February 03 2007 Eastern

Rick, first of all...WELCOME ABOARD!!! DH and I cruised at the end of January and just had to rebook another cruise while onbaord. We enjoyed the eastern cruise so much that we chose this cruise next year. We fell in love with St. Thomas and cannot wait until we get back there. I planned the first cruise with DH not knowing anything about the cruise. Consequently, he had no idea what to expect. By day two, he was hooked! His favorite spot is Deck 4, near an ashtray, reading a book. He also loved the Cove Cafe and we spent alot of time at the adult pool area. We rebooked stateroom 6634 because it is formerly a cat. 6, but because the obstructed view (not much of an obstruction) you pay a cat. 7 price. We look forward to getting to know you! We had a wonderful DIS group this year and I know next year we will have another great group.

Again, welcome aboard!!!

Count myself & my DW in as well! We just got off the Wonder yesterday (our first cruise), and while we were on there we booked the 2/3/07 Eastern! We can't wait! We have young children, but we are reserving the cruising for just the adults - at least at this point in life! Looking forward to planning this one! :)

HEY GANG: Count DH & I in also. We were on the Wonder in Feb 2006 and loved it sooo much we re-booked the MAGIC for 02/03/2007!!!
I am so glad there is already a THREAD started for this cruise. Hoping to get to meet all of you.
Our FIRST ever cruise was in Feb and we met so many nice people. We were so thrilled by the entire cruising adventure. We are on Deck 7!!! We were able to get the exact same cabin 7556 as we did on the Wonder. Stop by anytime and give us a holler. It will be DH (52) and me (52)!!!! We have selected second seating for dinner.
COUNTING THE DAYS.

Lots of new arrivals, it is truly a magical experience. We are sailing in 37 days.
Look forward to getting to know everybody

John :cool1:

Hey John, it looks like our ship is starting to fill up!!! This is starting to get exciting now. I was all bummed out because I was missing my previous DIS friends and now we are getting new ones. The DIS board is a wonderful thing!

It's had to change groups . . . . Like changing schools . . . .

I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone in our group. It's fun to see it build slowly, then take off as we get closer. On my old group, we were going at a pace of 5-6 pages per day near the end . . . .

I've been trying to sell friends and co-workers on DCL in hopes of adding to our group. I wish I could get a commission from DCL . . .

Happy Wednesday . . .

Here's a quick picture to get everyone in the mood . . .

Hello Everyone,

So glad to have found this thread! We just booked last week - it will be DH, DD (who will be 3) and DS (who will be 23 months). I found this forum last year before our first family trip to WDW and have decided nobody knows family like Disney :) DH isn't what you'd call a Disney fan, but he was more than impressed with our vacation last year that I managed to convince him to go cruising - something he vowed never to do. I've been on two cruises, the first was 1999 - RCCL - amazing time. The second was with Sunquest vacations on the Sunbird in 2001 - actually an old RCCL ship - it was a "bargain" ship and I learned my lesson there. I am really hoping that Disney lives up to it's reputation - I know I'll love it, but I want to make sure DH had a great time as I'd love to make this an annual event :teeth:

I'm sure I'll have a thousand questions for you veteran cruisers - and I look forward to meeting you on the ship.

My first few questions - I'll ask here first to see if one of you guys can help me.

Should I be booking Palo reservations now or on the ship?

Can I request the restaurant rotation order?

We're a family of four - they didn't ask if we'd like to sit with anyone or by ourselves (they asked on my previous two cruises) - do you know how it works on Disney?

When I booked (through vacationstogo - btw, we paid $1058 USD per adult for a cat 11 room - the kids were less...altogether for the two adults and two under 3 it was just over $2900 for the cruise/port/taxes - is this comparable...it's 100% fully refundable until 90 days pre-cruise so if there are better deals out there I'd love to hear them)

Okay that's it for now...going to start reading some of the threads!

(Did I mention I'm sooo excited )

:cool1:

Sounds like a good price to me, we paid 2350 for 2the both of us for a cat 8 a little more for the 2/10 cruise. We've been very busy with trials & tribulations the past six weeks and the time has slipped by, hard to believe it's ten months and 2 weeks. DD broke her neck in three places skiing 1/28 Dad went into the hospital and now is in rehab, 86 and not doing great. Thank God the DD is doing well, we see the specialist this Thursday, she's been in a fancy collar that is attached to a body brace. I'm really worn out, baby sitting her everyday while SIL is working. We are so looking forward to our 4/15 cruise 25 days :cool1: For the first time in my life I was able to change our flight without a penalty, didn't realize the DW had Friday off.

Welcome Dorabella!

You can make Palo ressies at the 75 day mark (once your cruise is paid in full). Don't worry if you can't get the day you want as DCL keeps a portion of the ressie slots for booking on-board.

AFAIK, you can't select a dining rotation. DCL usually sets the following rotation patterns:

  • Young kids = APLAPLA (5:30 and 8:00)
  • Older kids = PLAPLAP (5:45 and 8:15)
  • Adults = LAPLAPL (6:00 and 8:30)

If you are traveling with another family or group, you can link your ressies to sit together. Otherwise, they will seat you wherever. They do try to match families if possible. On our first cruise, we sat with another family. On the second, we were at a 4-top table ourselves. On this last cruise, we went with my DM and DA, so it was the 6 of us.

The price sounds good. It's right around what we paid for a cat 10.

Again, welcome to the group . . .

Glad to hear your DD is doing better. My thoughts are with you for your Dad. My DW & I are going thru a similar situation with her Grandfather. It can be very tough physically and mentally.. Hang in there and enjoy your upcoming cruise. You'll need the relaxation.

Thanks for the thoughts. I never want to see anyone in a nursing home. $8,000 a month so they can ignore you. I'll pay someone to come to the house three times a day and feed & give him a bath. I hope they keep him in rehab till after the cruise. We shall see

Hey Joksten2000: So sorry to hear all this news. Here is an  to watch over your DD and hope she recovers 100%!!
And :grouphug: for the entire family as you all watch over and pray for your Dad.
Here is hoping you and DW have a MAGICAL time on your pending cruise!
And some pixie dust for your suitcases! pixiedust:

Thursday we take our DD to the specialist with the new xray's and MRI's and see how things have progressed. It's been a long 2 months, good thing she has a state job. Like all things in life, with time things change, useless to worry about a passing thing. It's a shame it takes a life time to realize this. I can remember thinking in the past how life changing an event was, now looking back it was really nothing much, now I just go with the flow knowing everything that happens does pass, the sun always manages to rise the next day, nothing you do can change that.

Ah, well in the mean time just 23 days till our cruise. MandM22 where in sj are you from? :bounce:
