FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

Lori, my sympathies for the passing of your BIL. I am praying that your father and family will be well soon. To all of you with sick kids, etc. let's pray for health and healing. Sometimes I visualize my immune system fighting off the bad stuff while I am saying my prayers. I also tell my kids "you'll be well soon, your body heals quickly" figuring that positive thinking can only help.

I hope to see all of you in good spirits and health at WDW for Mardi Gras!

:grouphug: Gayle

Gayle - I know this was primarily for Lori, but I wanted to say Thank You!!!!
I totally agree - I believe positive thinking breeds positivity in all aspects!!!
I also pray we are all healthy and in good spirits for our trips!!

See all of you soon!! :grouphug:

Reading the posts about Lori's brother in law, and everyone's various illnesses reminds me to be appreciative of the opportunity to take such a great trip to Disney World. We never know what can happen in our lives, so to be able to spend time with the people we love at such an amazing place is a gift. This trip is costing us a lot of money, and sometimes the practical side of me thinks the money would be better spent (or saved!) in other ways. However, there is nothing more important than quality time with our families. Obviously, there are other ways to have quality time together, but this is a special opportunity, and I am going to remember to enjoy and appreciate it, instead of worrying about the cost.

I hope everyone gets healthy, and has a wonderful time on their trip!

By the way, I am so psyched that Splash Mountain will be open! How great is that??!!

Thank you all very much

Well, DH called me with the arrangements and they will be Tuesday. It means 2 good things for me personally, even though it' ain't about me...
1. no missing any Disney days
2. no missing any work unless DH wants to spend a weekend day over there(southshore)-happy about it b/c this is the only time I am working to make money for the paycheck for when we get back from Disney and I have no food in the house! BUT, also was possibly secretly looking to take a day off anyway b/c I'd rather be with family right now. Well, all the time, not just right now!!

On another note, I agree with travelmomof4 on the visualization technique. When Ashton was on chemo, when she went to sleep, I'd lay next to her and visualize the blood cells in her body being bright and healthy and happy and perfect for a "good long life". I would picture the chemo killing the cancer cells and avoiding the good ones. I STILL pray over my children every night and over her I picture the Holy Spirit in every breath she takes and protecting her spinal fluid and bone marrow and every last cell in her body. Kinda' deep I guess, but true. Over my 8 year old, I pray for different things for her-she is a challenge-but FUN challenge!!
It really helps with MY outlook too!!:woohoo:

Hi WendyPooh,

If I remember all the previous posts that I have read..it seems like you have been to Disney a few times during Mardi Gras. As you just said to the last poster..is it really typically not that crowded? For example, what is the longest you have ever had to wait for a ride?

Hey all...the kiddos are getting sick AGAIN!!! I don't know what to do. I have been running around with my Lysol wipes but to no avail. They are back to the doctor tomorrow. Hopefully this will be it and whatever they have will go far, far away and never return. Please Jesus, bless us with good news and good health at least until March. :worship:

Hey ~ Yes, this time of year (late Jan. early Feb.) is when we go and yes, it is typically a lot less crowded. We did go one year when the 500 and pres. week crowds were there and yes, it was more crowded, but not horrible. Typically, the wait times are minimal - I think one time we waited for soarin for like 40 min. and that was ODD!!!! I'd guess roughly no more than 20 /30 min. at the most, but generally 15 min. or less. That has been our experience anyway. Sometimes, we even have had walk on. I know one time we rode buzz literally like 30 times in a row!!! no kidding, walk on!! We've even been on test track and not have to get off for repeated rides!!! The crowds just depend though. I'm certainly hoping that they are low again this trip!!!

Also, just to clarify, we've never gone during Mardi Gras. Typically it is NOT Mardi Gras at this time of year. Mardi Gras is VERY VERY early this year. I don't know how that will affect the crowds, but I'm hoping it won't be bad.

Let's all keep our fingers crossed for low crowds, short lines, awesome weather and healthy kiddos!!!! :thumbsup2

See ya SOON!!!!!:cool1:

AMEN!

