February 10, 2007 7-Day Western Who's coming?

I started looking at the 10-day forecast for our ports. Don't ask me why...it will surely change by the time we arrive...I'm just a weather obsessed Minnesotan, I guess. Anything will be an improvement over the current temp of -8F, windchill -28 F.

So far,
Sunday - Key West high 74F low 67F and chance of showers (30%)
Tuesday - Grand Cayman 82F and partly cloudy
NEVER MIND...I went back to check GC's low and the whole already changed to 84% and showers (60%)

I will not be checking the weather again until Thursday. That's when we leave town.

Happy packing everybody!

I hear you on the weather! We are up to 10 degrees right now with windchills about -15, and they are already delaying schools by two hours for tomorrow because it is only going to get worst. I am so ready for some warm temperatures and sun!! I took keep looking at the 10 day forcast. We leave for Orlando early on Thurs. so I keep hoping that the cold and rain that they are having now moves out before we head down.

Laura

It's -13 celsius here with the windchill -23...brrrrrrr.... I must admit it feels a bit odd sorting through and ironing tank tops and shorts!!:)

Just a few days to go and I finally discover this message board! It could've come in handy about 16 months ago! Well, I'm excited to be here anyway. We'll be spending my birthday in Key West, traveling with DH, DD (9), DS (7), DS (4) and DD (18 months). We're in room 8516. With 4 kids it will be an adventure! I'm just hoping we survive the 4 hour flight. See ya soon!

Hi Jham - there's lots of kids the same as age as yours here so hopefully you can make it to the DIS meet b4 sailaway. Now, I've forgotten time and place - Yankeegal/Ocean b - was it Deck above adult pool at 4ish?
I'm hoping my two boys (7 and 5) will have lots of fun with the club and their new friends so that I'll be able to read at least one book!! BTW, we are just down the hall from you at 8524. MiniAnne has kids your age too and she is right near you as well.

DH and I always laugh because after a vacation we are usually spent. (him more than I) Poor DH spends hours in the pool... with one boy or another hanging off him, trying to dunk him, throwing a ball at his head etc etc etc.. If he's not entertaining us that way - he is driving us all over town.. heehee.
So maybe he has found HIS vacation?

Well, I was supposed to be pretty much backed by this day.:rolleyes1 How did this sneak up like that? Here come the late nights!

Oh and Deb... my TA reversed the ground transportation - Got almost 300 US back! That should be good for at least 20 pairs of Kino sandals!! and yes i have gotten over Saturday night!

DING DING DING...Ladies and Gentlemen we have a winner. This woman got down to four pairs of shoes!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

OMG you did it. It isn't possible to cut it down any more. No way. No how. Let's see, have I made it down to four yet????

Nope, sorry I've gotten it down to 3 pair of shoes!:lmao: Wearing my tennis shoes, taking black sandles that I will wear with my black pants each night and on formal and semi-formal night and a pair of flip flop style sandles to wear walking around on deck.

Welcome Jham! My birthday is on the 11th also! We're all meeting after the life boat drill on the deck right above the adult pool so everyone can meet. Works great if the kids get to meet some other kids before they go to the clubs. Hope to see you there.

I'm in awe. Way to go! And I am not really a shoe-aholic. In fact, I don't own that many shoes. It's just that I can't seem to get less than five pairs going--shoes to work out in (and wear at WDW after the cruise), dress sandals for dinner, flip-flops for the beach and poolside, sandals during the day....OK and I'm bringing an extra pair of semi-dressy sandals for dinner. Plus I'm wearing closed toe shoes on the plane. And I want to check out Kino sandals in Key West!!! I justify it this way--most of them are sandals and don't take up that much room!!!:rotfl:

Sounds like my husband's (and my) usual vacation activities. Conor's an only child, so we can't tell him to go play with his brother/sister! He LOVED the clubs last cruise. We had to go drag him out to spend some time with him!!:rotfl: So, hopefully you'll get your book read and your husband can relax too!!

Good news about the refund!! Maybe I'll see you in Kinos!!

Tell me about the Kino sandles. I've never heard of them. Last cruise my 2 DDs brought one whole suitcase with nothing but shoes.

Here's the link to their website. I heard about them while researching Key West and read a lot of raves about their sandals on one of the other cruise boards. Although I also heard a couple people pipe up and say they just didn't get what everyone thought was so great about these sandals. Others loved them--said they were very comfortable and you can't beat the $10 price tag!

I have enjoyed reading through some of the pages of your posts so I feel like I know you a bit already. Don't know if I can get through all 45 pages by Thursday though! My kids are excited to meet some kids their age, especially DD Jayden who will be 9 1/2 on the 18th. Your posts make me laugh, especially the ones about packing. I was so proud to be done on Saturday but then realized all the things I left out. With 6 people on the trip and only myself and DH really able to haul any luggage (and a stroller and a car seat to lug around), I'm trying to keep it to 4 suitcases and one smaller bag, but I've realized I now have to reduce and repack and buy another bag just for shoes. I'll definitely be in the laundry room. My daughters cant keep their clothes clean for 5 minutes--you'd think it would be the boys! Back to packing!

Welcome aboard . . . We have a great bunch of people on these boards! Where are you from?

I can relate to the girls not staying clean!! DD has always been worse than my son. I don't understand it. To this day, she is almost 11 and still can not eat anything with ketsup without getting it all over herself!!

Good luck on cutting back with the packing . . . I am about 85% done and have 3 1/2 suitcases packed so far . . . . I may have to break down and pack that fifth one . . . Not sure when this is going to get done. . . just got done with DS school conference, waiting for dinner to get done, then we are off to sign DH up for middle school. . . the rest of the week is crazy. The goal is to be packed and have the house clean by Wed so Thurs night can be a night of relaxing . . . yea - who am I kidding . .. :)

Wow - these look nice for $10. . . .where is the shop? I feel the need for new sandles . . . :cool1: So does anyone know anyone who has bought some? Are they comfortable? do that have any support, or are they just flat? I know who cares about comfort when they look good, but I gave that up years ago . . . now they have to look good and feel great! What about sizes . . .do they go up to 11? with each child, I went up a size in shoes . . . Told DH we had to stop at 2! I wasn't going up to a size 12 in shoes!! :rotfl2:

Ok - I am impressed! I can't even get my kids down past four!!!

Does anyone plan on doing the pin trading while on board? The kids did it last time we were at WDW and loved it. . . . not sure if I want to mess with it this time around . . . .

OK as we will be in Key West on Sunday is Kinos open? My DW thinks they look cool. Woody

We will be there! DH, myself and our 2 kiddos, DS age 4 and DD age 1. Along with friends from 2 other states and 3 other kiddos (6, 4 & turning 4 on board.)

Yep, Our girls are planning to do a little pin trading. They have collected pins over the years at the parks but have never really traded before.
