Feb.4,2006. Who else is sailing?

Yeah, concentration is a problem lately...Can't imagine why :confused3 :rotfl2:

So do any of the other late sitting people want to try and link resies? I think we can have an 8 or 10 person table? So far Kat and I are linked with Disney AK cup and her DH.

2 weeks from today! I'm leaving for FL in 2 weeks from today!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Hello Yachtsea My family and I (a Dmom, aDson and a Ddaugther) live in the Washington DC area, in Laurel Maryland. We are flying into Orlando and taking a limo to the ship. We are cruising with my wife's sister and her family so there will be ten of us. Kids range from my youngest 4 year old Juliana, to my oldest 18 year old Joshua. We have two rooms on deck 8. We tried to get ajoining rooms but no luck :earboy2:

I was wondering, my son having just turned 18 (birthday Feb 01) and my sis-in-law's oldest boy being 16, are there generally a lot of young people in that age range? I'm a little worried that our two boys will be the only people in the upper teens.

Hey jblb1020, my group has the late seating too. I figured I couldn't get my act together either, just like skylynx. I figure we go see the show and then have a leisurely dinner. Maybe we will see you all there! ;)

Hello Thasic,
We are a family of four DH, DW, DS(5) DD(2.11) I don't actually mind the late seating but I don't think the kids will make it till 8:30pm I am hoping to put them in the club during dinner time unless they want to go. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hey, Dee

My DH and I would like to link ressies for dining...forgot what I have to do to arrange that (did it last two years ago). There's just the two of us. We've only once had crummy tablemates, but I'm always anxious to know in advance there's some fun (and at least semi sane) people to enjoy meals with!

Denise

Hi, Thasic...welcome.

If it is any help in deciding about the seating time, I had late seating with my kids (no 2 year old, but an 8 and a 10) and they only showed up at dinner when forced the one semi formal night because I bought them nice clothes and they were darn well going to wear them. In fact, they only showed up ANYWHERE other than the Oceaneer's Club/Lab under adult pressure. We were paged once the entire cruise, and it was because my daughter needed more sunscreen. We'd occasionally see them marching around the ship going off to some neat scavenger hunt or spying on the adults or making flubber, other than that, if I wanted to see them out of their beds I had to go find them. We had to drag them out of the club each night at around 11 pm because WE were tired and wanted to turn in! So you may get lucky! I'd planned on having at least five photo albums filled with cute kids on the beach, kids on the verandah, kids with the characters pictures and ended up with only a handful with them in it at all. Still, they had a fabulous time and we're taking them on another Wonder cruise April 30 (guilt trip for not taking them on this one). Probably won't get any pictures of them on that cruise, either. :-)

Looking forward to meeting you.

Denise, sent you a PM.

When I travel with my DS (not this cruise, but others), we always insist on dinner as a family. We're all night owls, so we always have late seating. We get the "All Hands on Deck" platter midafternoon or early evening in our stateroom, on the rare occasion Keith is NOT in the club and gets hungry. It's a great cheese and crackers platter, and holds him over until dinner. Room service is free (except for the cash tip).

We normally always have family dinners at home on the nights the kids are with us (shared custody situation) and I echo the importance of eating meals as a family. It always seemed on our cruise though, that the coolest thing going on at the club each day conflicted with dinner, and I didn't have the heart to tear them away from their kid sized buffet and new friends. The kids ordered room service donuts and chocolate milk for themselves at night so when we finally extricated them from the club they had that waiting in the room and we got to hear all the stuff they'd been doing all day. I was actually surprised at how much time they wanted to spend in the club, as both of these kids are kind of loners at home in Chicago. I guess that was part of the reason why I didn't want to interrupt the great time they were having with new friends. Indulgent...yes, but I consider the whole cruise to be pretty indulgent-in fact, that's what I love best about it! For 4-7 days I get to dress, eat, sail the open seas, drink wine on my verandah in an overpriced Ritz Carlton bathrobe and visit exotic ports of call like a millionaire. Mmm Can't wait!

I agree about having dinner as a family and that is why I am on the waiting list for the main seating. I enjoy sitting down as a family for dinner and talking about how everyone's day went. But if we don't get the main seating then we will have to plan it day by day and see how tired the kids get. My 2.11 year old dughter actually surprised me on New Years Eve and stayed up till 12:45am and my son(5) was fast asleep by 11pm. Who knows maybe they will surprise me!

Welcome Thasic! We are neighbors - we're in Kensington MD. There's a few of us Marylanders - we're going to have to plan a post-cruise party!!! :teeth:

14 days from right now, we'll be boarding our plane... :hourglass

No kidding - ours were up until 12:30 on NYE too!! We had late seating last year; it worked out pretty well most nights. We'll see after this year if we like early seating better.

Bought the suntan lotion and travel size shampoo, shaving cream, etc. this morning!! :cheer2:

Has anyone had luck changing their dining time on board? The four of us and my Dad have 6pm seating together. My sister has been on the waiting list to join us for the last two months. Her reservation still shows late seating. I called and they said that even though there is room at our table there isn't room in the dining room.

I GOT MAIN DINNER SEATING!!!!! I am sooooooo excited! I just checked our cruise reservation and have main seating at 6pm!!!!!!!

Congrats!!! :goodvibes

Marcy or other Floridians: can you buy beer and/or wine at Publix? Do you have to go to a liquor store for the hard stuff? Were going to pick some up on Friday to bring with us - probably wine and liquor, and didn't know if we'd have to make two stops.

Thanks! Johnna :drinking1
I wish there was a "drinking" smiley with margarita glass!!!

OK, I have been getting the clothes out for the trip and I have come across three nice dressy outfits, shoes, etc. Now, do I bring all three or do I choose only two of them. I don't want to look over dressed. What is everyone else doing? We are not having dinner at Palo, just the planned brunch. I have lost 30 pounds so I want to take advantage of wearing some things that I can now fit in. (20 more to go, goal of mine for July.)

We leave two weeks from today to start our trip down to the Cape. I am trying to decide if I want a pre-cruise pedicure or a Disney Pedicure. Such decisions! :rotfl2: Any of you had the pedi on the ship? I have had many of the treatments, etc. and my hair cut, but no pedi.

Thasic - My name is Debi and my husband is Cal. We are traveling for our 30th anniversary. We have two daughters that are now married, and will be on our own. Wooopee! We live in Charlotte, NC. We are early dinner seating.
