Feb. 7, 2008 3 night wonder...Anyone???

The spa is highly overrated anyway :rolleyes1

I hope we can all meet up at some point on the cruise if not before!

I would rather shop and have DH rub my shoulders....:rotfl2: than hand over $ to the spa!!

That would be great to share a drink...and toast everybody's special occasions!! Especially yours:bride: pirate:

We can not wait to see everyone and to meet people on the cruise and before. . .
we are going to do MK on the 2nd so this party afterwards sounds like it could be a good plan . . .;)
extra tickets were mentioned - does anyone have a link for them! Am spending so much time reading this not got the time to search!!!!

Can those that have been before tell us what types and how good the jewellery is that we can find at Nassau so that I can work out whether or not to purchase that something special.

The special night, when we are booking Palos, is the anniversary of 1 year to the day when we first meet so there is a question I might need to ask . . .
:simba::hug:
Does anyone have any hints or tips regarding Castaway, only there is so many things that you can do on the island we are unsure which will be the best use of our time. Also are there any shops/ Disney stores etc that we can buy stuff from etc.

More about us:

We are:
Jonathan, 27 - A photographer, Soccer referee and Wimbledon Tennis Umpire.
Kirsty, 22 - Works for local government. :laundy:

Anyone else like to divulge, there are lots of coded words - DD, DH etc that we do not understand yet!!!:wizard:

Since this is my 2,000th post...it better be good!! (I do have a life....really)

So Jonathan....Kirsty better NOT read this!!! lol......HOW EXCITING!!!!!!!!!! How romantic, and BEFORE Valentines...even better!! I got tingles just reading that!!!!

Ok...DH is Disney Husband....DD Disney Daughter...DS Disney Son....

So Kirsty is your DG...Disney Girlfriend...for now;)

If you go to www.disneyworld.com you should be able to find a link, or special events for the PPP (Pirate & princess Party)..you do have to order them ..better price...can do a will call, pick up once you get there. They should give you options.

Cant help with Nassau....still debating if we will go venture out just a bit.

Meant DVD...not DVC...meant brunch...not bruch..oops!

Good luck with booking Palo! make sure you mention "that" ...just in case they are crowded that night, never know, may help. Have never booked at Palo yet....may just try and book a bruch....since this is more of a family cruise! For us, anyway!

Will go and have a look at www.disneyworld.com, which I am doing as we speak . . . . . .

Right they are purhcased, collecting them from Will Call. Hooray!!! Another night out planned!!!!pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:
Will need to take a holiday after this holiday to have a rest!!!!!!!

I was planning to get a better item (back to the jewellery) in the US or Bahamas anyway as you get a lot more for your money over there than you do here.

So hopefully I can get something much better for her!!:cloud9:

I'm not sure about all the jewelery deals, but I remember them having the pre-port meeting where they would give you all the details. I know what you mean about getting a better deal here....on our trip to London I bought 2 club sandwiches, fries and drinks (soda, mind you) and it was the equivalent to $75 USD. :headache:

I would think you would be fine getting your Palo's reservation but I would go ahead and do it on the 75 day-out mark so you can get that "special" night! I don't think Palo's has brunch on the 3 night cruise but I could be wrong about that.

I'm not sure about the Castaway Cay excursions. We only went one time and spent the day at the beach (the other time we couldn't dock because of weather:mad: ) - it was great enough, but there is SO much to pick from. I would recommend looking at the Disney site and just reviewing everything there is. The water is still pretty cool/cold at that point. A lot of people in the water I guess it is what you are used to. You really don't have to do anything extra to have a great time - there is an adult only beach, so you and Kirsty can go there to get away from the screaming kids and enjoy quiet time. We are going to attempt the Kayak/Nature tour if my DD will let us get away because she is too young for it.

Our details:

Me - Joyce - also younger than my DH but that's all I'm saying! - work for an Insurance Broker.
DH - works in sales
DS - Brandon - just turned 13 - also honor roll student - great artist and recent black belt
DD - Katelyn will be 6 for the cruise - Kindergartener that thinks she is going to be 16, not 6. Loves Disney princesses and thinks she is one :) She was my little 3lb 1oz preemie that is now a ball of fire. Does Karate at her afterschool and just finished a soccer league - she was a natural if I do say so myself :cool2:

Just realized I didnt include what DH and I did to keep a roof over our heads and how we are able to vacation!lol
We won the lotto!..lol j/k..Dont I wish!

