Feb.4,2006. Who else is sailing?

Well, we also booked a back to back Wonder cruise in 2007.

The tension is starting to build, the kids are getting excited!

Billinaz, your signature is wrong -- the Feb. 4 cruise is an Eastern! ::yes::

We got a DCL DVD in the mail today (I forgot I ordered it) -- very fitting and got the kids excited!

Also, if anyone here wants a postcard from Florida (Orlando postmark) for the kids (I have 2 different types of DCL postcards that I can send), let me know, and I'll send them so your kids get them about 2 weeks before the cruise.

Marcy - we'd love to get postcards from Mickey! I'll PM you our home address. How cool are you?? :goodvibes

Thanks.

I originally was going to do a Western, but decided the Eastern was more what I wanted to do. Im not big on going to Mexico..... We live just a couple hours away from the border and go there pretty frequently.

Maybe 2008?

I have yet to do a western. I love St thomas, and generally prefer days at sea, which the Eastern has more of...

Marcy,

Our DDs share the same birthday. How are you planning to celebrate (besides taking her on a cruise)?

Ah, but isn't that enough for a 3 year old!? :rotfl:

We plan to request a birthday cake on the last night, and I will probably make her a t-shirt announcing her birthday. I think the last night is the princess signing, so we'll make sure to tell the princesses (the only characters she likes othe rthan Minnie right now).

And we should definitely get them together, although if birthdays are any indication, I fear your dd might be as stubborn as mine! :earseek:

OK, lets get the meet firmed up!

Is it going to be up on the deck above the Goofy Pool on the Port side after the sailaway party?

I dont think we will be wearing the green DIS shirt we have matching aloha mickey shorts / dresses so that the photo they take on the gangway looks good.

We will be at table 31 in the restaurants. We requested the PLA rotation.

Thanks Johnna! I'll wear my T-shirt for sure! :)

I think a meet ~3:15-3:30, before the lifeboat drill, is best. The sailaway party gets crazy! What we did on the 10 night cruise in Dec. was get together on Deck 10, above the Mickey Pool, so that parents who wanted to have their kids in the pool could watch from above. It was a 20 min. initial meeting, though lots of us got together later at different times. I think it's fun to have a meeting, and I'm all for it!

Three of us (Marcy, Jeanette and us) talked of meeting at 2:30 at the Mickey Pool so our kids (all the same age) can meet. So I think Dee's idea of 3:15-3:30 above the pool is great, since we'll be there already, so it's easy for us. I agree that the sailaway party might be too crazy.

Is it Feb. 4 yet??? :hourglass

My husband and I are thinking about changing our flight out from Feb 4th to Feb 3rd. We are from NJ and seem to be getting snow every week now and are afraid of delays/cancellations and the 4th. Does anyone have any advice on where we should stay the night before????

I'd stay by the port so that you can wake up gently and have a quick cab or shuttle to the port.

The Radisson has a free shuttle to the port. Ron Jon's is also close, but think you have to pay for a shuttle.

Also, look here for other options:

P.S. The fact that we're officially under the 2 month mark is making me NUTS! Plus, my 2 year old refused to talk to Mickey yesterday at WDW because "I see Mickey on Mickey's Boat. I no want to see him here."

That is just soooooooo cute! That made my day!

It's cold and grey and rainy here. I need a vacation sooooooooo badly!!!

So -- 3:15 above the Mickey pool? Port or starboard?

OK, so we are doing a meet at 3:15 above the mickey pool, starboard side?

We usually get onboard as soon as we can and go to Parrot Cay for lunch.

The kids are looking forward to meeting new friends to play with.... especially my 10 y/o DD. Her 6 y/o sister is voicing concerns being at the club for the first time without her brother or sister (due to the ages on this cruise)

2:30 if you want the kids to meet each other; 3:15 for the general DIS meet.

My dd1 is 5 1/2, so if you want to bring at least your 6 y/o at 2:30, I'm sure they'll be discussing princesses in no time. princess:

2:30 it is.

Melanie is bringing her princess dress to have it on when she takes the photo with her favorite,,,, Aurora.

If she would like, she can email Melanie (I monitor it) at this email address:

kids_dcl_magic@cox.net

Her photo is up higheron this thread.

Ditto on the hotel. We are going to stay at the Radisson at the Port for two nights, just to escape the bleary Washington winters.

Their Web site is here http://www.radisson.com/hoteldirect...on&backURI=/reservation/secure/resconfirm.jsp
and they are the closest hotel to the Port.

Last year, we stayed at the Best Western at Cocoa Beach, but decided to try a new place this year.

And ditto on the dcltribute.com web site -- they have a terrific comparison of lodging alternatives in the area. You're doing the right thing by leaving a day early -- you don't want a freak snow storm to ruin your vacation!

We are staying at the Hampton Inn the night before the cruise.

Staying on points so its basically free. Getting the kids a litlle breakfast is a good thing too....The included hot breakfast is a good benefit.

Returning an Avis rental the morning of the cruise, then taking their shuttle to the port at 10ish in the morning.

We are also flying in the day before and staying at the Orlando Airport Hyatt. Then we are taking the Disney bus the next morning.

Coming back, we have booked a day room at the Hyatt because our flight back to Dallas is after 7:00 PM. Check out time for the day room is 6:00 PM.

I couldn't help myself :cool1:and I booked a room a Disney's Wilderness Lodge for the night of Feb 3rd. We changed our flight and we are arriving in the afternoon on Feb 3rd. We usually take a Disney Vacation every year but this year my husband and I treated ourselves to a cruise to Bermuda on RC and Nanny and Grandpa stayed at home with the kids. Although we had a great time in Bermuda I really missed not going to Disney this year and coulden't help but stay there for one night, I also booked dinner at Chef Mickey's that night and thought it would be a great way to start off our vacation!!! We are getting closer to departure day and I can't wait! But thank you to everyone for the advice on Hotels.
