February 13, 2011 - 7 Night Mexican Riviera Sailing on the Wonder

I will assume that as we get closer to our sail date, more will join the group. We have never done with FE, but have seen them all over the boat. How does the whole FE thing work?

Hi Everyone!

I will be joining you all on this sailing. I am new to this board but this will be my 4th Disney cruise. I am traveling with DH, DS (5) and DD(3). I am looking forward to introducing my little ones to Disney since they already love cruise and they are really into Mickey right now. Hope the airfares com down soon so I can book.

We are booked.:yay: My DH and I are crashing our DC cruise:rotfl2:. Yes I am related to jeanneg4of4 :woohoo:.I can't wait to see them. DH and I will also be celebrating our :hug:Wedding Anniversary. We were originaly booked for the 2-13 Dream cruise. I have sailed 3 times on DCL hope to make it 4 by the end of the year :rolleyes1. I have done 3, 4 and 7 night but never out of Los Angeles. I see a trip to :worship:DL in my near future. I am interested in participating in the FE also. I guess I will have to change my countdown clock to the Wonder.

We are booked also for Feb. 13th Sailing, will be spending a few days at Disneyland prior to the cruise. This is our third cruise and first on DCL, and our 3 years old daughter's very first cruise. Can't wait you meet you guys all onboard. :cool1::dance3:

Hi Monica. Thank you for offering advices. I want to know what kind of excursion you would recommend with a 3 years old. We were looking at a half day excursion that includes city tour and some type of cultural show at Aztec Theater? What do you think? And what is a must see in Mazatlan?

Just ordered one on ebay!!!!!!!!!!
I don't want to miss anyone so if you are going to get one, please post here so I know how much goodies to get.

We will also be doing a few days pre or post cruise and i was wondering where you will be staying?

Hi Everyone! I'm almost postive we're going to be one this cruise :yay: What a deal with kids sailing for free! It will be the second cruise for me (Tania) , DH (Adam) and DS Jet (6), (never did finish that first trip report though). I'm excited to see there's already a bunch of kids Jet's age :) Assuming all goes as planned I'd love to get invoved with the FE's especially since it's during valentines day, but someone will have to explain how it all works :rotfl:

I'm not sure where we'll be staying pre/post cruise. Usually we rent a car and stay in Anaheim, but finding something closer to port, or transportation to and from...I'm at a loss

Hi, everyone

We just jumped ship from the November 6 Magic Eastern to this cruise due to job change. We are psyched, because this will be our 12th Disney Cruise but the first to the Mexican Riviera, and our first out of California. Since it will sail over Valentine's Day and travel to the ports the old Pacific Princess of TV Love Boat fame sailed, we're calling it our "Love Boat" cruise.

We're leaving the kids at home for this one ;-)

Ok thats weird I thought I posted here already? I am Jeanne4of4's cousin and my husband and I are giving up the DREAM 2-13 sailing to hijack their cruise:rotfl2: I managed to squeeze in a dateaversary sailing in 19 days on the wonder and am soooooo excited:cool1:. We will celebrate our Anniversary in the Mexican Riveira with my WONDERFUL cousins:banana:. Let me know when you kick off the FE list I'm in:thumbsup2.

OK I found my post it was on page 2 which I thought I looked at DUH. Thought I was in the twilight zone for a minute.....

So we have decided to do a few days prior to the curise at disneyland, as much as I would love to stay at one of their properties, for 2.5 days it just doesn't make sense. I am looking for a little help as to where to stay that is close to disneyland (walking distance would be great), clean and is very kid friendly. there are so many "good neighbor" hotels listed, but I no idea which to even consider. I have a few other questions, but will ask those later. thanks for your help.

Hey there, Smbertram. I just started a thread on this you might want to follow...it's where I "bumped into" doombuggy. She joined this thread before me, so I hadn't seen her name there before. Sorry to mislead, doombuggy!

I had a friend who went on the Panama cruise a while back and there were enough Disboarders with similar pre-and post-cruise Disneyland itineraries that they were able to arrange all sorts of ride shares and I think even a whole chartered bus to the port!

