Feb.4,2006. Who else is sailing?

OK, I have been getting the clothes out for the trip and I have come across three nice dressy outfits, shoes, etc. Now, do I bring all three or do I choose only two of them. I don't want to look over dressed. What is everyone else doing? We are not having dinner at Palo, just the planned brunch. I have lost 30 pounds so I want to take advantage of wearing some things that I can now fit in. (20 more to go, goal of mine for July.)

We leave two weeks from today to start our trip down to the Cape. I am trying to decide if I want a pre-cruise pedicure or a Disney Pedicure. Such decisions! :rotfl2: Any of you had the pedi on the ship? I have had many of the treatments, etc. and my hair cut, but no pedi.

Thasic - My name is Debi and my husband is Cal. We are traveling for our 30th anniversary. We have two daughters that are now married, and will be on our own. Wooopee! We live in Charlotte, NC. We are early dinner seating.

Debi - congrats on your weight loss!!!!! You'll have to share your secrets - I still have baby weight and then some to get rid of... :(

As for clothes - I'm bringing two cocktail dresses: one for formal night (which may be the same as our Palo dinner ressies if they change formal night to Monday b/c of Superbowl) and the other for semi-formal; I have a few other dresses for other dinners and for Palo brunch. I either wear a skirt, dress or capri's to dinner.

That said - wear whatever you want - after 30 pounds, you deserve it!!

Finally - no Dis pedi; only hot rock massage. I plan to get a pedi the week before we leave. :teeth:

Marcy or other Floridians: can you buy beer and/or wine at Publix? Do you have to go to a liquor store for the hard stuff? Were going to pick some up on Friday to bring with us - probably wine and liquor, and didn't know if we'd have to make two stops.

Thanks! Johnna :drinking1
I wish there was a "drinking" smiley with margarita glass!!!

You can buy beer and wine at Publix, and depending on the Publix, they often have a better selection than local liquor stores. :) Publix does not have bottles of grain-based liquor, though -- they may have some of those Kahlua mixed bottles with liquor, but definitely not a bottle of tequila.

Albertson's -- another grocery store -- may have liquor, though. A lot of them have a liquor store attached to the grocery store. Since it's officially a spearate store, I think they carry the gamut.

No liquor sales before noon on Sunday, though.

Just an aside, though -- St. Thomas is THE best place to buy hard liquor. I'm not sure if you want to wait till we get there (day 3?), but from what i recall, they have everything, and they have it cheap.

Congrats on your weight loss!

I, personally, would bring all three. :) I know that's against the pack and unpack half "rule", but I like choices!

Yachtsea, fear not...John and I will probably be the most overdressed people there...when we were "courting" my honey bought me all kinds of cocktail dressed, gowns, outrageous rhinestone jewelry (I love sparkly things) shoes, blah blah blah and I have a wardrobe full of them and precious little opportunity to wear them. So the cruise is a fabulous excuse to go "overboard." ;-) In my prior marriage, I pretty much was a jeans and sweatshirt kind of girl, but now although that's still my standard non-working attire, I do love to dress up now, and so does John. On our last cruise all the ladies in our group dressed one night in gowns and long black gloves and tiaras and had our picture taken on the stairway in the main lobby. I'm all for comfort, but there's something about the elegance of the ship that makes me willing to put on nylons and dangerous shoes.

I am bringing cocktail dresses for formal night. Nothing too fancy. Actually I think the kids will look better than my husband and I. I bought a lot of cute dresses for my daughter and found a suite for my son on clearence at Kohles. I plan to start packing this weekend. We have too much to do the next two weekends and I don't want to feel rushed the day before we go.

Thanks - we will probably bring wine for me and liquor for Uncle. I can't make MY margaritas b/c there's a special recipie with frozen limeaid that won't stay frozen in those dinky coolers. Oh well... but will look forward to restocking in St. Thomas!!!

By the way, it was really warm up here in DC today - just got back from 1.5 hrs. at the park with the kids. Don't know what next week will be like though...
:wizard: :wizard: Pixie dust that you'll bring warm weather with you from FLA!!

Ok, Cruise countdown....Exactly 14 (loooong) days until departure. How am I going to make it.... :hourglass

BTW, I'm looking into making up a door sign, is anyone else going to do the same?

