Feb. 26, 2012 Mexican Riviera

Hi goiu! Because of a storm near PV, we ended up going to Cabo for 2 days and then Ensenada for a day. There was a notice of the itinerary change once we checked in at the LA Port. Originally, we had signed up for the city tour of PV, since it was an excursion the babies (2 1/2 and 15 months) could go on as well.

Cabo: While the babies stayed on the ship at Flounders, we took a water taxi to Medano Beach and had lunch at Mango Beach Club. Afterwards, we checked out the souvenir shops along the dock. We bought a few brightly-colored, touristy Cabo t-shirts for the kids and a small bottle of Mexican vanilla. The 2nd Cabo day, we stayed on the ship.

For Cabo, I was worried the kids might feel seasick on the tender boats but it was a short 5 min ride to the dock. They would have been fine.

Ensenada: We borrowed a stroller from GS and walked 20 mins to the main shopping area. Ladies selling jewelry and hair braiding services were on every block. The only thing we ended up buying there, was a bottle of tequila that wasn’t sold in the US.

Thanks for your suggestions! Was Medano Beach a kid friendly place? Another friend of mine suggested that place too for us. We have a 5 and 3 yr old and are looking for a beach that we can take them to in Cabo.

I have been trying to figure out where to stay before the cruise and how to get to and from airport - hotel - cruise terminal - disney -airport???? Does anyone have any suggestions? We land at 9:30 am the day before the cruise, so I was thinking about staying right by the port and am trying to find a decent inexpensive hotel. Then after the cruise we are staying 2 nights at DL so I need to know how to get there after the cruise. Then of course how to get back to LAX.:confused3
I would so appreciate any help!!!!

We are flying in the day before too. We are staying at the Embassy Suites LAX airport north. They have a free shuttle service to and from the airport. Plus, we loving having a suite, free breakfast and manager's reception the night before. Then we will take the Disney bus to the ship from the airport. We've never done it in LA, but this is what we've done the last 4 cruises in Orlando and works great for us. Sorry, can't help with the return part.

We've been to Cabo 2 times. It depends on what you mean by kid friendly. Medano Beach is technically a "swimmable" beach but depending on the surf it can be brutal. I wouldn't have 2 kiddos that young in the water there. Playing by the surf with close supervision would probably be ok. There are a lot of vendors that walk the beach trying to sell their wares. Blankets, art work, jewelry, clothes, hats...that kind of thing. Overall its a kid friendly place, they won't see too much that isn't for young eyes but don't turn your back on the water! If anyone else has any Cabo questions feel free to ask. We've gotten to know the place pretty well. :)

What time do you land at LAX? and what do you do for the day? Are there things around the area to do? We are getting in at 9:30am and want to try and do something for the day, as it is my dd birthday on that day.

From what we saw, Medano Beach is a kid friendly place, it’s nice. The beaches were clean and and we saw at least 2 roped off areas for swimmers. Although water taxis come up onto the beach right near the swimming areas.

Also, there were plenty of deck chairs on the beach as well. And if your kids use sand toys like pails or little shovels, I would bring your own since I didn’t see anyone selling those.

We get in at 1:20p. So, by the time we get our suiitcases and get to the hotel it will take a little while. My little ones will either go swimming or sometimes take naps. So, you're right we don't usually do anything much. So, you may not want to stay here since you'll want to do something special. :) We've actually never stayed at this hotel in LA. This is what we normally do in Orlando. So, not sure what's around this hotel here.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions with Medano Beach. So, is there another beach you would suggest us going to on our own with the little ones? Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Still not sure what we are going to do yet, I need to do some research.

I've got another month to wait to book, but I'm super excited! :yay:

Okay, so now I have my pre-flight hotel booked at saratog springs resort at WDW, my pre-cruse hotel booked at the sunrise hotel in san pedro and my post-cruise hotel booked at Disneys Grand California Hotel. Now I just need to figure out transportation. Anyone have any ideas?

Happy Halloween everyone!!:wizard:

So how full/empty do you think this cruise is going to be. There doesnt seem to be very many of us on the disboards.

Sorry, I couldn't be any help on the transportation. We just always use the Disney transportation.

I'm guessing it will be pretty full only because it's a kids free cruise. I've personally never been on the kids free cruises, but everyone always says they are usually packed! So, I'm preparing myself. :)

So for those of you who are participating in the FE, do you have ideas on your gifts yet? I have some that I am considering!!! I love participating in the FE.

I have some gift ideas ready for the FE exchange, yes! But, since there is only a small group of us, I guess we can give more than we usually would! So, I'll probably come up with a few other gift ideas to give to everyone too! Super excited!

If you haven't joined our FE yet, PLEASE consider doing so, it's going to be so much fun!
