February 17, 2007

I just looked at my ticker. Do you think we will will go into a days count in a day or so!!?!:yay:
My family gets on a plane 4 weeks from tomorrow!!!

Sue we're with you in arriving on the 14th. We'll be at AKL in the days before the cruise, eating breakfast at Boma on the 17th and then driving to the port!

We arrive on the 13th coming from San Diego. I feel kind of guilty since you are all coming from such freezing weather!

I read somewhere someone is bathing suit shopping- even in SD I can't find suits where are you shopping?

Welcome to the newest members. We also have a 14 year old duaghter. Have her check out our kids thread to get connected.

Lots of new faces! Welcome to all the new group members!!!

Someone posted they checked their ressies today for their 2/10 cruise and has been upgraded.

Good luck to all of our group in hopes that someone/some of us is/are showered with lots of pixie dust. Within a week, we should start getting rooms assigned (for those that aren't assigned yet) and free upgrades found out. This is my . . . ummmmmmmm . . . fourth, I think, DCL and in the first three, we weren't upgraded. I don't really think I'll be upgraded this time either since we have two rooms on cruise week 1 and I'm doing a back to back however . . . I won't turn down an upgrade if offered.

I would love an upgrade!! ...but it would be a huge surprise because the ship is full and we have connecting rooms. A little pixie dust never hurts though! pixiedust:

We also would love an upgrade, but certainly not counting on it.
Bathing suits, we found them at Target, they had quite a few, and the girls had a blast trying them on, especially small bikinis that would make their dad absolutely nuts.......
It is freezing here 1 degree this morning, but at least we are getting some snow, so we should be able to go skiing.
We are also leaving on the 14 in the evening but no arriving until the 16, we are taking the autotrain from Washington on the 15.

Good Morning All,

Welcome to the new 2/17 cruisers. I can't wait for warm weather again. This California Girl is freezing. I do hear that we will be in the 60's on Thursday and Friday and that will definatly get me in the mood to start packing. My soon to be DH has informed me that his weekends before we leave are going to be filled with duck hunting. You all know what that means!!!!! It's a good thing he gave me a great wedding present or I'd have to rethink what I'm getting myself into.

Does anyone have more ideas about lime green items? Are we going to try and post pictures before we cruise? Seeing faces would be great.

Have a good day,

Sue - sorry to sound dumb, but does PM mean you want to post info here?

PM is a Private Message. If you click on Sue's name to the left of a post she has made, it gives you the choice to send her a private message.

Thanks Lisa, I figured it meant somehting like that, just was not sure how to do it.

Looks like you are another Louisianan escaping Mardi Grasi. I live in Luling and I am originally from Houma.

Question for you experienced cruisers. We are on late dinner seating, I thought I read that our dinner time was 8:15, but not I can't find where I read that. My question does anyone know what our dinner rotation would be? I really don't want to do the whole formal clothes thing but I am afraid formal night would fall on the night at Lumiere's with the light change.

I am also trying to get to 6 posts at I can't PM Sue until I reach 6.

Yep -- caught me redhanded!!! Ever since the first time we cruised for Mardi Gras, I've been hooked leaving the area. I do enjoy MG but I'm getting older and preferring to get out of dodge instead.

Are ya'll driving or flying? We're flying out of New Orleans Friday evening after Courtney and Kelli are out of school. The two girls are flying back home on the 24th to go back to school while Ed and I are staying on the ship for a 2nd week of fun!

We are flying out duing the day Friday as the 7pm flight was already booked when we booked back in October.

Lisa- I just watched the news. Is it cold where you live? They mentioned freezing rain in LA.
I wish I had your talent with a camera. It is absolutely beautiful here today. Ice has totally covered the trees, and it is bright blue and sunny. It's almost like living in a world made of crystal. Except for the fact that it is 10 degrees (-15 with the wind!).

I am starting to get really excited (and I didn't think that was possible, LOL). 4 weeks from now I will be boarding a plane at this time!

Is it time to start packing yet????
I am starting to put things aside, and of course as usual my family thinks I am nuts......
I wonder if they do anything for Mardi Gras on the cruise, do you know Lisa?

There has been some wintery mix in the rain throughout most of Louisiana but down south where Vivian and I both are, we've just have very cold rain.

The low here this morning, locally, was 33 degrees. We're up to a whopping 40 degrees which is still below our average temp for this time of year.

There were interstates closed in the northern areas of the state and icing was a problem last night but we're okay -- just cold. We're not used to this stuff -- until I went to Washington, DC in December, I didn't even own a coat and now, I need it here at home!

Yesterday, I called the office and asked for them to reassign me to a basketball game that was local instead of going across the Mississippi River (having to cross overpasses and bridges enroute). I felt much safer not having to make that kind of drive.

If you want to photograph the ice -- don't try photographing the "whole" scene. Images would be most dramatic up close with something used to show the scale -- such as the palm of a hand shown next to a post that is iced over. It will show how thick the ice is. Do closeup shots. It must be beautiful but ohhhh sooooo cold!

Did you lose electricity or have you been lucky?

I was on the Mardi Gras week cruise last year too and it was only the cruisers that did things. People brought beads with them and met near the pool on Moday (since Tuesday was a port day) and handed out beads to other cruisers.

We are flying out duing the day Friday as the 7pm flight was already booked when we booked back in October.

We're booked on the 7:40 PM Southwest flight. I booked the day (9/21) they opened up bookings for 2/16. Every now and then, there are a few openings on that flight. Its easy to change tickets on the Southwest website -- no change fee either.

Which flight are you taking home? Courtney and Kelli are booked on Southwest leaving at 1:55. We're taking that same flight a week later.

We tried to book the 7:40 flight but are taking the 11:30 am flight. Coming back we are booked for 3 pm, until just this week we were going through Houston but was finally able to get a direct flight this week. That is the one thing I like about Southwest, is how easy it is to change a flight with them.
