February 13, 2011 - 7 Night Mexican Riviera Sailing on the Wonder

Just booked our Palo dinner on Valentine's day, plus brunch, high tea, and the whale watch excursion in Cabo. Not sure if we'll do any other excursions or just wander about by ourselves.

Sure makes it seem closer when you can start filling in dates and times!

Hi Skylynx,
Just saw your posting today. I'm subscribed to this thread but I havn't been getting emails when people post to it :confused3 We booked our Palo dinner for Day 4. We also booked the Palo Brunch on Day 3 and the Palo High Tea on Day 7. I'm really looking forward to the Brunch and Tea because all the information I have seen on the DIS Boards has been very positive and if it is anything like the dinners, which we have done several times in the past, the food should be incredible. Have you done the Brunch or Tea before? We are splurging for the 1st time and getting a couples massage on Day 2 - thought it would be a great way to relax and start our cruise. It certainly isn't an inexpensive splurge, but I have been wanting to do this since our 1st cruise and just decided that this would be the cruise to do it on. We are also doing the Cabo Dolphin Encounter on Day 6. We did the Sea Lion Excursionon on our last 3-Day Bahamas cruise and loved it. The sea lions were so cute and the pictures we purchased were great. I thought we would try the Dolphin Encounter this time since we had such a great experience with the Sea Lions. Except for Day 5, we have something booked each day of the cruise except for the day we set sail and the day we return. I like having something special to look forward to each day. I'm so excited about this cruise. With the busy schedules and stress of the holiday season, I know I will really need the rest and relaxation. Do you know if the increased cost for the Palo Dinner, Brunch and High Tea that becomes effective in January, will affect our reservations? Since we booked these reservations before the price increase goes into effect, maybe it won't be applicable to us. If it is, at least it isn't an astronomical price increase.

I wonder how full the ship is now that we are only about 2 1/2 months out? With all the scary things happening lately in Mexico, I wonder if people are avoiding the Mexican Cruises. If the ship isn't full to capacity there might be options to upgrade available on Port Day. We are going to ask - can't hurt. If the ship isn't completely full, they may have discounts for upgrading. I would be willing to do it if the upgrade cost isn't too much. Right now, we have a Deluxe Inside Stateroom (Category 10A) but I would love to have a room with a view or a balcony room if the cost wasn't too much. We have never had anything but a Standard or Deluxe Standard Room and it would be great to finally get something a little better.

If you are still interesed in getting assigned to the same table for dinner, we received our OFFICIAL Disney Letter in October and we have been assigned to the 8:30 p.m. Dining Time. You mentioned that one of us could contact Disney closer to the sail day and ask for the table assignment to be linked to our Reservation #s. Probably contacting them in late January would be OK. Just let me know before then.

Please add us to the fish extender list as well, we are getting excited about the cruise. February will be here before we know it. We are staying at the HOJO a couple of nights before and the night after the cruise. Thinking about a limo for transfers to surprise the kids, for our family of 5 it wouldn't be much more than a shuttle or a cab.

Does anyone know who is leading the charge with fish extendors? Still looking for transportation for Lax to the Hotel and then to the port.

Hello fellow cruisers,

Just checking back in. Getting pretty excited over here!

PurpleJewel, since you are the first poster do you have the ability to update your first post with a sort of roll call of everyone? Name, room #'s, fish extenders list etc?

I am hoping that one of the Jan Mex. Riv. cruisers posts the daily Navigator scans...Please PM me if someone finds it...

I don't know of any way to go back and update a post - sorry:sad1:, I would gladly do it if I knew how. Glad to know there are others out there that are getting excited about this cruise. I also hope someone from the January Mexican Riv. cruises posts a Daily Navigator - I would love to see the itinerary, i.e., listing of shows, special functions, etc. I will keep my eye out and be sure to let you know if I see anyone on the DIS Boards that has posted one.

Can't you just go back and hit EDIT to add a roll call to the first post?
Check out the 2/20 cruise meet...they have everyone listed there...looks good...:hippie:

I have no idea what I am doing, but I am happy to start something and see where it goes

Did I do it right? Send me a message with your informaiton and I will add that to the list

Getting pretty excited about this upcoming trip...Santa Claus came early to our house and brought me a contract extension on my job until at least April!

