Feb. Member Event at Doorway to Dreams (Updated p.11 with incentives)

Thanks for all the details!!

Did they also have smaller prizes, like last time, such as framed prints and other little gems?

Is this NEW MEMBER or ADD ONS?? 100 point minimum for New members with a 3 day cruise??? Please tell me this isn't true. I will be so mad at myself that I didn't fly to Chicago!

You will not believe the incentives at the Member Event! I am excited about the give aways tonight - RCI is great!

The target was DVC members. I don't recall their saying that this was only for existing members, however.

There were no other prizes or give aways other that what I listed. There were quite a few snacks afterwards.

The hubby is disappointed....not really what we were hoping for

100 Points to join DVC??? nah. that's for current members. that would be pretty cool tho!!

i'm off to bed. got a sore throat  and i'm dead tired! have a great nite everyone and give mickey a hug for me in chicago! :lovestruc

TINK?!?!? Holy cow my DD5 is going to have a seizure! I wonder if they fly the characters here, or if they select local people. I'll definitely recognize if it's the Tink we met last month at MK.

well we drove the 5 hrs and added on 100 pts 2 weekends ago...we got the 3 night cruise. I'm sure not driving back to Chicago for some Mary Poppins Tickets...we were kinda hoping for AP's. Seeing Mickey would probably be worth it but I was having to do this trip all alone and all in 1 day...nah!!! I'm gonna go to Columbus with my BF to get her new puppy!
Thank you for posting!!!!!!:worship:

Who is the puppy for ....you or your daugher:hug:

Tink is cool - we skipped the new pixie meet n greet at WDW in Oct due to the nearly 2 hr wait... my DD will enjoy that if the characters are the same throughout the weekend.

I'm not bowled over by the incentive, was hoping for AP's or something, but it should still be a nice capper to our weekend away.

:tinker: I'll be they fly them in. They are too image concious to have some local play the part. Of course, I suppose the characters they use probably screwed up down there and get to come to Chicago in February.

havent' shut this dumb laptop off yet! :surfweb:

My best friend has bought a great pyranese. We already have to 2 chihuahuas and a silky terrier...we've got our own laps full of dogs!
She can have her future 180lb mound creator!! :lmao:

But now i'm debating just staying home for the weekend so that my DD (7) doesn't miss her bball game...gotta say what the DH says.

The presentation was nice. Got my Disney fix which should last me until I go to VB the end of March.

Kids: There was a place to store your kids where they played games, coloring books, video, etc. during the presentation. Afterwards the 2 mice, Aladin, Genie, and Tinker Bell came out. There was a dance party with refreshments. If you are bringing kids, don't forget your camera. Absolutely no lines for any pictures. Of course, this was a school night...probably more kids for the upcoming events.

Big push on how great RCI is with all its destinations, etc. I won't comment on this further. Also the typical Adventures by Disney, DCL, etc. Talk about the treehouses and BLT.

Giveaways: Everybody got a folder with a pad of paper in it, together with a pen. Inside it was a RCI point chart with the nightly points as well. I don't recall seeing this on dvcmember.com, but maybe I missed it. We also got a passport holder, 2 luggage tags, kid's type binoculars that seemed pretty good, a fancy rice crispy cookie.

The giveaway was a 7 night, 2bedroom, RCI exchange. They gave away 1 of these.

Here's the deals:

All points are $112 - $5 = $107. Everything was, of course, BLT.
No closing costs.
If you finance, first payment isn't due until May.
Minimum Purchase 100 points.
No Developer points.

If you buy 100 points you get a 3 day cruise for 4. I wrote down 3 day, but I think it might have been 3 night. Also you get 2 tickets to Mary Poppins which is opening in Chicago next month.

If you buy 160 points you get a 4 night cruise for 4 plus 7 night 2 bedroom RCI exchange, plus 2 Mary Poppins tickets

If you buy 200 points you get a 7 night cruise for 4, 7 night 2 bedroom RCI exchange, plus 4 Mary Poppins tickets.

If you buy 270 points you get an Adventurers by Disney trip. I think it is for 2, but I didn't write that down. You also get a 7 night 2 bedroom RCI exchange and 4 Mary Poppins tickets.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post all of that. I know we all really appreciate it!!!

We are also disappointed. We are interested in ski/on ski/out skiing and Hawaii and frankly the RCI options are not the best. For us, the RCI trip isn't much of an incentive.

The cruise offered during undesirable times of the year=not a great incentive for us. Also, we are a family of 5 and would HAVE to upgrade.

Actually, we really want to see Mary Poppins but again, a poor incentive for us. We'd want our whole family to go. What's the point of seeing Mary Poppins without the kids? 2 tix won't do.

I agree that AP's would have been a nice incentive as well as additional pts. to use AT WDW or DL that didn't expire in Oct.

We were really hoping for something more. Not sure we'll add on at all now. We don't need more pts. We'd just like to have them. In this climate, the incentives are going to have to be better than that to add on.

WOODYSROUNDUP!! I would have to agree.. We were there tonight I tried to get the ipod hooked up to the internet but it was a no go.. no WIFI :( We drove 2 hrs to have a cruise offered to us.. and some mary poppins tix.. Which I would have to drive another 2 - 21/2 hrs to go see. Ap would have been awesome or something disney.. Which when they took the survive from us everyone mostly answered they go to disney! Well then heck give us the disney incentive! At least last year we got ap and dp! not very happy!! But my daughter loved mickey so that part was worth it!!

Do you have to use the RCI trip as a two bedroom one week or can you use the point equivalent for a one bedroom and some short stays? And, are all seasons available? Also, are the Mary Poppins tickets for a specific date?

I would have bought the 25 point contract at BLT if I could have gotten 2 free Mary Poppins tickets. The CM asked if he could give them to me but the answer was no. I decided not to buy. What recession?

well we aren't going there to add on, not the right time right now. we are going to see the characters and to celebrate DH's birthday. Our kids are looking forward to it. So it sounds like they will have a good time, if we make it.:wizard:

Thinking about last night's incentives...I don't think they really need much of incentives these days. BLT sales seem to be going well and that's all they have to sell right now other than maybe a bit of SSR due to the tree houses. No rumors I've heard of of any new developments at WDW.

They never said where the Mary Poppins tickets were. I just looked at my Thursday night tickets for April and they were $60 for 8th row balcony. They did say the tickets were worth $150, but never said if this was each or for 2. Somehow I think they were blowing smoke when they said they were worth $150.

On the cruise, they did say they were outside view. Definately not balcony, but at least not interior cabins.

All said, I'm still glad we went. We had no plans on buying anything, and we did get our Disney fix for this weekend. It was good seeing the mice.

If you are planning on driving in for this, make sure you check the weather for the weekend. They are forecasting 4 to 9 inches of snow beginning Friday evening.
