FEB 2014 Anyone else going?

We are going the last week of February, I am so excited. We also are taking advantage of Dapper Days special on the GCH. I was excited as I can't normally find the funds to stay at such luxurious accommodations.

I saw a refurbishment list for that month, the last week it looks like Soarin' and Splash Mountain are down.

My only sadness is that Billy Hill and Hillbillies aren't going to be around any more.

We are also going the last week of February and are also staying at the GCH thanks to Dapper Day rates. It is my first time back since 1992 and the first visit ever for my DH, DD12 and DS11. It will be a big surprise for them ( the kids- my husband knows we are going). I cannot wait- 10 weeks from today!! I have read every post on this board since September but this is my first post on the Disneyland boards. I have found the information invaluable and I truly appreciate you all. So thanks everybody and happy holidays.

We will be there the last week of February too! We are going to be staying at the Disneyland Hotel for the first time EVER! It's a big surprise for our kids too! We plan to tell them that we are going on an airplane to visit their auntie who lives in texas. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when we arrive at DISNEYLAND!! :cool1: We plan to go all out this time as it will be the last time we will visit Disneyland for a very long time (we are moving to Florida near Disneyworld soon!). We are going to do a couple character meals plus Blue Bayou too because the kids really want to go but have never been! Can't wait!!!

We will also be there for dapper days but will be flying in from our vacation to Mexico. The last time we did this I cried when I walked down Main St. I was so happy to be home!

We postponed our Christmas week trip and are going to be there Feb 17th - 22nd. This is the first year the kids have the whole week off school and the Dapper Days rates at the DLH sold us. We're saving a bundle over what we were going to spend at Christmas. We're still staying arrival night at HoJos on points, then moving over to DLH and surprising the kiddos. Right now we're just waiting for Dapper Day discount tickets, dining reservations, and crossing our fingers that BTMRR will be open.

First time to Disneyland!! Multiple times to Disney World, but very excited to visit Mickey on the west coast! Celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday. Originally had our reservations for Candy Cane Inn, but then learned about Dapper Day here on the boards and I am thrilled to be surprising my daughter with the Disneyland Hotel. We definitely plan on dressing Dapper. Now keeping an eye out for when those park ticket discounts come out for Dapper Day. Gonna be an awesome trip!!

Congratulations!! You will love the DLH. It is my favorite out of both parks.

BTW, you can call the convention # for DL and they will give you the prices for the dapper day tickets and they can add them to your reservation. That way you do not have to pay for them until you check in and they are already added on. They are not on your KTTW card though, which is sort of a bummer. If you buy them online, you pay when you purchase them. Just thought I would let you know!! Have a great trip!

Thanks for great tip. Think I'll make that call and get those tickets added on to the reservation!

Reading this I couldn't believe it, it sounds just like our plans, right down to telling them we are visiting their aunt - who lives in Texas! Lol! We have never been to DL, but have been to DW a lot. Any advice? We will be celebrating my DS 10th bday, DD 6th bday, and out wedding anniversary.
Trying to decide on so many things and Christmas time is slowing down my usual research :)
Trying to pick character meals for each child's bday and one meal to celebrate our anniversary. Deciding whether or not to do BBB and/or Studio 365 for my DD. Use EE, or no? I am so used to planning for DW that I'm a little lost!

I can't make up my mind.

I would love to stay onsite and the Dapper Day rates could make that happen. But my son wants to go swimming and I am afraid it will be too cold. So then I was thinking May offsite.

I am a DL rookie and have no idea what to do. It is a special Me and Mommy trip for DS#3. I took my other two sons to WDW and Universal Studios FL, which I am much more familiar with.

If any of you have any advice, I would be happy to hear it. I have no idea what California weather is like other than it doesn't change much. Will May be a lot better for swimming or not? So conflicted.

As far as swimming goes, May would have a much better chance of swimming weather than Feb. Feb averages are a high of 71. So you might be able to swim but that is the high temp and you could end up with it being only in the 50s. In May the high is around 78. We went in November once, which was only a high of 76, but my kids did manage to get one swimming day in which was nice. Also the rainiest month in DL is February, so you may just not be swimming due to rain. Something to think about. Good luck with your decision!

We live in Buffalo. We open our swimming pool when the outside temperature gets to 60. As long as the water is somewhat heated, the temperature sounds fine.

Your right. It does mater where you come from and what you are used to!

My SIL lives in LA and bundles her kids up in jackets when it is 60 and never goes out when it rains. She would die to see someone swimming during that weather! ;) In our home town people do the polar plunge and love it and it is usually in the teens then. I am just a wimp as I have to wait until it is above 75 to venture in. :) (I have wimpy kids too!)

I'm so excited to return to DLR. I haven't been in 2.5 years! This trip will include ds, 17, me and my younger sister.

We are excited to see DCA since all the refurbs, Cars Land and to visit the Happiest Place on Earth once again.

Our trip is February 19 - 23 and staying at Ramada Maingate (regardless of the mixed reviews, we like staying there.) :)

I just noticed that the Disneyland Railroad is going to be closed during our trip now too. :( We've never gone in Feb. before and I chose it for (hopefully) lower crowds. I hope we don't regret not going at a different time.

Oh my goodness! How funny that you are visiting "Texas Aunt" too! What a small world!! HA!

Ok advice, for character meals, we love Goofy's Kitchen the best! Best food and awesome Character interaction! This is the biggest buffet and the PBnJ pizza is not to be missed!! Get there for the first seating if you can and the characters will stop by your table TONS! Goofy even walked our kids hand in hand to our table and danced with them! :lovestruc

Our second favorite character breakfast is Minnie and Friends at the Plaza!
We just did Minnie's for Breakfast for our now 3 year old's Birthday in October and it was wonderful! Even though it was crowded they all made a huge deal over her and she had an amazing time!! Although the food selection is less here, it is all still really good and their omelet bar is wonderful, lots of fresh veggies! The best part about this place is the Characters! There are always SO many! They come by non-stop if it's busy or not! It's also really nice to schedule first seating here on a day that the park has the magic morning, but you don't have to use yours! You get to get in when the magic morning crowd does since you have a ressie and by the time you are done eating, there usually still is a little bit of time before the rest of the crowds flood into the park, so you get a little head start!

I would definitely say YES for BBB!! We have done it for our little girls and they LOVED it so much! What a truly magical experience! I definitely think BBB is better than the disney 365 as far as magic quota goes! So fun! The magic mirror effect at the end is amazing! You can also bring your own dress if you'd like and they will just put it right into the dressing room for you!!

As far as celebrating your anniversary, I would HIGHLY recommend taking your kiddos to Pinocchio's Workshop at the Grand Californian!! http://www.mouseplanet.com/akrock/ak010706.htm. It's SUPER fun for kids and then you can have a date night! For your dinner, I cannot recommend enough doing Napa Rose Chef's counter! The hubs and I are foodies and have eaten at some wonderful places, but Napa Rose chef's counter is BY FAR the best place we have ever eaten! It is like dinner AND a show! You get to belly up to the kitchen and watch the masters at work! Andrew Sutton was even there serving us when we went! The food is so, SO incredible! You get four courses and you can pair it with a wine flight if you want too! It took us three hours to get through everything and I will never forget it! One of the most amazing experiences of my life! We were also celebrating my Birthday AND our anniversary and they treated us extra special with dessert and extra goodies to go!! It is truly an experience not to be missed!!

Where did you see that the Disneyland railroad will be closed? I see Big Thunder Mountain Railroad until early 2014, but no DLRR?
