February 20, 2011 DREAM

We just booked this cruise on Monday!! We will be in a Cat. 5E (#5664.) This will be our 5th Disney Cruise. We have another booked for Dec. 2010. It will be me (32), DW (32) and DS (2--almost 3.) We will be adjoining with some friends of ours in #5662! Looking forward to being on the 6th cruise the Dream takes!!!

I REALLY want to go on this cruise, but the cheapest categories right now are Cat 5's. We are currently booked on the 2/24 3 night and am hoping at some point a lower cat will open on this cruise and we can jump in with y'all! B2B would be so great!

Category 9A and 8AB&C are all available as well as all of the veranda categories. Looking at the deck plans there seem to be very few inside cabins.

We booked one when they were first available, we thought we would like to try out the virtual porthole.

Really? Why am i only seeing Cat 5D? No ocean view or inside staterooms are coming up for me? Did you see this on the DCL website? I would love it if Cat 9 was open.

9A is showing on the DCL website, it's a GTY but available.

We booked B2B with this as the second leg assigned stateroom 6501. The 2/17 we are booked 10a in a GTY, so we may be upgraded to an oceanview, we have had this happen a couple of times, booking inside and ending up either oceanview or veranda.

This is strange. I just checked and for the 2/20 cruise the lowest cat showing for me is cat 5. Im going to email TA and ask them to check for me today. Can you see what the price would be for 2 adults and 2 kids ages 4 and 6? thanks.

I checked with 2A 1C and the oceanview came up, with 2A and 2C it only shows cat 5. That is odd, all the cat 8's show sleep 3-5, the 9 shows 3-4. You would think that at least one of the available rooms would take 4. Maybe your TA can help.

Thanks so much for checking for me. Im going to email TA today about it.

We've had the same problem trying to book my cousin and her family...there are more available if you only have 1 child in the room, but not much available if you have 2 children...we don't understand why! We even booked it with 1 child and tried to call and add the second, and they wouldn't do it...wonder if it has to do with overall ship capacity???? Very frustrating!

I know it's kinda early to think about, but does anyone have plans yet for doing the parks while they are there. We will definitely be doing some before and after our cruise, we will probably travel on Thursday before the cruise to get some park time in on Friday and Saturday.

FYI;
We found it the cheapest to rent a car for the day trip to the port and just turn it in at Port Canaveral. We did this last time and it works out well. I picked up the car the night before the cruise in the Downtown Disney area and then the next day drive to the port, drop the family off with our bags at the ship and zip into town and drop off the car and bring the shuttle back to the ship. There is no drop off fee and when the ship comes back we make a reservation to pick up a car again and take it back to Disney.

The shuttle bus looks fun but it is very pricey, especially for 5 of us to take. I haven't checked prices yet but I think we did the rental thing last time for around $100 bucks for the round-trip. Renting a car allows us to get to the port early and be ready when the doors open and we can get on-board, then we have lots of time to explore the ship before the sail away party.

One time we also rented a Town Car service as well that was great too, and also cheaper than the Disney transfer.

Greetings from south of Regina, Gord! We have been booked since day 1 but this is the first I have read this thread. Very funny that someone from MJ will be on our ship (and our deck!). Can't wait to tell my hubby. FYI, I just booked a one way rental with Budget from WDW doubletree to Cape Canaveral for a 23 hour rental and it came to $29.99!! I was shocked so booked it immediately. We don't mind paying extra for the convenience of shuttles, but that was just too cheap to refuse and we want to go to KSC the day before anyway. Looking forward to getting to know our sail-mates. This is our first cruise of any kind and I don't think we could be any more excited!

Hi Everyone!

We will be on this cruise as well. This will be part 1 of our back to back on the Dream. We are booked in a cat 10A GTY. :cool1:

I haven't told my daughter yet...have you told your kids? We are going to try to keep it a secret, maybe have it as a Christmas present??? Doubt we can pull it off, but who knows?

It will be nice to have more kids the same age...maybe they will play together! My daughter is Erin; my cousin's kids are Lily and Noah. We are on the 9th deck.

Are you going to do the fish extender? I just learned about this yesterday, sounds like it would be fun for the kids.

Chriss :teacher:

I haven't told our kids, they are quite a bit older than your kids, they will be 11 and 14. I can't wait to tell them! I want to wait until Christmas, but I will probably wait until after our summer vacation - the minute we finish a vacation we need to stir up some excitement to get us through the first half of the school year:woohoo:

We just booked the other day!! Can't wait. Looking forward to school vacation week next Feb. My DD will be 6 when we go and is looking forward to trying out the kids club esp. Pixie Hollow.

I believe we got Cat 9A.

For those having trouble getting two kids in a room, I had this problem once, and I was told it had to do with Lifeboat capacity. There are certain rooms assigned to each lifeboat, and only a certain number of people can be in that set of rooms. Thus if those rooms all fill with 3 or 4 people there may only be a few seats available in that lifeboat, so only 2 or 3 can be booked in the remaining rooms associated with that lifeboat.

Welcome aboard KayW! My daughter will be 7 when we are on the cruise...she too can't wait to try the clubs...but, we haven't told her we are going yet, trying to keep it a secret a little longer! Perhaps our daughters would enjoy playing together...

My mom keeps bugging me to post on here to ask about the Fish extender exchange thing because she wants to do it for all my nieces going (4 little girls). Do you need to sign up somewhere on these forums so people know your going to be participating and so people will know ages of kids you have or is it just a given if you have a one of the decorated things hanging from the fish? Any information would be great because I have only read about it briefly and my mom thinks its a great idea and really wants to do it.

BTW cant wait for the cruise its coming up faster then i expeced :)

Thanks

They'll have a blast!!! DD knows we are going. We asked her if she wanted to go back to Disney or go on the cruise. After seeing the video she instantly said "Cruise!"

We got our confirmation paperwork this past week. No room number, but we do know it is Cat 9A.

Can't wait!

Hi KayW and erinsmom -

Looks like we all have girls around the same age, my DD will turn 7 a month before the cruise, my other DD will be almost 5. They also know we're going, I can't keep secrets. I asked my oldest and she said she'd rather go on the cruise than go to WDW again (we were there last year). It's going to be so much fun!!

For the Fish Extender Exchange, someone will usually start a list on the cruise meets thread here for anyone wanting to do it. I did it once, and I'll do it for this cruise as well, really fun coming back to the stateroom and seeing neat things people made and got.

I'll organize it if everyone wants to do it or if anyone wants to help organize it PM me.

Just returned from the Transatlantic cruise which was great. While onboard we booked this cruise on the Dream. This will be our 10th DCL cruise and the first on another ship besides the Magic. It is also the cruise that makes us Platnium Castaway Club members. :woohoo:

We are looking forward to the new ship and I might even try out the water slide! The big chicken that I am! :scared:
