Feb 6 2010 7 Night Western

We just booked tonight! It has been WAY too long since we have been on a cruise! It will be myself, wife and our two boys (6 & 2). I am looking for some football fans to watch the Super Bowl with! :happytv:

Welcome!

My husband will probably be watching it, especially if our team is in it, although the likelihood of that isn't very good at the moment... :sad2:

We are in now for sure! Booked and paid this morning!

It will be me, Jessica, my DH, Lin and DS7, Dallas. Dallas doesn't remember ever cruising before and is so excited! He has been on 3 (but was under 3 on all 3). He loves legos and video games!

This seems like a really small group so far! and so quiet! Is anyone doing the fish extender thing or do I need to look somewhere else for that? I need to get started sewing if I plan on making one!

Hey Jessica - welcome :)

My DN is 7 too.. I think there are a few in that age group.

Nothing has been discussed about FEs yet.. I was wondering the same thing. I think it would be neat to do but am clueless never having cruised before. :confused3 I would be in though.

I haven't cruised since the whole fish extender thing started! But I love hearing about them so hoping we do them! Anyone have any experience?

Regarding February 12 being the start of the peak time. President's Day week is one of the busiest weeks of the year at Disney World. Everything is considered peak time that week. We purposely booked the February 6 cruise to avoid the crush.

^^That's good to know!

I think the gift exchange part of the FE's is pretty straight forward so maybe we can take a head count of who is interested?

I told my nieces about the FEs and they thought that was pretty cool. :cool1:

Hello Everyone.

We are booked along with another couple and our kids. Myself and DW with
a DS9 and a DS4. The other couple have a DS4 and a DD2. We are looking forward to this cruise. We are flying out of Buffalo on the 4th and staying a couple of nights at the Country Inn and Suites at PC. We have a day room booked at the Radisson airport as our flight does not leave until 5:30pm.
We tried to book Palo's but it was full. :sad2: Hopefully we can get a reservation when we board. We are new to Disney cruising and I don't mean to sound ignorant but how does the fish extender thing work?

Hi! :)

Glad to hear there is another 2 year old on board! Now my DD should have a couple of playmates.

If you look on the stickied INFO thread, check out Fish Extenders (it's alphabetical).

My basic understanding is that there is a fish hook outside each door. You hang something - usually disney themed and usually a hanging pocket/organizer type thingie - from the hook. It can be anything though.. I have seen decorated paper bags... there are pics in the links from the INFO thread.

Those participating leave gifts for other people. I don't know if you leave something every day or one item for each person on any day.. I think that depends on how your group organizes it? It's fun to come back, check your FE and see what goodies you have.

Thanks Shenaniganzz.. I will look there. The kids are going to be so excited. We are not going to tell them until the morning of. They will be so surprised.
What are the chances of getting into Palo's if we don't already have a reservation?

Welcome! How exciting! Your first cruise!

Any chance you are on the 5:30pm Airtran flight MCO to Buffalo, on Feb 13th, (right after the cruise?)
We are....and are wondering what should do after the cruise. We rented a car, and thought we would check out the beach area in Cocoa Beach, then drive to Downtown Disney. Never thought about getting a day room.

This cruise is not that full (they are still offering Cat #12's for 4!!), so I wouldn't think you are going to have too much of a problem getting a reservation, if you are not too picky about the night. We have a dinner booked Sunday night and brunch on Thursday. Palo is a must do for us!
Adult time!

This is our first time taking a cruise. I have read a lot about the FEs and was wondering if they were happening for our cruise. I would be interested :thumbsup2 in participating but I don't feel like I can organize it.:confused3 Sorry to pass the buck but because I've never cruised or seen FEs used I don't know how to set it up.

I'm not sure how to set it up - I didn't know it required it! I must be missing something because I thought it would be as simple as people agreeing to participate and then leaving gifts for each other! ;)

If we need a running list of who is participating, I am happy to do that. :) What else is involved?

Okay, adding that I checked around and it looks like other groups have an excel sheet - which makes sense. I suppose it'd be easier to have an excel list of the people participating and the cabin #'s! I suppose that won't be too hard considering we're not a huge group! ;)

I was wondering about how often would be reasonable. Is it usually everyday or every other day? I know it is up to our group to decide but what is the norm?
