Sometimes pesky work gets in the way of my DIS time.

I totally believe that... I work from home but had to travel this week for work and it totally sucks... don't they know that I have packing and planning to do ????

We are all getting very excited - all of us really need a break.

Evening. Haven't started packing but getting overwheled at the thought of everything we might need for our 1 year old princess!

Was planning to go to Disney this Saturday but going to be rainy. Good thing about dh working at Disney we can go anytime pretty much

going to see what I can come up with at the party store for pirate night.

5 people, 7 suitcases.


(3 of which are small carry-on bags- like 17"?? and one rolling cooler type bag that I put bathing suits and all my paper work and stuff for the plane in and then 3 regular size bags to check).

Is this ridiculous? Or average?
I'm thinking I packed light, but once I got all the shoes ( 4 pairs of dress shoes then sandals for the Dh and 3 kiddos and a couple for me) , hairdryer/flat iron and formal wear stuff, it wasn't very light anymore. DH hasn't complained yet, but I think he will when he brings it out to the car.

Reasonable? Or ridiculous. Love to hear what everyone has.

I'm only partially packed but my goal was two large suitcases and one carry on each (4 of us). If I can meet my goal we'll have a total of six so I think you did great! I suspect I may not be able to keep to two checked bags however and will end up having to check another.

Well, we will end up with around the same I think. We're 5 and we will each have our own piece of luggage and then there will be 3 carryons for all five of us. So technically 8 pieces here, though Samantha's is just a knapsack.

Could've been worse too - we ordered a box from Babies Travel Lite for Sam! Don't know what I'd have done if I had all those diapers, wipes, etc. to pack

I haven't started packing, but right now we are planning on 4 large suitcases (27-29"), possibly substituting one of those with a rolling garment bag. We'll also probably have one small rolling suitcase to check (sand toys, FE gifts, pirate stuff, shoe organizer, etc).

For carry-ons we are trying to limit it to backpacks -- each kid will have their own, and I'll have one (figured I could use a backpack for excursions, anyway, and they easily fit under the plane seat). My husband will probably bring his laptop bag (why? who knows??!! LOL).

I'd like to say that I'm trying to keep it to a minimum for the five of us, but realistically, it's easier said than done when you factor in formal night, semi-formal night, and the fact that we'll be gone for 10 days.

Also, if our big suitcases quickly reach the 50lb mark, then we'll have to add another one. Luckily we are flying Southwest so we can bring plenty of bags for no charge.

Well, I tried booking with Dolphinaris for our Cozumel excursion but they won't take any children under 3. I am thinking that must be a recent change because I am pretty sure people on the main board told me they went there with their younger children. Ah well, we went ahead and booked Chankanaab. I am pretty sure I read on the main board that they will usually refuse Disney passengers if they know you are on a cruise, but I went through online booking and had no problem. I guess that day we'll do a bit of shopping in the AM then head over for our swim. Anyone else heading to Chankaanab that day?

We haven't booked any excursions yet. I say "yet" because I have had every intention of doing so, but my husband and I have not had time to sit down and discuss them, we have been so busy!

Right now we are planning on doing Key West on our own, and Castaway Cay probably, too, although we might rent snorkel stuff & a tube if the water's warm enough for swimming.

I have my eye on the Atlantis sub excursion, so we might do that. I think hubby wants to do the zip line thing with my older daughter, or maybe the speed boat thing. We'll probably split up at least some of the time. My Mom doesn't really want to do any of those types of things, maybe a glass bottom boat tour...

Just finished organizing my FE gifts! I did not label who they are "for", but I did label who they are "from", hope that's okay. But I will be sure to do a double-check that I am indeed at the right door before I deliver.

Haven't heard anything about my FE yet -- hope the gal I ordered it from on ebay is working on it! She told me she'd have it in time for my cruise no problem...

Booked the wife a massage today and a few hours at the nursery so my wife can watch the end of the Super Bowl with me. I wish it was Thursday, my vacation begins!

^^ I am guessing we ordered from the same gal off eBay. After I sent her my order, I never heard from her again! But she did make it and ship it in a timely manner so I wouldn't panic yet. You could always send her a message to check though. I loved our FEs - she did a really nice job!

Where is the zip line? I would love to do that, maybe with my older niece!

Jen, I think we are doing the aquarium on our own and then just kind of touring around on foot... going to get some of those chocolate covered key lime bars. I have heard different reviews of the butterfly farm - some say they loved it, some didn't. I am worried about my spirited 2 y.o tromping on them all though! Other than that, the popular attraction seems to be the southernmost point.

I think I am definitely checking out StarBucks too.

I heard from her today and she just mailed it out, so unless something odd happens, I should have it in time. Whew!

I think the zip line was in Cozumel. I can't remember the name of it, but I think it had the words "adventure park" in it, not sure...