Just to sum up what I wrote on that thread...the last thing we want to do after one night pre cruise at the Grand Californian Villas and 7 nights on the Wonder is finish off the trip in some creepy Katella or Harbour Blvd hotel where people run around yelling all night long but that still costs over $100. I know there have to be some decent places out there...don't need to be new or fancy, just clean and safe and not criminally overpriced. I scared myself by reading the TripAdvisor reviews...even places with $150 per night range rooms were drawing more than a few awful reports. Disneyland hotel is currently booking at $330 a night...not willing to go to that expense. So we're hunting for an option in between!

It looks like air with decent times on the 20th is more expensive to leave that day so I think we will do DL post cruise instead. We will do one night precruise at doubletree for free shuttle, then wonder then 3-4 nights post cruise (like skylynx) Still trying to figure out accomodations post cruise but would rather not have to rent a car. There are many good neighboor hotels and it's really hard to choose from. I'd like something with a free breakfast. Let me know what everyone is choosing. Has anyone booked air yet?

We fly Southwest all the time out of Chicago Midway, and Southwest opens their fare window for Jan-March on August 17 (Tuesday). So we'll know our flight options then.

So many combinations are possible with free shuttles to/from airport from some hotels, justifying the higher prices (as long as they are reliable). It will be a puzzle, for sure.

Skylynx, which airport will you be flying into? More options for us to choose from again. I'm really looking forward to this trip!

From Chicago Midway, we can take Southwest to LAX, SNA (John Wayne Orange County) and, if pressed, Ontario or Burbank (though those are a bit further). Fares for us are usually higher at SNA than LAX, and there are more flights to/from LAX, but SNA would be our first choice. We can also fly into one and out the other, if that works out better. It's one of the many reasons why I LUV Southwest.

Glad to know that we will not be the only adults on board without our kids. I always feel a little guilty when my DH and I take our yearly cruise to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. I would feel alot more guilty if we didn't take the kids to DisneyWorld on a regular basis. We both look forward to spending quality time together and not having to focus on anything but each other. I like your thought that this is a "Love Boat" cruise. I watched that T.V. show religiously when it was on. I'm getting very excited now that I'm talking about the cruise.:yay:

Hi, Purplejewel

We just took the kids (17 and 14) on the Wonder two weeks ago, with three days afterwards at WDW. We'll do the same thing again next summer on the Dream for DD's high school graduation. No guilt. :-) DH and I had originally booked a 7 day Magic cruise to the Eastern Caribbean in November, but when it conflicted with an assignment at work we opted to change it to the Mexican Riviera. We're really excited about the change, as we've already done the Eastern/Western and wanted to do another 7 day by ourselves. While I love our family cruises, it is also so nice to go by ourselves, too.

Everything I knew about cruising before I actually went on a cruise I learned from watching the Love Boat! We have the DVD sets and put them on every so often for a laugh. Still good entertainment if you can abide the cheese factor and the 70's fashions. Since this cruise goes to the same fabled ports and sails over Valentine's Day, it just HAD to be the Love Boat Cruise for us!

Let us know if you have second dining, and if you'd be looking for table mates. Sounds like we may be kindred spirits!

We are taking our four daughters to DisneyWorld for 7 days the 3rd week in October this year. They love celebrating Halloween at DisneyWorld. We have also already booked a 3-day Disney Cruise to the Bahamas in November of 2011 that will be our daughters 1st Disney Cruise. They are so excited even though it is still well over a year away. We decided to take them on a short cruise first to see if they enjoy it before booking a longer one with them. I'm sure they will love it though.

We have already signed up for the 2nd dining time on the cruise. We love the late seating because it gives us more time during the day to enjoy excursions and relaxing before having to go back to the cabin to get ready for dinner. The only downside is the last night of the cruise when we have to practically run back to the cabin to change and get our luggage set out in the hallway in time for pickup:) It would be great to have tablemates that are not total strangers this time. It does sound like we would probably have alot in common since our children are around the same ages and, just like us, you take vacations without the kids sometimes. Do you know how to arrange this? Is it something you have to do before the trip or something you do after you are on board?

Well, gotta go, we are taking the girls to a water park today and they don't understand why Mommy is on the computer instead of getting ready to go:)
