February 12th, 2005 Western. Who's going???

Hello to all, We just made our reservations today. This will be our 5th Disney Cruise. We did the Wstern last February and loved it. Hope everyones planning is going well. We leave for Florida 4 weeks from today !!!!!!

Mark

Hi Mark! Gald to here another DIS poster will be joining us. Tell us all a little about who all is in your family. I'm Jen, DH is Joe and my DD's are 11yo and 8yo.

Hi,
Welcome Mark, looks like more Michigan people heading out of town. Really cold today.

Jen, What time did you book Capt Marvins for? I would like to book with them also.

Think will take Key West on our own. In Cozumel I'm thinking about a all inclusive beach that I read about. I'm sure my dh could get our $ worth in beer.

Wendy

Hi Jen and Wendy.

Thanks for the kind welcome. We have a party of 6. MY DW Laura, DD Elizabeth (13), DS Bobby (11), and my parents. This will be our 5th Disney Cruise, Our 4th on the Magic. We did the Western on the Magic last February. Did the Eastern in 2002. We are planning on the Submarine tour in Cozumel. Can either of you give me any information on Capt. Marvins in Grand Caymen. My Wife and Daughter really want to swim with the Stingray's. Any particular time of the day as well.

Are there any DIS Board get together's planned ??

And of course, any other words of wisdom or advise !!!!

We just booked, had been planning to go on a different cruise line at Easter, but the Florida resident discount was just too tempting. Besides, a Disney Cruise is the Best !!!! We have a Cat 6 general, so we dont know our cabin numbers yet. Can't believe its only 4 weeks away.......... :jumping4:
We are driving down to Orlando, leaving on Thursday, Feb 10th. Will Spend one night at WDW, just to set the mood for the cruise.

Thanks Again

Mark

Hi Mark and everyone,

Welcome.
I will be traveing with DH(Larry), DD (Megan,9yo), DS (Matt, 7 360/365yo),
D-BIL, D-SIL, DNiece (9yo) and DNephew (7 yo).
As far as Cpt Marvins goes, try
www.captainmarvins.com
Not sure if the link came through, sorry.
We are thinking of going on the short 2hr excursion from 11:15 - 1:15.
I figure by the time we get up, get breakfast, tender over and get to their office, the middle of day time works best for us.
If your wife and daughter would like to join us, just make a reservation and we can meet up on the cruise. That's for you too Wendy and anyone else who is interested. It might be nice to have a group of us go together.
See you in 4 weeks :wave2: Anne

We're booked for the 11:15, 2 hour snorkel and stingray city tour. So where is the all inclusive beach on Cozumel and what does that cost?

Mark, we don't have anything really set up yet for a DIS meet but I think we should. And I'm going to try to get reservations for any DIS people that want to do brunch. I figure I'll start collecting names and room numbers once we all start getting docs.

Great minds think alike. Right after I posted I reserved the 11:15am - 1:15pm 2 hr snorkel and stingray tour so it looks like we will be on the same tour Jen. Anyone else joining us? I asked how booked they were for that tour in case some friends wanted to join me. Captain Marvin's reservations said they have plenty of room, so "invite your friends to join you".

Wendy, is the beach Nachi Cocom? Do they incude all drinks?
If so, it may be a really good deal for some.

That's great! It will be nice to have another DIS poster with us! Are your kids going too? My girls said there is no way they'd go so they plan on just staying in the Lab while we're gone.

Both my kids are going. My D-BIL and family probably won't go. My DS's teacher even told all of us it was a "must do" excursion. When he heard that, he said he really wanted to do it. Because of course, his teacher knows all  I've explained it to both my kids.....so, we shall see if they freak out or not :earseek: I did read that one poster's kid freaked out, tried climbing on her head and dunked her under. Therefore, I told my kids, no climbing on my head or shoulders - if you freak out climb on your dad  Seriously, I think they will be fine, but you just never know.

Hi All,

Jen-this is the link for the beach http://cozumelcruiseexcursions.com/CozumelBeachBreak.htm
For the other boards & here it is Nachi Cocom. Just seems if you book thru this site its even a better deal. You do have to pay some up front.

Left work today early & hit some sales. Picked up dress for the girls & I.

I have dd 11-shannon, dd-allison 8. dh Larry. Also traveling with df family her & dh, dd 8-Lauren, ds 10-Nicholas. I think the kids all want to see the stingrays, will see how they do. I have talked to them about it, but they will enjoy the boat & water. I'm going to get that booked this weekend.

The beach thing seems like a real good deal. I love the beach & sun. Kids, beach, pool ect. Husband loves free beer.

This cruise has ended up being a sort of retirement thing for dh. He is selling his business about the time of the cruise. Wasnt really expected just how worked out.

Soo long for now,
Wendy

Wow! Thanks for some of the info regarding what you guys are doing at some ports. I went to the Cozumel site and it looks like we will be entertaining that idea! :drinking1 Thanks for the website.

Now because we are new at this Disney Cruise thing, we were looking at other excusions to do also. Do you guys have any feedback on the Glassbottom Boat Tour on The Pride of Key West or the Atlantis Submarine Expedition on Castaway Cay? I'm pretty sure we are going to attempt the parasailing :scared1: so I'm hoping we can do that tandum so I don't die alone...LOLOLOL

Because we are from Canada, we are also flying down a day early but we wont be arriving in Orlando until suppertime the night prior. Anyone have any ideas on something to do at night for the kids, aged 7 and 10 in Orlando??

Hope this is not too many questions but as you know,....now I'm starting to get excited!! Just one more.....does everyone book these things before they arrive (like as in now?) or do you do the bookings when you arrive on the ship or get to the port of call??

Thanks guys for any input you have it is greatly appreciated!!!! :D

Wendy, I didn't realize that your girls are the same age as my dd's. We'll definately have to plan a DIS meet so they girls can meet each other before going to the Lab.

We were out clothes shopping today for Kaela our 11yo. She's outgrown ALL of her shorts since last summer. I did find one pair for her at JCPenney's but other than that, no luck. We could end up shopping in FL before the cruise. LOL And thankfully we all still fit into our formal dresses from last Feb. so I don't need those. I also did some major bargin shopping last summer for cute dresses. I got Beth (8yo) a $92 dress for only $11! You just have to love that! :D

OK, I'm off now to check out that beach.

Hi Julia,

We try to get all of our shore excursions set prior to sailing. It is one less thing to have to do once onboard. The web cam of Port Canaveral shows cloudy conditions today. Lets hope all the bad weather is out of the way for us. Last years weather in February was cold. had to wear a sweatshirt alot. The cast members said that was very unuasual, so hope for the warmth this year. We had a great enough time to come back again, that speaks volumes for the Disney Cruise Experience !!!!

We are going to try to book Capt marvins on Monday.

Mark

Sure hope it warms up before we go, but when its 10 out & the wind is blowing 24mph, it wont take much too feel warm. Its just that every weekend last summer here we had sweatshirts on. Only on Labor Day weekend they didnt come out.
Jen--My girls are looking forward to meeting yours. They are really interested in what goes on in the clubs. Have your girls done the sting ray thing & didnt like it or just rather stay in the club?

Has anyone ever done any of the beach things in Cozemel? The one seemed like a good idea. My df was wondering about the Fury Catamaran sail, snorkel& beach fury, anyone dont it or know about It?

We are coming in on the 11th & staying @ the Quality suites for the night, we will check out Ron Jon Surf Shop & the pier. Just want to relax, so I would like to get the excursions set up. Any suggestions sure are welcome

Well time for me to hit the treadmill--I'd rather be outside but at 10 not fun.

See you soon
Wendy

Hey Rifgirlsmom,
We will be going down on the 11th also and we are staying at the Quality Inn also! How old are your children?? We will be arriving there around suppertime.

Bye for now,
Julia

Julia- I have dd 11 & dd 8, we hope to be in just a bit before dinner. Our flight is due in @ 306 taking towncar 2 cocoa beach.

Does anyone think there will be anything special happening on Valentines Day? Thats about the only thing my kids are concerned with from school.LoL
Not the work they'll have.

Wendy

Wendy and others, I checked out some other reviews (not on this board) about Nachi Cocom. All were good reviews. Saw other pictures and it looks really nice. Although I am not a beer drinker like your DH, I have been known to enjoy a few, if not several, cocktails. We are putting Nachi Cocom on our possible beach list for Cozumel. Did the excursion you heard about include transportation? Found a coupon on the net for 20% off all food and beverages at Nachi Cocom. Sorry I can't help out on other suggestions for excursions, but this is our 1st time on the 7 day cruise.

Looking forward to sun and warmer weather.
Anne

Hi to Wendy and all.....

Disney has a special dinner and lots of other touches for Valentines Day. Last year I suprised my wife with a big Valentines day basket from the ships store. Your girls should not miss Valentines Day at home, with lots going on with special decorations as well. We have done a few of the excursions, if you have any questions, we will give you our opinion, for what its worth LOL.........

We found out our cabin numbers today from booking shore excursions YEAH !!!!

We are going to try the parasailing at Castaway Cay. At least if we fall and hurt ourselves, it will be at the end of the cruise.

Castaway Cay is magnificient, Disney saves the best for last.
