I want to share with you the great experiences I have had dealing with Barb (inkkognito) on my second cruise reservations. She has a wonderful website at http://castawayclub.com.

Barb has handled EVERYTHING for me for the second cruise . . . securing the room, getting up at 3 AM to make my special ressies and watching the Disney site continually until another TA released the room they had put a hold on that I wanted (so that I could be in the same room on both cruises). That last feat was accomplished at midnight today!

If you ever need a TA for a future trip, I highly recommend Barb. Another plus . . . I've talked to her on the phone!!!!!

Good to know! I do like my TA, but it seems like Barb really goes above and beyond. Does she offer a discount too?

I may be insane...

My DS10 turned 10 in Sept., but some conflicts prevented us from having his party then, so we planned for tonight. AT 7:00, 9, 10y/o boys are decending on my house for a sleepover party. They will be camping in my family room (tent and all). Think of me tonight when you can go to sleep in a nice quiet house :rotfl:

We were able to book Palo & excursions on Nov. 4th and thank goodness we didn't have any problems. We have Palo brunch on Sunday at 10:30, dinner on Wednesday at 7:30 & tea on Thursday. I can't wait! I'm dieting now 1) to be able to fit in my wedding dress & 2) to be able to eat all the great food on ship. I'll probably have to come home and lose 10 lbs. again but it will be well worth it.

Let me ask your opinion, at this time we are taking the DCL bus to port but it isn't leaving till 12:30 pm. From what I read we should be there by 10 am to get on ship early or to possibly get an upgrade. We are thinking we should rent a car from Budget and drive. What do you think?

Debbie

For 2 people, the cost of renting a small car is about equal to the cost of DCL transfers (when you add the gas and tolls to the car rental!). The gain is the convenience of functioning on your time schedule.

On the above--the port doesn't open until 10 for incoming passengers. Being there right at 10 is certainly not necessary. The counters open about 10:30 for check in and boarding starts about 11:45. There is always the early boarding crowd (we are in it), but after that thins, it is a smooth, continuous flow with little blips when the WDW busses arrive. So, if you get there from the bus, you won't have to stand in line long if at all.

As to your comment about possibly getting an upgrade--if the computer has landed pixie dust on your reservation, you will get that no matter what time you arrive. If you are referring to purchasing an upgrade, again those are available sporadically. The sign saying "Captain Mickey says that the ship is full and no upgrades are available" is always out, but if you ignore it and ask anyhow you may get lucky. Again, it isn't the 10:30 timing that matters--for instance, assume that you are in an 11 and that someone in a 9 bought an upgrade to a 6 when they arrived at the port at 12:30. At 12:45, you might be able to purchase an upgrade to their 9. However, if you had checked in 10 minutes before they did, you might have been told that there were no upgrades available.

If you choose to rent a car---with 2 adults, the easiest thing is to drop the luggage at the port and then send one adult to the check in line while the other drops the car. There is a free shuttle from the car place back to the port, but it can fill up! If it is full, you have to wait for the next one. The key is that one person with no luggage can almost always get on, while a group with luggage is more likely to have to wait. Also, the person at the port is moving up in the line and possibly clearing the check in process. In that case, they will check in the missing person, but will hold her KTTW card until she shows up and presents her ID to the CM. You don't have to stand in line again to do this--just wait till that same CM finishes with her current guest and she will recognize you and do a 3 second ID check and hand over the KTTW.

Just think in 11 weeks at this exact moment we will be ready to hear the magical announcement we are starting to board people with #2, (of course we will all have #2 boarding number).
It is windy and blustery here, and it is really nice to dream.

That sounds soooo nice. The boys have all left, and my house is nice and calm... It's very windy today, so we will go get our Christmas tree tomorrow. It's a nice day to sit and dream about the cruise.

Do any of you know if you can use the rainforest room if you have a spa treatment, or if it is a totally separate thing? A friend of mine thought she read somewhere that you can use it after a treatment. Just curious.

