This will be my first trip to Disney with my son who is 8 years old. I'm a big planner and like to be organized and one of my main questions is:

in reading these boards a lot of people talk about making meal reservations 90 days in advance. Is this really necessary? Plus how can I make reservations when they haven't posted Feb 2004 early entry days for the parks which will determine which days I'll visit each park?

plus if I need to make meal reservations which are the favorites (and why) and which seating is preferred and why? Please indicate park and restaurant/dinner show in your posting.

I'm leaning towards AK on Monday and MK on Tuesday. I like the strategy of going really early and then heading back to our off-site condo in the afternoon.

Comments? Suggestions? Thanks!!!

I am wondering the same thing. So far, almost everyone has told me it depends on when in Feb. I'm going the last week. I'm making all my PS 90 days in advance. If you are going in early Feb the crowds are different andyou might not have to.

Regardless I'd get them for CRT, and any dinner shows you want and character meals.

Hi WilliamsMom - welcome to the DISboards.

The 90 day booking window is necessary for those must have Priority Seatings for favorite places like character breakfasts in the park and of course breakfast at cinderella's castle. Though you are going in February, a quieter time of year. If you eating outside the parks you probably don't have to worry so much about the 90 day mark.

WDW doesn't tend to change it's early opening days for the parks - somewhere here on the DIS you'll find what park opens early on what day... even though Febraury's operating hours haven't been posted.

I am sure one of the amazing Disney expert parents will give you some great advise about your Mum and Son trip. Have a blast! :sunny:

My husband is coming too but in delegating trip planning he took on the reservations i.e. airfare & accomodations (with input from me of course!!) and I'm the one planning the vacation daily strategy.

So if I understand you correctly...if my son isn't into character breakfasts and I can't talk "the guys" into a castle reservation that basically leaves reservations for the dinner shows? I'm kind of on the fence about those based on feedback from folks on this board and others. I'm not really into "hokey" shows especially if the food isn't that good.
