I have to confess that my one and only experience with tendering was awful, it was in Grand Cayman 2 years ago, a storm was coming in, and instead of leaving at 6:00 p.m., we were told in the morning that we would leave by 2:00 p.m., we were one of the last tender to come back (we were on a Disney excursion) and by the time we got to the ship, the waves were so bad, that they had to physically grab each person, and basically throw them from tender to ship, my DH was aboard and was watching us get on, he actually started worrying that we would not make it. Apparently that happened on one of the Royal Caribbean ship. I am sure St. Thomas will be just fine.

Good Morning All,

I don't know about anyone else but I am already on vacation mode. We leave on a "red-eye" on the 9th and I'm ready now. I have my boxes packed to be shipped this Friday. The are full of wedding stuff and food items so that we can prepare some meals. The winery that I got our champagene at had these great shipper boxes so we are checking 3 cases as lugage. I told the boys that they could only pack one bag so that they can check a box. I knew that I wouldn't be able to ask the girls to do that. I'm having a hard enough time fitting all of my stuff into 2 bags.

I haven't been to Home Depo yet and I'm not sure what I am looking for. I know that I need to go to the paint section. From there, what am I looking for? Is it plastic? Is it paper? Is it a cut out Mickey head?

Jeff and I will post a picture sometime this weekend.

Sue, Christine & Lisa thank you so much for all of your infomation and hard work.

Debbie:

Go to the paint section (ours in the front in the middle of the store). There will be a display of paint chips in a rack. You'll find them there.

:)

He, I am moving your way, it is only 15 in Ithaca.....

I just came back from Home Depot! I hit the jackpot! I grabbed a bunch of Alien green:thumbsup2 and a few other colors too- my kids are into "craft projects" They can each make a sign for our door!

I am not sure if you any Dollar Tree stores in your area but I hit the ones here and found those self stick wall decorations. They have Mickey, Goofy, princesses, Pooh and Tinkerbell. As these stickers are removable I got them for door signs.

Mr. UPS just brought our papers! It's official.

WOW! You got your docs already?? I wasn't expecting mine for about a week. But we did book through a TA and I think she gets them and sends them on to us. It always seems more real with those papers in my hot little hands!

Which brings up another question . . . oh wise one that really helps us all out . . .

I read on a thread something about having to go to the WD Theatre to get tendering tickets (for ports we tender) to get off the ship.

Is this true?

If so, when the heck did that start? I never remember doing that on all my other cruises.

In St. Thomas, I have an independent excursion as well as the following week on Cozumel and Grand Cayman.

Do we need to check this out on the main forum? Maybe someone there will know. I guess it pertains to us now that we are tendering in St. Thomas.

I don't remember any tendering tickets on cruises either. I do remember that if you had a shore excursion you were given priority to board the tender, but you showed your excursion tickets to do that...

(FYI--I had a lapse of brain ability, and thought Charlote Amalie was in St. Martein and asked about it on the main forum. Now I can't get it off of there, LOL! Boy do I feel like a dope!:sad2: )

So they didn't dump your liquids? Hmmm. That man on saturday was so stern about it! I really hope it makes it for you... I am so bummed about not shipping mine, but $400.00 is too much to lose on a gamble!

Will I have enough time to get to walmart after the bus trip from the airport if I can get on the first one over? How much standing around can I expect at port you know between getting there and boarding. I don't want to stress my party by saying - hey see ya I'm off to walmart and think I'll miss the boat!:scared1:

Glory Anne- I will pick up water for you. How much do you want. We will be in town Friday to go to Kennedy space center.

What is this tendering you are all talking about? I have never heard of this. can someone post something or PM please. I feel left out here :)

Tendering is when the ship is anchored in the harbor, and they use a smaller boat to transport passengers to shore.
The boat used is typically is a lifeboat from the ship. At least that is how itis on RCCL. I am not positive if DCL uses a lifeboat. Can anyone else confirm?

On DCL, tendering is achieved using boats that are supplied by the port.

RCCL is the only cruiseline I've seen that uses their own boats.

OK, I have a few minutes left of prep time so I figured I would check in to see what's up...yeterday I got home and there were two pages of posts. Today I have a few minutes to check and nothing's going on....murphy's law....

My TA e-mailed me to say my docs should arrive next week. They have been printed and are coming direct from DCL. ...so excited!!

Two weeks from today my family will be heading down to Florida!!

Ok you guys. I have a secret. I wish this would be happening in week one of my cruises but I really don't like dealing with DU and judging by their slow response lately, I didn't want to leave it to them to get the details and be persistent enough to get the "right" answers that I got by using Barb.

sooooo . . .

I'm springing a vow renewal on Ed on the Thursday of our second cruise!

I really wish it would be in week one because I would invite all of you! I'm needing someone to photograph it for me (so I don't have to pay another $499 for a staff photographer) and I would feel comfortable with any of you helping me accomplish that. I'm closer to all of you than the cruise meet guys for 2/24. I've had longer to bond with all of you than them and they aren't as chatty.

If I can't hold in my secret and tell Ed, I'll let ya'll know.

Congrats Lisa! It sounds like it'll be a great memory for you guys! How long have you been married now? And we'd love to go if it were on the 1st cruise so bummer about that, but I'm sure you'll have a great time either way!
