If anyone wants to get kids in touch so that they have extra playmates right away (really helped last year) I created an email address for our kids:

kids_dcl_magic@cox.net

Kimberly will be 10
Daniel will be 8
Melanie will be 6

Hello Bilinaz,

both our DS, who is 9, and our DD, who is 6, will try to send an e-mail to your children. Nice picture of them!

Hello Everyone,

I have not posted anything recently, been busy with a new job and making the final travel arrangements for the cruise.

We booked all our shore trips through ShoreTrips (shoretrips dot com) and it is a busy schedule! We may decide to drop one or two of the shore trips, but right now here is what we have booked:

St. Martin
Rent a Rhino - morning (Dad & DD)
Horseback Ride - morning (Mom & DS)
Rock N' Roll Safari Snorkel - afternoon (Dad & DS)
St. Martin Island Tour - afternoon (Mom & DD)

St. Thomas
Wave Runner Safari and Snorkel - morning (Dad & DS)
St. Thomas Island Sightseeing Tour - morning (Mom & DD)

The rest of the day will be spend on a St. Thomas beach resting!

Everyone, share your shore trip plans...

Hi everyone,

I finally made it over to this thread to join, introduce ourselves, and meet all of you. Here's our story:

We (DH and I) are taking our first cruise ever...which will be on the Magic 2/4 with all of you. We bought DVC this past year after selling our house, making a profit, and moving from MA to NY. So, we are thrilled to be DVC owners. I have been on the DIS boards for about 2 years but don't post too much. I am an obsessive planner and we are in the final planning stages of the trip that will culminate with us on the DCL with all of you.

So, here is our trip details and who we are:

DH and I (both 28 yo) have no kids. We wanted to get pregnant this year, but HAD to wait till after this trip in Feb 06 because I didn't want to be limited on anything for this dream trip. So, DH and I have meticulously planned this trip with my stepdad (56) and are taking my mom on this trip as a *SURPRISE* 50th birthday gift to her. We are so excited. That's one of the reasons we bought DVC was to be able to pull off a trip like this (and have great vacations to boot here on out every year). So, we will do 1 week at DW staying at Grand Floridian Mon - Friday before the cruise. Sat 2/4, we start out 2nd half of the trip - the cruise with all of you. It is the first time ANY of us have cruised (unless you want to call my Marine husband's 6 month on a military ship a cruise) and of course, our first DCL experience.

We've done pretty well with our planning so far. For example, for our WDW stay, we already have booked breakfast at CRT with Cinderella, and an Illuminations cruise. By the way - will anyone else be in WDW the week prior to sailing? We might offer up spots on our Illuminations Cruise to offset the cost of it...

Anyway, we would like to meet other DISers, if there are parties, pub crawls, whatever. We can't wait! So, if there is a list of room #s, we would be happy to be on that. I have to check our materials at home, but I think we are on either deck 3 or 6. We put my mom and stepdad in a navigator's verandah suite and we are in a regular inside stateroom across the hall from them. They aren't really the partiers, but DH and I can be.

So, since we are not repeat cruisers, like all of you, we can't book our reservations yet. They told us we had to wait till 75 days out which puts us at Nov. 22 - the week of Thanksgiving.

We will book Palo for dinner and brunch...maybe also for Tea. DH and I are scuba divers and will be doing one of the Scuba excursions. Is anyone else? We will also book the Submarine excursion at St. Thomas.

We can't wait to see mom's face when we go on this trip. She thinks she is going on a rinky dink WDW trip for a few days and then to her INLAWS in FL for the 2nd week. She doesn't know we are going on the trip, has no idea we are staying at GF, and has no idea about DCL! We are so excited that sometimes we want to spill it to her to get her excited. She will be blown away.

Anyway, we just wanted to introduce ourselves. We would be game for a Palo group brunch, so include us as 4 adults. We are not sure what night to have Palo dinner -- since we want to watch Superbowl, and want to dress up for formal night, and want to go to pirate party. So, I am not sure what night that leaves us. ?? Oh, we are on the 8pm dinner rotation since we don't have kids. Lastly, we were thinking about having Palo dinner on SUnday before the superbowl, since we have 8 pm seating, that we thought if we did Palo, we could have like a 5 or 6 pm dinner and go to Superbowl afterwards (instead of being at 8 pm regular dinner rotation). Does anyone have any advice on this? not sure when Formal night is, but I think people say it's Monday night and Tue is pirate party. Any advice would be great.

Sorry to get long-winded. But I had a lot to say since this is a 1st for us!

Thanks ~

Stacey & Tim (plus DMother and DStepdad)

Hi Stacey!

Welcome to our group!

My best friend Kat and I are sailing together on this cruise, sans husbands and kids...No, we're really not feeling guilty :cool1: We just consider this a (very long) girls' night out :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Of corse, she just developed an inner-ear problem...I hope it's all gone by the time we sail!!!

We'll be at POFQ on 2/2-4, and after the cruise we're staying at my home resort BCV! I love DVC points ::yes::

If your IllumiNations cruise is on 2/2 or 2/3, and you want to cut costs...