I am panning to make some magnetic door signs BUT my dear hubby thinks that I might get held up in airport security if I carry them on with me :confused3 .........anyone else have any issues or should I just put them in my luggage? THANKS! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

14 Days to go and counting :hourglass

We're almost done making our signs - we got so caught up in the clip art that we decided to do a sign for every day! I found a lot of info and samples of other's signs on this thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=838817

Some I found most useful were:

1- not all printers do well with magnetic paper; so use photo paper or other heavier stock paper and use magnetic strips (just bought some at Michael's yesterday - not expensive) on each corner. You can even laminate the sign before you put the magnets on it.

2 - I found great Disney clip art at this site: http://www.geocities.com/disneyclipsmain/

3 - Search the thread for where to download the Disney font. (sorry, I didn't bookmark it)

Don't know why they would cause a security problem? I plan to put them in the outside pocket of the carryon anyway since they will likely stay flat that way.

Now - time to go start packing... :goodvibes

Hi everyone!

I thought it is finally time to introduce ourselves. We (myself Lisa),DH, two
DDs, and DS will be on the Feb.4th cruise. Whoo Hoo!! I have actually been
lurking since day 1! We booked our cruise 13 mos. ago during a cold spell here in Ma. I can't believe the time has just about arrived. My son is 10 y.o., I have a daughter who is 10 y.o.(she is going to be so excited-she has Down
Syndrome and LOVES the characters-I'm sure they'll be getting lots of kisses), and our youngest daughter is 6 y.o. We are travelling with friends who have a DD15 and DD10. They are all psyched to meet new friends.
We are flying down to PC the day before and staying at the Radisson. I will be the one getting on the shuttle at 10 a.m. dancing in the aisles with excitement. (I wish I knew how to use that jumpy guy icon!) We are in a Cat.4 family stateroom. I would have loved to book the Cat 3 but they wanted big bucks to upgrade. We have main seating at 6pm.
I'm going to TRY to start packing today-too much to bring!
Bye for now!
Lisa

I too was "lurking" for about 13 months before I got brave and jumped in. I'll be on the 10:30 shuttle from the Radisson taking over your aisle dance!! :cool1:

Happy packing!

Laura

I have read a couple of posts about a pirate dress up party of some kind. What is this all about? Is it just for the kids or kids-at-heart? When does it happen and where?

We will also be sailing on 2/4. We booked last year and are very excited for our first Disney cruise! We have been to Disney many times and are looking forward to trying something new. We are myself, DH, and 2 DSs (7 and 4). My sister, BIL and their kids (DD5 and DS 2) are also going.

We are early seating and staying on Deck 6. We will be at WDW for the day before. Just one day at the Magic Kingdom to get warmed up! :wave2:

Lisa,

We'll be at the Radisson for two nights prior to the cruise and will be on the 10:00 am shuttle as well (we're actually debating returning our rental car the night before or keeping it until the morning of the cruise -- I would drop off my family and then return the car). But I made the 10:00 am shuttle reservation anyway.

Our party will be my Uncle, DW, DS (5) and DD (a month shy of 3).

Looking forward to meeting you -- we'll probably see you at the pool at the Radisson anyway.

Mark

It's not a dress up party, per se, but people do dress up. It's Pirate Night, which includes a pirate-themed dinner and a pirate party on Deck 9 later on. We dressed in tropical garb last time, but dd1 is going to dress up as a pirate this time. I haven't bought any pirate garb for anyone else, but will try to get on that -- I haven't had a day off in about a month, so all of my pre-cruise plans have gone awry!

I know what you mean. I wasn't planning on starting a new job until after the vacation ( I just graduated), but I got offered a job :yay: :woohoo: and have to start all the orientation stuff before we leave so that took a huge chunk out of my vacation prep time. But C'est la vie.

Twelve days before we fly out of Alaska :hourglass ! It was like five degrees last night :sad2: :sad2: .

I had magnetic sheets of paper (door signs) in my carry on bag on our last 2 cruises.... no problems at the airport.

Lisa,

Your profile says that you live in southeastern Mass. My uncle who is joining us lives in Raynham. Is that near you?

Mark

Mark,

Yes, Raynham is very close to us-we live in Rehoboth and DH works in Taunton!
That is too funny! We have lived in this area all our lives. It will be fun to chat
with him.

Lisa
