February 17, 2007

It seems we've had an unusually cold winter this year.

..and we've had an unusually WARM one!! No snow yet, and it's January! My grass is still green. I want to see a blanket of snow! I don't want to have to drive in it, but it would be so nice on a day when we are all home. The only upside is our heating bill is much lower, and we haven't had any snow days yet, so the kids will be out of school earlier this year. (Now that I have said that we will probably have a few blizzards.)

3:00 by the Mickey pool ice cream sounds great for us! It will be nice to finally meet everyone. Should we think up a way to identify ourselves?
I am sure we won't be the only ones there, LOL.

My girls are "ice skating" on our back deck right now, everything is completely frozen over, and we keep hearing of car pile up on the news. We can't complain, it has been warm.....

The DIS color is lime green, we could all have lime green on, last time I just got some lime green rubban and tied it on all of our bags.

I think that ice is coming our way tonight and tomorrow. At least there is no school or work because of the holiday.

I have some lime green Mickey ears from Home Depot. I may use them. I don't know if my boys will put lime green on their bodies, but they may put the Mickey heads in their lanyards. I'll have to think of a label--if my creative juices dry up, I'll just put DISboard Member with my DIS name on mine.

That's right as returning cruisers we will get the lanyard, we can put the mickey head there, that would work. I actually used the lime green rubban on our bags, we each carried a bag on board or backpack, and I just tied it there.

Just back from Alyssa's trip to WDW. Good weather, low crowds -- it'll spoil me for all the crowded times we have to go on Don's teaching schedule. Thank goodness I have the cruise to look forward to and avoid the post-Disney depression. Worcester State starts on Tuesday, and I'll be pretty busy again.

OK, the first meet is scheduled for embarkation day at 3:00, at the Mickey pool, by the ice cream (Is it Scoops on the Magic?).:mickeybar :chat: :mickeybar
Try to wear something lime green if you can. I'll have my Alien Green Home Depot Mickey chip somewhere on me (probably on a lanyard).
I'll put a reminder on the info. spreadsheet so everyone has it. I have "kind of" designated Feb. 1 as the day I complete and send the sheet to everyone via e-mail (depends on how crazy life is at the time). I'll probably send out a preliminary one so everyone can check their info. I'll post here when I send it. If anyone has info to send, please get it to me ASAP. Thanks!

I've been away for awhile cause both kids have been sick. We even had to get a chest xray for Madison, which says a lot cause we never go to the dr for anything other than well baby check ups. It was clear but she was sick so long the ped thought it might have been pneumonia.

Anyway, 3pm sounds like a plan for us too. My husband is even on board with it, very surprising. Gotta feed the little one and get him in bed.

I know how you feel. My DS13 was sick too--sounds like he and Madison had a similar ailment. He was so sick for about a week with severe chest congestion and a cough.
I hope your kids are feeling better!

Thanks! I hope your guy is feeling better too. It's so hard seeing them sick and miserable when you can't do anything to make them feel better. I'm just glad the little one doesn't seem to have it as bad as my daughter did cause he's not even old enough for Benedryl which really helps Madison's nighttime cough.

We too are getting excited and talk about the cruise all the time. I am having second thoughts to going on the banana boat excursion  at CC. Having read that the water may be cold in Feb., I am thinking this may not be a great choice. The rest of the family is still up for it, so I guess I will think positive. My girls, Hannah and Olivia, are posting on the kid/teen thread, they have their own sn. That was a great idea to create a thread for them. I am mentally making a list of things to do/pick up before the trip. I want to get a picture mat for signatures and I think we will try the over the door hanger, although DH rolls his eyes at that idea. Debbie, good luck having all your wedding plans come together smoothly. I would also be stressing out.
Donna

Hi Donna,

What is the picture mat? and what over door hanger? I love info so please pass it on.

Hi, Sorry I haven't been on lately. I have been attempting for almost 1 1/2 weeks!! I was having trouble with signing on and password etc.... Disboards finally figured it out and I am back :) and my kids are too.
Sue- did I give you our state room numbers too? We finally booked our pre cruise hotel rerservations- do you want that too?
We will plan on meeting you all 3:00 at Mickey's pool? Can't believe we are so close!

Yes, I do have your stateroom numbers. I'll take the pre-cruise info though (and an e-mail address). Thanks!

I have a bit of time to catch up because we have a 2 hour school delay. Lots of icing here. The trees are so beautiful and shiny, but they are falling down everywhere. We can't see them yet, but we can hear small cracks and pops. It's really eerie. There are loads of power outages, but we only lost ours for a few hours last night. They need to get the roads cleared of branches and put salt down. Hopefully we get above freezing and the ice melts from the trees. Then tomorrow it's supposed to be in the single digits with wind chills below -25. I guess winter has decided to come here after all. I just wish it would bring some snow!

I just realized that we leave 4 weeks from tomorrow.:yay: We are heading down on Wednesday and going to Universal. I can't wait to start packing. I have just a few things to pick up. It's really coing fast now!:cool1:

We went swimming suit shopping for the kids yesterday, they had so much fun trying everything, for me it is the opposite, I hate it of course.
so I guess we are officially ready, have swim suit will cruise........

I guess I won't get as much done today as I thought. DS15 was at the bus stop when they cancelled school. I guess about 3/4 of our school district is now without power, including the high school and a few of the primary and middle schools. The wind is picking up and the temp is going down--not good for ice loaded trees. I sent the boys out to bring in a lot of firewood, be cause if we don't lose power, I'll be shocked. I just hope no trees fall on our house or power lines...
Maybe today I will get the summer clothes out and assess what will fit them. That way if they need anything, I can bring them shopping this week.
It's nice in a way to have this cold wintry weather. It makes leaving for vacation even sweeter!!

Hi Sue,

Thanks for being the organizer. I'm not sure what e-mail I gave you. Please use jeff2290@comcast.net.

Thanks

I know what you mean about cold weather. Here's hoping you don't have any major issues to deal with today. Definetly don't need that just before a vacation. Stay Warm!!! We are having a nice bright sunny day, but the temp is just above freezing. Looks nice from inside!

I see from previous posts, your DS13 has been sick, how he is feeling better. He was wondering why your DS13 hadn't responsed to his note yet on the kids thread.

Since we are leaving early too. We are only 28 DAYS until we get on the plane for warmer weather!!!:cool1: :cheer2: :beach:
