or leave it (the grass itches her feet you know) and I am most certainly not a camping girl. Although I enjoyed our trip last year it took my husband 12 years of coaxing to get me to go, and it will probably be about that long before I get talked into another. I'm fine with this as I feel that it's a great bonding opportunity for a Father and 2 DD's. (BACK ME UP LADIES!!!!) :teeth:

Oops! Forgot the most important event for Thursday, my birthday! LOL! Seriously, are there others on here having birthdays on the cruise?

I love camping and have taken the girls by myself before with hubby coming up on the weekend.

Okay, so no one minds that there are no beach chairs in Mahahual except me?

My girls refer to it as the cruise song and dance around like maniacs every time they hear it. :cool1: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc  :woohoo: :bounce:

They've been watching the video from our last cruise almost daily for two weeks now! They are just a little bit excited!

I made my green tags today too. I need to laminate them or get them onto a pin or something. I labeled them Kshabare and put Norm, Kim and Josh on each one. Last year we just clipped them to our backpacks and daybags so that people noticed mine at least. What else was there to do today anyway?

I think I'm going to get my opportunity to kayak in Costa Maya. The boys will probably go on those boats and I'll paddle myself silly. At least I can consider it exercise.

If anyone has questions just ask - I love trying to answer them.

Kim

Kim (and Norman)
Thanks for organizing the new list. It looks great :thumbsup2
