February 12th, 2005 Western. Who's going???

Gayl,
We had a couple inches of snow last night but it got up to 40° today so it's already all gone! :D What a bummer huh? LOL The weather people are saying it's supposed to get up to 50° this weekend but I'll believe it when I see it. I swear though, if it does get that warm, I'm digging the grill out of the shed. :teeth:

Jen,

A couple weeks ago when it warmed up for a while, I grilled a couple of our dinners. It was great! Spring is supposed to start on Saturday, so I hope the weather does warm up from now on!

Gayl:sunny:

Happy first day of spring to you too Gayl! (Although it's now the 2nd day. LOL) Too bad it's not feeling like spring here. It was super nice on Friday and has cool dramatically since then. It's a whooping 30° here right now. The weather man claims that it's supposed to get to 60° by the end of the week but I'll believe it when I see it!

Did you see the trip report posted by Queenk333 over in the trip report section? She posted pictures of her Western cruise. They are great! Besides getting to see the Magic again, I liked seeing her pictures of Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I can hardly wait to go to those places!

Gayl

Queenk333 added a written trip report for the Western cruise she went on in February. The whole trip sounded so great! I hope we have a good a time as she did!

Gayl

I just thought I'd bump us up again and say HI in the process. Spring arrived here in MN late last week and it was in the mid 60's. Only about 20° higher than our average temps at this time of year. Of course it dropped back down to normal temps for this week so everyone is complaining. LOL

And even though it's cool here, I have the end of April to look forward to because dh and I are going to Vegas for a long weekend. My mom is getting married there and we decided that we just had to go too! It should be a blast and I need the weekend with no kids. :teeth:

Jen,

Your trip to Las Vegas sounds great! My DH and I were trying to plan a trip there for Labor Day Weekend, but it got too complicated. It is difficult to take a trip without your children, isn't it? We haven't been to Las Vegas in about 10 years! One of my co-workers goes about three times a year and tells me often how I need to go back. I agree! I hope you win big there!

Gayl

Gayl,

Oh if you haven't been to Vegas in 10 years you MUST find a way to get there soon. It's just so amazing and beautiful. The hotels are just incredible. My favorites being the Venetian and Bellagio. We won't gamble a ton but plan on doing lots of people watching and site seeing. And of course there's the wonderful food. There is a yummy Dim Sum restaurant at the Mirage that I can't wait to go too. This will be my 3rd trip in 3 years and I seriously could go at least twice a year because it's so much fun. Too bad money doesn't grow on trees so that I could really do that! LOL

Jen,

I know I must find a way to get to Las Vegas! Every year, my DH and I try to plan a trip there and every year something comes up to cancel it. Oh well! When we were there 10 years ago, we stayed at Excalibur and New York, New York was just being built! My friends who are regular tavelers to Las Vegas can't believe that! Where are you staying?

Gayl

We're staying at Excalibur. I would love to stay somewhere posh but since I haven't won the lottery yet, I have to settle for that. I've stayed there before though and know what to expect so that's why we're staying there.

We liked staying at Excalibur when we went to Las Vegas. The next time we go, my DH would like to stay at Caesar's Palace. He thinks that is the ultimate casino! I actually think he liked the waitresses outfits better there than anywhere else!:teeth:

Have you gone to any shows in Vegas? We would like to see Celine Dion. My DH works for DaimlerChrysler. Since Celine Dion was in their ads last year, the company is offering a great deal to Vegas over Memorial Weekend. The cost is $799 per person which includes Celine Dion tickets. Unfortunately, we already have plans for that weekend. We are hoping DaimlerChrysler offers the trip again.

Gayl

I did see a show the last time I was there. It was called Storm and it was at Mandalay Bay. It was an incredible show and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Unfortunately they don't have it anymore. :( Oh well, I'm sure I can find something else to see. I wouldn't mind seeing Celine but I know that DH would hate that so I'm not even going to ask. I figure that will have to be a girls trip sometime. Of course I'm not even sure if I'll have time to catch a show this trip so I haven't even really researched anything yet.

Hello!

I received my Castaway Club Card yesterday! Yay!! Now I am an official member of the club!

I just wanted to share my good news with you!

:earsboy:

Gayl

Gayl,
I got mine a few weeks ago and I just couldn't help but smiling when I saw it. I want to be rich and be able to travel all the time. I need another cruise right now! It's spring break this next week for my girls and I'm just bummed that we're not going anywhere fun.
::MinnieMo

Jen,

I know what you mean about wanting to go somewhere! Even though we cruised in February, I am ready to go again (right now!). Next February seems like an eternity away!

My kids have their Spring Break the week after Easter. My DD-12 is disappointed that we aren't going anywhere. I pointed out that we went on quite a fabulous trip for their Mid-Winter Break and that we are going again next year! She doesn't realize that money doesn't grow on trees (at least for us)!

Going on a trip in February is even more special for my family because I am a CPA and being gone during tax season is a big no-no! We have never gone on a trip during tax season before! My partners in my firm were gracious enough to let me go for a week for this past cruise, but I haven't told them about next February's cruise yet!:earseek:

Have a good weekend!

Gayl

Will your DS be 10 when you cruise? It would be great if we could get the kids together before we cruise so they could know someone right off the bat. My DS will be 10 in December. We probably only live 20 minutes or so from each other.

Sheri

Sheri,

My DS will be 10 in July, so he would be a good match for your son! He had a great time with two other boys who belonged to DISers on our last cruise. A group of 12 of us sat together at dinner each night. The three boys would give our servers a hard time, eat as fast as possible and head to the Lab! It was great for the boys because they didn't have to sit through a long boring dinner and great for the rest of us because we didn't have to hear them complain! :teeth:

When we rebooked for this cruise, my DS (Ryan) was disappointed to learn that those boys wouldn't be on the cruise too. He would be happy to know that another boy his age will be going on this cruise. Maybe they could exchange e-mails if getting together is too difficult.

Gayl

Hello!

Happy Easter and Happy Spring to everyone going on the February 12, 2005 Western cruise! It is definitely looking like Spring around my house. The grass is getting green, the trees are budding and the tulips are coming up! :sunny:

Have a nice weekend!

Gayl

Gayl, my husband and I are both CPA's too (which is why I haven't had time to contribute to this thread much:D ) and fully understand your feelings about the February cruise. We were on the 2/7/04 Magic, our 2nd cruise, and have NEVER taken a trip during busy season before. We have our own practice out of our home so there is no one to take over while we are away which makes it even harder to get away!

My DSs will be 11 (twins) by the time we cruise, so will be in the Lab with your DS and Sheri's. BTW one of them is Ryan too, the other Aaron. My third, Colin, will be 8 on the cruise.

Hope your next 5 days aren't too bad. We have 3 returns not even in the door yet

Happy Easter

Michelle