I've been remiss in making dinning reservations at WDW...I'll have to check if anyone is cancelling CRT so I can jump in...

We're late seating as well (even when I cruise with DS, we always have late seating -- we're all night owls!) -- I love late seating. I always feel I have more time to do everything.

If anyone wants to get the brunch going -- I've booked mine for Monday, 10:30AM. I'd be happy to linnk reservation and see if we can get the private room (if it's available). Whoever is interested, please pm me with your last and first name(s) and stateroom #s. I'll call DCL. It should be fun!

I ADORE Palo brunches and dinners, but I did the tea once and was underwhelmed...so I've skipped it after my first cruise. We're doing Palo dinner Thursday, I'm fairly sure it's a Semi-Formal night (if nothing's changed), and I don't mind dressing semi-formal to Palo...The food there deserves it! ::yes::

I don't believe there are any staterooms on Deck 3, so you must be on 6. So are we! I love your surprise plans for your DM! That is so cool!!!!! BTW, the Atlantis sub in St. Thomas is a GREAT excursion! We (me, DS, DH) did it in Dec. and it was really awesome!

Anyhow, WELCOME!!!!

Dee

Hi,
I just found this thread and was wondering about the formal nights, semi-formal etc. We have cruised before but this is our first Disney Cruise and first for our two DD - ages 5 and 7 and our nephew - age 10. Also, do the kids usually get dressed up for dinner even if they stay in the kids club?

Thanks,
Stefanie

We are not suit and tie people, much less tux types.

The kids and I will be wearing decent pants and a button down or polo shirt to dinner.

Stephanie - we didn't do "formal" last year but more like "Sunday Best" and it was fine. People's definitions of "formal" run the gamut - from full tux and gowns on kids and parents, to nice button down shirts, sport jacket, summer dresses, and dress up clothes for the little girls in particular. But if they will be in OC, then why make them get dressed up? Our tablemates last year skipped formal night altogether and just got food upstairs.

We probably will go more formal this year - tux and gown - I'm hoping to get my husband and son matching mickey ties and cummerbunds! My daughter has a Princess Belle dress she will be wearing for formal night this year. It was her halloween costume, and maybe I'm biased, but she did really look like a princess. princess:
At least we will get some nice portraits done and that will be worth it.

The cruise is officially paid off. Now to save for the fun stuff. Still thinking about excursions---Doubloon sail, stingray snorkel at CC. :cool1: :bounce:

Congrats, Steve on paying off the cruise. You're poorer for having done it but will be richer for having had the experience.

Kids don't have to dress for the club. However, we always insist on dinner together and we dress formal...we like the results! :cool1:

"Sunday Best" works too, of course ::yes::

OK, it's not art, but I was playing around, so...Here they are!

There's also a bear...and an oval...thingie...(that's a technical term). I'm not making anything on these products -- you pay what the site charges to make the stuff, I didn't mark anything up. This is just a fun project, if anyone is interested!

Here's the design, in low resolution (it will be higher res on the shirts etc.):

Love this stuff!!! We will probably buy shirts for all of us - although we're not the kind of family that dresses alike often. But for this, it will be fun!

Hey MarcyInFlorida,

Welcome to our own little space where we are anxiously awaiting on Feb 4 sailing date. You must have booked WELL in advance.

Do you have children? My DS will be 5 and my DD almost three when we sail.

We live near DC so a week away from a Washington winter is a real treat. If you're in Orlando, I guess that you won't be worring where to stay the night before the cruise, huh?

Mark

Mark,

My kids are the exact same ages as yours -- they'll be a week shy of 3 and 5.5 at the time of the cruise!

Marcy

Hello, Fellow Cruisers

My DH and I LOVE to dress up...we do the tuxedo/gown/rhinestone jewelry thing on formal and semi formal nights. Probably because we have virtually nowhere else to ever wear these clothes too, so we take full advantage.

On my last Magic cruise, a few of us glamour girls on Disboards decided to really take this dress up thing to the limit and on formal night we all wore long black gloves and tiaras. Who says just the little girls get to be Disney Princesses? We all had our picture together on the stairs in the atrium (and even people we didn't know were taking our picture)! Since my usual attire is boring business casual clothes or barn wear (we have two horses) it was a big thrill for me to get that put together.

If anyone's interested in Extreme Dressing, let me know and we can coordinate a great picture!

Hello Marcy,

We are also sailing on the Disney Magic Feb 4th. My daughter will be 3 March 18th and my son is five. Anyone who would like to get the kids together let me know and we can plan to meet up. My name is Jeanette, my husband is Brian, My son Logan and daughter Kelsey

Don't be too surprised if your first child is born around November 4, 2006.

My children are ages 2 1/2 and 5. Disney Cruise line told me that because my daughter is a month shy of her third birthday (and she is already potty trained) that she might be able to go into the 3-5 age group for the oceaneer"s club. Has anyone had a similar situation? I really don't want to separate my son and daughter. I would love to get my kids together with children that will be cruising on Feb 4th!

My daughter turns 3 on Feb. 11, and Disney told me that she's allowed in the Club as long as she's potty trained.

Needless to say, we bribed her with chocolate, and she's now been potty trained for a week.