Yes, you can use the the rainforest room after a treatment and it truly is a treat, a nice place to relax, on my last cruise a few of us, I think 5 women decided spur of the moment to treat ourselves to the rainforest room, and all met there, it was a lot of fun, we tried all the different steam room and saunas, great place to meet with friends and just talk, if I remember well we did it on Thursday during a sea day.
On our last cruise we had just planned to meet on the first day so that we would recognize each other, a few of us actually met in the terminar, and then we just kept running each other, which was a lot of fun, we would sit together and enjoy the sun, run each other having a drink by the adult pool. It really added to the cruise to have people that we "knew" all over the ship. I also was very nice for the kids.

Is there 1 room shared by men and women, or one for each? I was thinking of having DH meet me there after my treatment. Do you know how much he'd have to pay?

The room is shared with men and women, if I remember well we paid $15, and it was worth, it is a nice break, they give you nice robe and have nice shampoo and such in the locker room.

My son has been sick with colds on and off the past couple of weeks so my time on here has been scarce. And since the excursions for the Med cruises are supposed to be out sometime very soon I've been checking for info on that a lot (we're on the 7/18 sailing if anyone here is going).

I saw a few posts about the boarding process and I was wondering how this works exactly. On our last Disney cruise we were literally the first ones on board the ship because we were concierge guests, even ahead of a Make A Wish family (which we felt terrible about and told DCL we wanted them to go first). Other cruises we've taken on Celebrity, Princess, and RCCL we've always been in a suite so again we boarded first. But how will this work with DCL since someone mentioned that we're all in the early boarding crowd? Is that cause we're CC? We're going to FL on 2/14 so we'll be at the port early, but not quite sure how early yet.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

If you are in a suite you will get a #1 boarding pass and get to board first, if you are in a regular state room, you will receive a boarding # as you enter the terminal, the earlier you get there, the better your number will be, I believe that the terminal opens between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 so if you get there at that point you probably will get a 3 or 4, boarding is called by number. Form what I have read, with this new system it does work fairly quickly, last time we cruised on DCL was still when we were lining up to wait to board, so 1 of us would always hold our spot in line, I guess this will give us more freedom to move around together.

Who gets # 2 then if the suites are #1 and people arriving when the terminal opens gets a 3 or 4? My guess is we won't get there that early since we have all the stuff we wanted booked so there's not much of a reason to arrive then. Last time we were super early cause the towncar service we hired called us the day before to ask if we would do an earlier pickup because they had to add an airport run. We agreed since we had to be packed up and checked out of our WDW resort by 11 anyway. This time though we might rent a car instead so if we do then we'll probably just leave our hotel at check out time and drive to the ship.

I just had to move us up. Do you all realize that this Saturday we are at 10 weeks to our cruise :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
Now that is an exciting moment........

Hey everyone! Writing to you from Washington DC this week!

Here's my first photo -- its a nighttime photo of the newly opened Marine Corp Museum (ribbon cutting by the President on 11/10/2006). We ventured to Quantico, VA to pick up my son to eat dinner. Tomorrow is our major sightseeing day with a photo safari of the monuments! I can't wait!

What a stunning photo, Lisa.
Enjoy your visit with your son.

OH MY GOODNESS! That reminded me that as of today I only have 9 weeks till our wedding. I need to get the lose ends tied up.

We are having our reception dinner at the "Blue Zoo" at the Dolphin resort. Has anyone ever dined there and what did you think?

Boarding numbers are handed out in the order that you checked in at the port with the exception that suites are all #1. The number system lets you roam around the terminal without having to stand in line...you can do kid activity check in, etc. It goes rather smoothly.

You can use the rainforest on the same day as a spa treatment for a discounted rate. Normal rate is $15 for a single day pass....I believe it was $8 after a "hands on" spa treatment. Right about now, a trip to the rainforest sounds really good!