Lori, I'm sorry to hear about your BIL. My FIL's sister passed Fri, we had the services yesterday. I hope your dad feels better soon.

My dd has been congested since Fri, and this morning I woke up with it and a sore throat and just feel like I got ran over by a mac truck. Hope everyone is feeling better soon. I so can't wait until next week.
Sharon

I am sorry for your families loss also. God bless-Lori

Lori, I am sorry for your and your families loss and I hope your father will be feeling better soon!

I find it amazing what a lovely and supportive thread this has become, I think we added actually more pages after the codes came out than it had before! I hope everyone will be in excellent health soon!

Lori, if you are still wanting a tip for an easy German meal, I would suggest sausages (the ones you have in hot dogs, are they called Frankfurters?) with potato salad. Very typical, many families have this on Christmas Eve, our main Christmas day here (at least that's when everyone gets their presents and most people would go to church).

WOW! That's EASY! I am not much of a hotdog person, BUT I can do the pure beef ones w/out all the 'stuff" in it that is common in USA hotdogs (blech!) but THAT is what we will do. I will have to do it tomorrow as time is running out and we did not do school today-we still have 5 countries to do!!!! I don't think we'll finish BUT we have a 10 hour drive that i can at least give them the printed out activities to do.

Yeah, I really like the people I have 'met' on this thread!

Okay well we haven't gotten sick, but DD10 is sounding congested!! when she gets congested, it usually becomes a sinus infection. I'll be pullin' out the snotty potty (neti pot) tonight and tomorrow. See if we can ward it off, if she still has signs by next Monday-we're off to the doc.

Worse than being sick though, my husbands older brother diedtoday. He was 50 and had major heart problems, so it may have been a heart attack. It was a suprise though as who plans on a 50 year old passing away. I feel for his mom, as we should all pass on before our children-ouch. Of course, I am sorry for his wife, daughter and granddaughters, also. On top of that, I called my dad minutes later to tell him what happened and he sounded BAD-worse than I have ever heard him. Well, he is in the ER right now with my sister and my brother from Gozales is on his way b/c my DN5 has strep, ear infection, and impetigo but no fever-she is in great spirits and you'd never know she was sick. He is a diabetic and it seems he has the flu, his sugar is high and he has 101 fever. You know you have to be careful when diabetics get sick. His health has deteriorated over the past years drastically.

uggghhhhh........................ sigh..........................................:sad2: :sad1: :guilty:

Lori

Oh Lori, I'm so sorry for your family's loss. God bless and comfort all of you in this difficult time. I hope DD is well soon also.

I checked the Disney World website this morning and it says that Splash mountain and snow white scary adventures will be open Jan 31. I just wanted to let you Feb. disers know.

Wooohooo!!!!!! This is finally good news coming in!

I couldn't agree more!

I don't know why my previous post is listed as the last one but is not showing when I bring up the thread????:confused3 In case it never shows: Lori, I am so sorry for your family's loss and I pray that God will comfort all of you in this difficult time. I hope that DD feels better soon also. We all need/deserve this trip to be totally wonderful. We're about down to one week now!!!! Oh and Snow White and Splash are back online as being closed - shux!

:dance3:  :cool1: :cheer2: :yay: :cool1: 6 Days!!

Wierd thing is its showing as only closed until 1/31, at least thats what it said when I checked this morning :confused3

I just checked for my Feb. 8-19 dates this morning and it has them both listed as being closed :confused3

I'm going to plan that Splash Mountain will be closed, so if it is open, it will be a nice surprise! Besides, it's not as if there aren't hundreds of other things to do. I think we'll be okay, even if it is still closed.

My neighbors are leaving for WDW on Sunday. I'm so jealous! They get home the day before we leave. Also, one of my college friends just e-mailed me to let me know they've planned a last-minute Disney trip that will overlap with our trip. I guess it's the place to be in February!:cool1:
