February 11, 2012 Eastern Caribbean on the Disney Magic***

Just booked our flights on Southwest. Not as cheap any more, but we don't
have to pay for our bags. I'm so ready for this cruise. :cool1:

I have been watching flights too. Right now the cheapest I can find is $450 each  I am hoping they will come down a little bit at least!

One good thing on this cruise though. The excursions seem to be a lot less expensive than the ones we did on the western cruise. THat just means more money for the spa and maybe a Dooney and Bourke Disney purse, right?? :cool1:

And TWO carryons EACH! And both of the 4 carryons can be the large size. I usually take one carryon that's more full, and one that's not so full, so I can stuff in my purse, hoodie, newspaper, bottle of water, etc., to go through security and boarding with only two bags ;).

Southwest has been more expensive lately. They were twice as much than American for our flight. I'm convinced they've built in their bag fees to their prices now. (partly kidding) :)

I am so glad I found this site!!! This is our first time going on a cruise! Myself, dh, dd (9 at time of cruise), and ds (just shy of 6 when on the cruise). We are going to escape the lovely Michigan weather and spend a week with no winter clothing :-) That in itself is paradise! Thanks to everyone for making me realize that we will be spending Valentine's Day on the cruise (not sure how I missed that myself)!

Welcome aboard Kelly :welcome:

1. Do we want to set a cut-off date for accepting new people into the group? And 2., what should that cut-off date be?

One of the reasons is that some of us might need a certain amount of time to prepare FE swaps.

Or we could set a date and have it just be for the FE group (not all of us are going to participate in that).

Here on the DISboards, some groups set their cut-off date to be the same as DCL's booking deadline, which is 75 days out, at or around December 3rd.

Someone else said that people wanted to join the FE group up until the last week before the cruise, but suggested cutting off the FE at 30 days out, January 11th.

I'm the newbie cruiser; but the group should decide. So please chime in here with what you think.

THANKS :):goodvibes

Hello!! Haven't checked out the boards in a while, but we can't wait to be back on the Mickey Boat :thumbsup2

Insurance - we go with insuremytrip.com

FE - A lot of people I know make personalized gifts, so they need a cutoff time to get the stuff and make the gifts for each party. I like the idea of 75 days out. Keep in mind too that some of us may not get room assignments by then right? (FTY) so those may come in later.

Getting excited!

Hi, LM! Nice to "meet" you, I am very excited too, this will be my first cruise, my dh's second (but his first was over 30 years ago so we aren't counting it lol).

Did you get my message here last week?

I didn't realize that some people might not even get their room assignments by the 75 days out deadline, is that true?

Hope to "see" more of you online, and we'll definitely meet on-board, right?!

Hi! "FTY" was a typo should have been GTY... Booking GTY means you agree to a Minimum category of stateroom (DCL can upgrade you!) but you don't get your stateroom assignment right away. I've heard of way early GTY assignments... But also much closer to cruise date (30 days?). Lots of folks don't want to book GTY because they have an exact stateroom preference. So as of now we don't have a stateroom assigned...

I sent a PM back to you earlier today, hope you got it! Also asked to be on the FB group!

Yes, we were GTY as well (we're cruising on some of our DVC points), and because we're first-time cruisers, we can't book anything until November (I think the 28th), so I just figured that we'd have our room assignment by then too, but no, we had it about a month ago, much to my surprise. I guess I wrongly figured that other GTY bookings had theirs by now too, but now I see that's not the case at all ::oopsie, sorry about that::.

Yes I got your PM, thank you! And I added you to the list :).
