FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

I am so excited-got all my ADRs booked today (with the exception of the Donald's Breakfast at AK-they are not booking it yet). However, I think it might be crowed even the week before President's Day because I had a hard time getting reservations at CP and Kona-not restaurants I think of as being traditionally tough to get at the 180 day mark.

What meal was Kona tough to get? I didn't make an ADR for this because I was thinking breakfast wouldn't be that tough to get. Should I go run and make a quick call?

I'm sorry but it's seem that you choose a pretty busy time to go the Disney.
I subscribe to Touring plans web site and they predict heavy crowd starting Saturday 6 Feb '08 to Sat, 23 Feb '08 (everday is '9' except 2 days is '8' crowds level). They predict that the waiting time at the headliners attraction would be:

8 = Peak waits of 75 - 84 minutes
9 = Peak waits of 85 - 94 minutes

The crowds slowly trail off during the week after. If you have the choice, seem better to go the week before President Week (mostly 5 and 6).

I don't agree with their starting heavy date of 2/6: In the past, we've been there at that time, usually the week leading into Valentine's Day and I would in no way say that there were heavy crowds.

Now, this year we are going the days leading into President's weekend and then I would agree that crowds would be heavier then.

I think Zazou meant February 16th and missed the "1" in front of the "6". February 6th is a Wednesday in 2008. February 16th is a Saturday.

Based on Zazou's post, though.....it looks like you will be going during a 5/6 rating....which means low crowds.

Speed :teleport:

Yes, that would make much more sense :thumbsup2

Perhaps, but there are some extended hours on the weekend of 2/8, and the week leading up to the P-Week madness has 9PM closings at MK, instead of the more usual 8. It looks like that final week of Value season, for whatever reason, is drawing some expectations of crowds.

Even still, a crowded day in Disney world beats a day in the frozen tundra of home.

I agree. But it seems that starting 2/5 crowds are projected to pick up a little compared to the weeks before that.

To be honest I started to get a bit nervous about the longer park opening hours starting the weekend 7/8 February...

subscribing...going to disney feb 22 to march 1  ...dont know where we are staying yet! :confused3

I think the crowds will start to pick up a little starting that weekend of 2/7 and 2/8....but, it should still be slower than the crowds the following week for president's week.

2/5 is Mardi Gras Day in Louisiana...but, that usually doesn't make a big impact on the Disney Crowds.

2/17 is also the Daytona 500 race in nearby Daytona Beach, FL. It's like the Super Bowl of Nascar racing. There is actually a week of festivities leading up to the race. Festivities start on 2/9 with the Bud Shoot-Out Race. Daytona has a seating capacity of around 166,000...but, usually draws close to 200,000 fans.

I don't know how much of an impact the race has either...since there are races, qualifiers, etc during the entire week.

Hello Brian, could you be bnoble on the TGM forums??? Glad you are finally creeping out on this thread! I am Lori-laph93! yes, the one that has the problem with ADR's!! ha! I will be making one or 2 more, based on everything I have read here and on TGM and from a WDW rep I talked to.

I like your attitude about being in WDW is better than freezing-while I don't have that issue so much down here in the New Orleans area, I could say better in WDW than in the Mardi Gras crowds downtown!

Have a good night-Lori

Thanks for correcting the date, zazou! I clutched my heart for a moment-that seemed to fly in the face of everything I'd researched!

So far, we're thinking of heading down on Tues., Feb. 5th. That is our 25th anniversary. We're thinking of staying 8 nights.

But if the crowds are anticipated to be high, we can easily end our trip on the 5th, instead of starting then.

I just got an email from Disney Rewards Visa for specials through December. Not us yet but that means the next time codes come out it will be for January/February. :cool1:

Week before last I changed my dates to 2/12 through 2/19. Today, in the mail, I get a new confirmation. It also announced the 2008 rates. Something is weird.

Did the policy change that if your reservation starts in value season, you get value season rates for all nights of your stay?

I've got different rates for different dates.

We are at Coronado Springs - 7 nights

nights 4, 5 & 6 are $204/night
nights 3 & 7 are $189/night
nights 1 & 2 are $149/night

Did the policy change?? If so, I miseed the announcement!

Yes, unfortunately, beginning in 2008 this is the new policy. If you do a search, you will likely find several threads that will explain everything.

Wow - that's what I get for not visiting the DIS more frequently.

I just called to pay the "balance" of my deposit. I booked 2007 rates and had to pay the difference to 2008 rates. I asked about the AAA discount and saved $400 on our room at the Poly! Woohoo!

Can't wait to see if some codes come out for February that will beat that!

Tour Guide Mike! If you pay $18ish bucks (discount thru the Dis) he has great ideas and helps you get thru the parks with minimal wait times. I have found it worth every penny so far. Membership expires 3 months after your vacation! It is an extensive planning site-and it has forums to talk to others going at the same time!-Lori

My family will be going to WDW Feb 2-10 2008 We are excited this will be our first real vacation in 10 years of marrage and the youngest kids' first time to Disney
