Feb.4,2006. Who else is sailing?

I imagine if you aren't the kind of cruisers that spend any time in your cabin it is harder to justify the additional cost, but for us, it just wouldn't be the same without our verandah! Enjoy, enjoy enjoy!

It will be perfect for us when (if) the kids nap.

I see you were on the Western last October -- were you on the Hurricane Jeanne tour?

Well tonight we are going to submit our passport applications for all of us. I believe that everyone traveling to the Caribbean will need them starting in January 2006. Is that true????

Hi, there

We actually were on the Just Missed the Hurricane cruise...but it meant no Grand Cayman. I have friends that own a house on Grand Cayman I've been lucky enough to visit several times, so it wasn't such a disappointment for me, but I know many people were sad to miss Stingray City. We had a great time at Costa Maya, though. After seeing what happened with cruises this October, we're happy to stay with February cruises here on in..that way we only have to worry about getting stuck in Chicago winter weather when leaving for Florida-and we can anticipate trouble and leave early if need be.

I am so happy for you to be getting that kind of upgrade...well worth the extra money for sure...and just wait until the first morning you step out and can watch dolphins or flying fish right from your verandah! Sometimes it seemed to me we spent at least an hour or two every day just hanging over the railing looking at everything (and admiring the stabilizers that are right below our cabin's verandah).

Hey, Happy Thanksgiving to you and to all our fellow cruisers!

We were on the Hurricane Jeanne Magic 5 day tour, which is why I asked. :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

So we'll be cruising with a verandah for the first time ever, and I'm so excited I may explode.

You will love the verandah! As metioned, it's a little piece of luxury and lucky you for getting to take advantage of it. I'll do a little jump up and down for you! We loved it last year and are looking forward to it again. We haven't done coffee/breakfast, but it sounds like a great idea! We usually sat out there to read while the kids were napping, and it's great when you pull in to port to watch all the activity while they secure the ship. It's pretty cool.

Only 71 days to go!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Steve and your family. And to everyone else on the Board as well. We'll be a whole lot more thankful in 68 days!!!

Mark

And ditto to what Johnna said about the verandah -- it's awesome. While we didn't do coffee there in the morning, I bought cigars in Cozumel and went out there are few times to enjoy peace and quiet and a fine cigar. Oh -- and to watch the deep, blue ocean go by.

There's nothing like a verandah (unless of course it's athe verandah of the Roy Disney suite).

Okay - it's December, it's friggin COLD, and therefore I'm SO INTO planning this trip. Are all us DISer's going to try to meet up on day one - maybe at the sail away party? I recently read the trip reports from one of the November trips and they all boarded wearing lime green t-shirts. So we could all wear the shirts that Dee designed/made (see page 13, post #194 - You go girl!! :goodvibes ) so we know who to look for.

What does everyone think? And if not, just say so. If you don't like the shirt idea - I know wearing the same shirts is not for everyone - we can arrange a meet even if not dressed alike. Johnna

PS - if we're taking the kids on a cruise, do we also have to buy them Christmas presents??? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks Johnna! I'll wear my T-shirt for sure! :)

I think a meet ~3:15-3:30, before the lifeboat drill, is best. The sailaway party gets crazy! What we did on the 10 night cruise in Dec. was get together on Deck 10, above the Mickey Pool, so that parents who wanted to have their kids in the pool could watch from above. It was a 20 min. initial meeting, though lots of us got together later at different times. I think it's fun to have a meeting, and I'm all for it!

As far as the kids are concerned -- our cruise was 12/18-28, and Santa still found my son on the ship...Sorry, I'm no help...I spoil him rotten!

I really wanted to find lime green t-shirts, but if I can't, I'll probably make our own tees. (Just because I'm cheap and can make the shirts for about $3 each -- it has nothing to do with Dee's design! :) )

And I'm definitely up for a pre-lifeboat drill meet up on Deck 10. We'll be the ones shoving the first of many chicken tenders into our greasy faces.

I've already wared the kids that there won't be much swimming because we're already freezing down here. Hopefully Castaway Cay will have some decent weather, though.

Hi, All

If you are interested, I believe the lime green "DIS" t-shirts are still available at the DIS store. The link's on the DIS home page...DH and I each had one for the last cruise, but homespun ones would work, too!
I just re confirmed my sponsorship and so now we each have a cool DIS pin trading pin, too (but I'm not trading!)

It is really, really getting close...

We ordered the white t-shirts that Dee designed, so we'll just wear those (although lime green IS my color!)

Hard to imagine how close we're getting - especially when it's unusually cold around here today, and will go down to 15 degrees tonite. Brrr...

I tried my design on the lime green Tees in Cafe Press, but the color combination was REALLY bad...

I've ordered my own t-shirts for me and Kat (she can be an honorary DIS cruiser by association, right?)

I am getting SOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!!! I somehow managed to snag CRT and Spirit of Aloha resies this week (we're staying at WDW before and after the cruise)...I thought I'd be too late!

Is it February yet???

My countdown in my signature says 1 Month, 3 weeks, 5 days... My desktop countdown says 53 days 12 hrs 7 minutes...Doesn't 53 days sound better???

53 (now 52 I guess) sounds better - but still not as good as "Announcing the Story Family" as we walk into the atrium!!! :sunny:

We got a DCL DVD in the mail today (I forgot I ordered it) -- very fitting and got the kids excited!

Also, if anyone here wants a postcard from Florida (Orlando postmark) for the kids (I have 2 different types of DCL postcards that I can send), let me know, and I'll send them so your kids get them about 2 weeks before the cruise.

I wasn't going to do it for my own kids, but judging by how excited my 5 year old was when i told her the DVD was from Mickey and not me, I'll be sending them to my house, too. :earsgirl:

Of course, now we're starting to panic about the 3 year old cutoff for the Club, but we'll deal with that when we board.

Marcy,

Our DDs share the same birthday. How are you planning to celebrate (besides taking her on a cruise)?