Anyway, Dh is a Project Manager, he oversees his Construction Co's Waste Water Treatment Facilities...the building of....etc.....I know, not a tour you would want to make!!!! lol
I use to work with an insurance company...then decided I wanted to make my own commissions, and now I have my own business with Mary Kay.
Joyce...congrats on Katelyn:) I love to hear stories like that:)

We do not like London either - the costs are far too high thats why holidaying in the US is always good for us. Apparently if your going to spend around £1,000 on gifts at christmas you actually save money by travelling to New York on a 3day trip and buying there rather than on the high street here!!!
Doubt there is much chance of seeing us in the water unless its really warm!!!!! Do not run into a cold sea for no reason!!!!

After booking the Pirates and princesses party we have decided we are going to dress up for it! Apparently I am going as Jack Sparrow!!! But for Kirsty I have decided she is going as Minnie, so far I have found: dress, shoes, ears, gloves!!!!! Only got to get the black tights and its all solved!!!! COuld make for some interesting photos!!!!! And thats on our first day!!! Surely it can only get better from there!!!

We have Mary Kay over here as well I think . . . I certainly know they have a UK head office somewhere.
I take some of my photography work to the US and you can find it online at: www.limitededitionphotos.co.uk

Currently working on the new site so hopefully more and updated online soon!!!:woohoo:

Hey all!! Hope your weekend was great! I am just returning from my business trip to Vegas. We stayed at the Wynn, and it was a great place. This was my 1st trip to Vegas, I really didnt care for the place, but enjoyed myself. We went to see Le Reve, its a show from the creators of Cirque and it was amazing. It had all the elements of a Cirque show but it was staged on and in water. I highly recommend it! I was up bright and early booking our next cruise after the Feb one. We are officially booked on the 2008 member cruise!!! I am so excited, this will be our 2nd member cruise!!!

As far as Palo and the Spa go, we have decided to pass this cruise. We are going to do a tour on Nassau, the bus one, not sure what it is called. We have a very large group sailing with us, so we had to accomodate all! There is Myself, Tim(DBF), Krystina(11) Haylee(9), Lauren(4), My mom and stepdad, Tims Dad, and Grandma. So we range in age from 4-84. Then Tim and I are staying onboard for the 4 night after that. We are planning on relaxing this cruise, it will be our 1st vacation without the kids! Just us, Alone!!!!

As far as we go with what pays for our many trips a year, Tim is a Manager at Costco wholesale, and I am a dental office manager. We also own DVC which helps us alot!!! We are going on quite a few trips this year, and next, but 2009 we are going to take alot less!!!

Welcome Aboard MariaTia!!!!

Vegas seems so surreal when you land at the airport...lol...I was like...thats it? The Wynn looks amazing!
Costco fans here:) We go to the one in Orland...thats where we got our passport photos:) We LOVE their wine selection....
Congrats on the Member Cruise! We will probably wait anothr year or so....I want to book a cruise for 2009..a 4 night , while we are on board....just have to get DH "onboard"!! lol
Like you tinkrbelle77........2009 looks dim for DVC points for us too!!:( Maybe Vero Beach.....but Dec will be my 3rd trip to WDW this year...and we have 2 Disney trips for 08....
We received double incentive pts when we bought over Labor Day...and we are using them for the cruise:) Well a few more cause DH wanted a verandah...
As we get closer to the cruise, we should plan a "meet"....
however, the "London Couple" will be at AKL with us after the cruise hanging with the animals:)
Happy Thanksgiving Week!

Welcome aboard Mariatia,

Its nice to see this board getting even bigger . . .
Cruise experts . . . So what tips do you have for us newbies???
We are currently waiting to book Palo for the Saturday night and will be doing that as soon as we can . . .
We are going to the Pirates and Princesses party before the cruise so if anyone else is going to that it would be good to meet up that night!!! That should be a good night, K is going as Minnie and I am going as a Pirate!!!All these people on the member cruise . . . We feel left out now!!! Perhaps its something we should look into a lot deeper . . .
Can you use your DVC points on a cruise as well then? Whats the process with that . . .