Our waitlist at DVC came through, so we get to spend both nights pre-cruise at the Grand Californian villas, with the Saturday before at Disneyland. We opted to skip the whole rental car deal and will take the Disneyland Express shuttle from LAX...not sure it would be cheaper for a large family, but it sure is for the two of us...We also just bit the bullet and paid for Disney transport to the port from the Grand Californian and back to LAX from the port. It cost less than I thought and eliminated all the hassle of the car rental and parking fees. We always go that route at Canaveral, but it's not so easy on the west coast.

It's cold and snowy here in Chicagoland, and we're already dreaming of our cruise and lying around on various horizontal surfaces on board, snoozing!

Hope I didn't "step on your toes" by adding a complete Roll Call list to my posting at the beginning of this Cruise Meet. I was asked earlier to do it and I finally found the time. Even though I will not be participating in the Fish Extender because I will be cruising without my kids, I will be happy to add room numbers, corrections, updates, etc. to the Roll Call List.

We are still GTY, but will add out room number when we get it.

Please add our friends:

Flores: 2 adults, 6 girl, 10 boy, room # to follow, FE

Thank you!

No worries, I am just glad to see a list started, just one correction there are 4 adults and 4 kids, ages are good and room numbers too!

We have never been apart of the fish extender process, so we are excited, for the kids of course. :goodvibes I assume that as we get closer someone will clue us in as to what we should be bringing and how the whole thing works, yes?

Made the change!:thumbsup2 I have never participated in the Fish Extenders or I would explain it to you, but it sounds like fun from what I have read on the DIS Boards and I will probably be participating in it when I take my daughters on their 1st Disney Cruise in November of 2011 on the "DREAM".

Thanks for collecting all the information Purplejewel :)

We got our cabin assigned sometime in the last few days - 2040. Still debating if we should try upgrading at the port or not.

I just added your room # to the Main List :thumbsup2 We will upgrade at the port if is isn't too expensive. We have never done it before so we really don't know how expensive an upgrade will be but we will check it out to see and make our decision based on the cost. Can't wait until the cruise. Sun, pools, great food (and lots of it), fine entertainment and best of all "away from work!".

hi, I came over to your meet group to see where folks were flying into....as my plans just changed from driving to flying.

I see lots of questions being asked about where to stay and how to get to DL area. The disneyland section of this website has lots of info.

lots of folks LOVE howard johnson's, walking distance (aka HOJO) and a great kid pool area. They give AP rates and entertainmentn book rates. About a 7 minute walk.

Disney Resort Express, owned by Grayline, has a bus service to Anaheim area from SNA and LAX....RT prices from the web if pre-bought for famiy of 5 run like 99 bucks or so. There are coupons on the Orange County Chamber of Commerce site for 5 bucks off if you don't pre-purchase.

I used American Limo on one trip where we had 6 folks and arrived too late for the Express bus...120 one-way and I paid 20 more for a grocery store stop. It was less t han SuperShuttle would have been from LAX to Embassy Suites.

Anyway, visit the disneyland area of the site, all kinds of reviews of hotels and a fantastic FAQ area about the area at the very top of the first page.

I am headed on the Wonder in 27 days!!!:banana::banana::banana:

Karen, thanks for the information. There are 8 of us flying into LAX on 2/11 and we still have not yet booked our transportation from the airport to the hotel (Dessert inn, if I recall correctly), from the hotel to port and the port back to LAX. I got a quote for everything at $580.00 for everything, seems a bit high, but I will check the threads you mention. Thanks again.

Shawn

Do you know if anyone in your group has plans to scan and upload the daily Navigators? Many of us are anxiously awaiting their arrival!

Have a blast!princess:

Can someone post this thread to the 2/13/2011 7-night Mexican Riviera Sailing on the Wonder? Thank you!:flower3:

Just got back a week ago from a 3-day Bahama cruise (1/21/10) and have already booked this cruise. I'm so excited:cheer2:. The 3-day cruises are never long enough. The 7-day cruises are just the right amount of time to acclimate, relax and enjoy. Anyone else out there booked this cruise yet?

I have been asked to add a roll call to my posting showing all the Disers who will be on the Wonder 2/13/2011 Cruise to the Mexican Riviera - those with FE beside their names have indicated in their postings that they are participating in the Fish Extenders - please PM me with any changes or add a post to the board. I apologize if I got any information incorrect.
