Feb 28, 2013 Dream...Anybody Else Going?

Hi there everyone!

We are taking our first ever cruise with you all! :) We travel to WDW quite frequently and are so excited to finally be able to go on the DCL too! We are a family of 5, my kids are ages 9, 12, and 14. My oldest and I are running the Princess Half Marathon the weekend before and then we are going to relax! So excited!!

Thank you all for the great tips!

Jo

I'm running the PHM, too!!!!

Awesome!!!! That is so great! Have you ran it before? It's our first time for that too! Soooo nervous, but so excited!

Jo

No, it's my first Half Marathon!! I am so nervous!!! I hope I can find my "groove" and keep a reasonable pace.

We are leaving the kids at home this time too. This is our anniversary cruise :)

We were thinking of trying the zoo or Queen's Staircase. Just not sure what yet. We normally stay on the ship (the kids would rather do the AquaDuck) or just do the market. Like you, since we don't have the kids this time we thought we may do something in Nassau. I am not sure how long of a walk it is. I did find this....

We did a Disney cruise for our anniversary last year and that was the best anniversary yet. You will have a great time relaxing in the adult only area. We had such a great time that we decided to do this cruise by ourelves this year also. It is a new tradition :-)

Thanks for the link. We will check it out and post anything additional we find.

I am happy to post changes outside my door for everyone if people notify me. They can call my room and leave a message as soon as they get into their room. We wont be changing rooms once it is assigned to us, about 2 weeks before the cruise.

Kathy

Thanks! I'm going to take you up on this offer!

We are really looking forward to checking out the adult areas! Our kids don't do the clubs so we can't do those things when they are with us.

JSClemsonFan, having Clemson in your name I was just wondering if you are from SC? We are from SC and we are also Clemson fans :)

Any suggestions on favorite places to stay the night before departure? The Radisson looks like it has a great pool but has terrible reviews. Anyone have a different experience there?

We stayed there a few years back and would gladly stay there again.
True it is an old building and the colors are colorful like newer motels but our room was clean, the bed was comfortable.

The pool was nice and the kiddie pool was good too. Their restaurant had good food but kind of spendy. Next door is an Italian restaurant with great food and reasonable prices. The other side is a Greek restaurant. Almost directly across the stree is a McDonlads. Very convenient to walk ot several restaurants.
Live music around the pool in the evening is nice.

I have heat the Resident Inn and Suites there is good but never stayed there myself.

The only other place we stayed was the Hyatt at the airport. AWESOME large rooms, very quiet but spendy.

The Dream was an awesome ship!! We had a great 3 day cruise!!!

If anyone has any questions please ask!:goodvibes

I am going to write a trip report with lots of photos and post it on the trip report board this week. So if you want to see photos of the ship you can have alook if you want to be surprized then dont look at my report;)

I will say we havnt been to Nassau for about 5 years and we were pleasantly surprized that the old buildings that were falling down are all gone. The street along the water front has been all remodeled and its GREAT!!

The Straw Market is no longer in a white tent. It is on the first road and to the right like it use to be accept it is now in a new building with a nice clock on its upper front area, very easy to see form the ship. Both side of the building and the front have several doors that open. They look like garage doors.

Security was everywhere too. So nice compared to what it i use to be.

Lots to unpack so will sign off for now,

Kathy

I am!! From Anderson and went to Clemson. Although, I moved to Florida when I was 5 so I am really a Floridian...but my blood is orange and thick as those Tigers!

I'm replying here so we can keep the FE thread about the FE...but my heart dropped when I read it was cool in Nassau...boo hiss!!! This has made me sad. I'm praying, praying, praying for a beautiful, WARM day when we are there on March 1st!!! I don't do cool or cold...LOL!

Glad you had fun. Yes, the Dream is amazing! Can't wait for our trip! It's coming up soon!!!

Here's to the WARM sunshine!

We have always stayed at Country Inn & Suites. It is really close to the port and offers a free breakfast. That is where we will be staying for our upcoming cruise. Oh and be sure you go to Ron Jon's while in Cocoa Beach!

Glad to hear you had a great cruise!! I am also glad that the straw market isn't in the tent! We were going to skip it this trip but may check it out now.

How was the water at CC? Was it cold? I want to do the stingrays but I am thinking I will freeze to death lol. Our last trip to CC was in Dec and the water was too cold for me then. The kids didn't mind though, they swam the whole time.

I will be looking for your trip report :)

We live in Gamecock territory (we are about 30 minutes outside of Columbia) but we are Clemson fans!! Love those tigers!! My daughter says she is going to Clemson :)