Hope to catch up soon!!!

Yes you can use your points on a cruise, we used them to book the Feb cruises, and it was a great deal, we got a rebooking discount on points for booking after getting off another cruise, and then paid only a $75 exchange fee per cruise, not per cabin...It was great!!!

I had WONDERed about this....how do thy discount points?? Unfortunately, the $75 is going up to $95 next year I think....
So, if on our cruise 2/08, and I talk DH into booking one for 09, can we borrow from 2010 pts to book?
I am still a newbie as well:)
"London Couple", (hope you dont mind that nickname:) ).......this is our first cruise too, so I am learning as well!! I think our night to book online for our cruise is Nov 24...(75 day mark)...make sure you mention the "special" occasion for Palo when booking...call in case its booked for your time. ALot of folks get to book earlier than us.....
If there is a wine tasting on this cruise we will do that, I think its at Palo ?
Otherwise, DH and I might just book the Exotic Rasul at the spa......:rolleyes1 I did read that the spa offers specials on port days...so if we do stay onboard on Nassau day, we may do that.

I must say I like the sound of only the exchange fee as well . . .
No problem with the new nickname. I have to say that I will be getting up very early on the morning of day 75. I want to make sure Palo's is booked so I think it will be a very early start on that day!!!
DG and I will be getting off on the Nassau day as we want to explore and go and see what else is about.
As for the Castaway Cay day we are unsure what to do as yet, there are quite a few trips and excursions so its a choice as what to do . . .

The fee is going up to $95, but still not a bad deal. The points are a pretty good deal, I think we paid 104 points for 2 adults in a cat 11 for the 3 night. The only problem is that the discount is only for the 1st 2 in each cabin...Its the same way the onboard cash booking also. But still an excellent deal for us! We are going to book the 3 night Sept 25-28 for a back 2 back after the member cruise, just waiting to get the discount on points!!! Figured what the heck we have borrowed most of our Dec 2008 points, so we may as well use the rest of them and our August 2009 points. We have 3 different contracts, 2 with Dec use years, and one with an Aug use year. It seems to work well for us!!!

Page 6...Who would've thought we'd make it here!!! Maybe we will hit 20 pages before Feb!!!

20 pages??? Think I need to take some time off work!!!!
I think the points think is something we will be exploring. Have spent out this year but will start looking into it a lot more next year as it seems like good investment.
Weather here is pooring with rain and cold!!!!!
Anyone fancy coming here for a holiday!?!?!?!
We could house exchange!

Never been there, but I'd love to house exchange right about now...We are remodeling our kitchen, and the house is in such disarray. We currently have our new appliances sitting in the living room, the kitchen floor is halfway finished, and the cabinets are in the entryway!!!
BTW The weather here in the Chicago area is not much better, its been around 40-45, misting and raining, and grey!!! But I hope the weather gets better here and there soon!!!...Just think in less than 3 months you'll be aboard the Wonder, wishing that the 3 days will never end!!!..Oh and 20 pages will come real easy once we get closer to the cruise and all of us chatty people stat talking and asking more questions!!!

Page 6.....It seems just like yesterday when there were just 2 posters here....lol...

Yes, the weather here is pretty dismal.....although the temps were great yesterday...just alot ot "London Fog"...lol...While enjoying the new extension to 355....it was pretty bad! (355 is a new portion of expressway)...
London Couple...tinkrbellle77 and I are actually in neighboring suburbs...somewhat:)

Thanks for the point info....DH is all about using pts...

I did see a movie called Holiday abt a house exchange....London Couple...as a bonus, you would get a beagle and my mom in the "mothr in law suite" attached to the house!!! lol Both of their barks are worse than their bite!! lol

As we get closer....I know I will be asking questions about packing!! I tend to over pack...especially for the kids!!
tinkerbelle77, 3 contracts....sooo jealous!! :) Hopefully we will add on someday, dont want to push DH yet....just bought abt 3 mths ago!! lol
