February 2015 car rental code watch!

So the vroom vroom code was showing one price on the page where you pick your vehicles (a reasonable $200 for 9 days) but when checking out it'd be raised to $260 or more. I also found online that vroom vroom is for int'l travelers and that's why it comes with insurance. There were reports of people being denied the free insurance if they were US citizens.

are you sure it comes with insurance? am no seeing that on their site.

The week of 2/17 through 2/24/2015 is really pricing out so high! It's Presidents week, but after Presidents day. Grrrrrrrrrr.

If you type in those dates without codes, the Dolphin still has everything available. :confused3

Noooo but thanks again for mentioning the Dolphin. WE arrive much too late /evening and I don't think the Dolphin would even be open.

yep

E: not that it matters if it's void to US residents. YMMV

Thanks for posting the Alamo code, best rate I could find for 2/11-2/16 MCO pickup, TPA return. I had been doing all kinds of crazy split rental/ME then short date rental to get the rate under 200.00. These boards are so helpful!

So for US citizens are they still honoring the code/rate? Would I need the insurance, since my own auto insurance already covers me and rental cars????

Just started looking for rental for the Princess Half Marathon weekend (2/19 - 2/23). Prices are way high. Will keep looking and hope they go down or it might be MDE for me. ugh...

Made an Alamo reservation for a compact for $180.15. Really would like something bigger (and cheaper).

Well YMMV as it's kind of hard to find reports, but I've seen several posts across the net spanning a few years where the posters report being told that it's targeted at int'l travelers (apparently meaning coming from another continent, as one poster was from Canada) so that's why it includes insurance. The reports state that the insurance was denied but they were given the quoted price. Again, YMMV, if it is a concern I'd suggest you call Alamo once making a reservation and have them check. If you already have insurance through a credit card, I'd think all that mattered was getting the low rate, so it'll likely work out fine.

I just booked the same thing. I plan to keep looking and cancel if I can find something better.

I tried the code and it tells me I have to change my return day. Does anybody know if you can return a car earlier than scheduled. It's crazy that without a code a sunday to friday is over 300.00. But with the codes I can book for a full week for 200.00

I would suspect that you need the Saturday night stay to qualify for the weekly rate

Another one looking for Princess Weekend. 19-22nd. Unless the prices come down, looks like it'll be MDE for me

Thank you for your insight. I'm not worried about the insurance, since our policy already covers rentals. I just would like the lower rate. So I'm hoping that will work out. THANK YOU!

180 is great. Did you use a code or ? I would love 180 but getting much higher. Is that for just a few days or a week? Thanks.

I used this: If you are an Alamo insider, then use these codes Coupon Code AD7394SDJ and contract ID 299851.

Its for the dates I listed - 2/19 - 2/23 so it's a weekly rental. I tried to shorten it by a day today and the price went up to over $500.

I also made a 4 day reservation for 2/20 - 2/23 on National Emerald Aisle for $186.41. Stupid expensive, but I'll keep checking.
